5 Ways to Turn Resolutions Into Goals Which Inspire You

By Jean L. Serio

Photo: typeaparent.com

There comes a time, for most, when setting new goals seems necessary. Whether it's the beginning of a new calendar, religious, business year which stimulates us. Or for personal reasons you feel it's time to wipe the slate clean and begin anew. Regardless your reason, instead of starting from scratch, with all-new ideas and plans, if you start with updating previous goals, you may be re-inspired to achieve what you originally resolved to do.

"I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he had imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." --Henry David Thoreau - Walden, or Life in the Woods

We all have long-held dreams and goals. Those we'll likely never let go regardless what life brings. Instead of wiping the slate clean, if some goals are still worthy of achievement, why not rethink and update them. Refine, tweak and streamline them. To meet new needs, changes, desires and goals.

Here's 5 Simple Tips to Help You Reach Your Goals:

1. Discuss your new goals with someone you trust. It always helps to share your thoughts and goals with those who care and share your interests. It can also open up a discussion which prompts suggestions which may help refine your goals.

Plus it serves to encourage you; confirming you're not alone in your pursuits. Someone's on the sidelines rooting for you who wants you to succeed. Not only that, sharing provides another dividend. Once you've shared, you've claimed those goals. This helps further motivate you; propel you toward your goals.

2. Write down your goals or resolutions. Mark Victor Hansen says, "By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands - your own."

3. Resolve to discover and try at least one new method of reaching your goals. Whether it's trying a new marketing method, self-help, business group or health club you join, a new class you take or experience you gain working with someone new or a non-profit, commit and stick to it. Reach out and beyond your comfort zone and you'll not only enlarge your sphere of relationships, this new openness can aid in reaching your goals. Bring you a new job, clients, unexpected but welcome business ventures.

4. Have a simple plan and set reachable goals. As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day". Keep that in mind and divide your goals into manageable chunks. Each goal, or portion of a goal, reached will help keep you optimistic and challenged to continue moving forward.

5. Celebrate each goal reached regardless how small. Whether it's an espresso at Starbucks with a co-worker or a simple meal with friends, sharing your success with others invites encouragement. Helps spur you on to greater achievements.

Think of your goals and resolutions as inspirations which lead you to the fulfillment of your dreams. Not changes which must be made but challenges which help you grow and succeed.

Mark Twain said: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

How To Be Successful In Life - Little Hinges Swing Big Doors!

By

Photo: roomforhorse.com

How to be successful in life is a common question many people ask through out their lives.
If you are someone who is trying to find the key to being successful. Then read this entire article a couple of times and be sure and take notes. Then start applying the tips and strategies and you can start to see some amazing results for yourself.
You would be surprised to know that getting the results you want can start to happen by making little adjustments every day in what you are doing now. Because the right little adjustments add up to the positive change and results that you are looking for in life.
Little hinges swing big doors.
For Example:
If after I was hit by a drunk driver in 1995, I just continued those same old habits I had been doing prior to the accident. I would still be where I was back then in my life and getting the same results I was getting back then. Which is not the kind of results I wanted in my life.
I wanted to have a better job, better relationships with the people in my life, and freedom to do the things I love to do. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Well after the accident I was suffering from severe whiplash. Because of my injuries I lost my job. I was a single parent taking care of my 5 year-old-son. After several months of being in constant on going pain and totally broke. We almost lost everything we owned.
I thought to myself in the prime of my life this is not where I wanted to be. I was so mad at myself because I never went after my dreams. I wanted to record the songs I wrote and become a country recording artist.
I could have stayed in that state and become a victim but I was determined that my life was not going to continue like this. It was then I decided to make a positive difference.
It was only when I started learning to make positive changes in my life by reading books and listening to CDs, watching DVDs or attending seminars on the success habits of successful people. Then I started to apply those success habit in my life. That is when I started to see positive results and my life started to change for the good.
I must say that earlier in my life I was never taught success habits. Even when I became aware of them I never thought I had the time to learn these important life changing strategies.
I found that most people were in the same boat with this same mindset. Because after all we are busy from the time we get up in the morning till the time we go to bed right? Does this all sound familiar to you?
I was determined to make a positive change in my life even if it was just a small change. Because I was not going to continue living my life this way.
The small change that I made for myself was every day I would take time to start reading positive learning material at least one half hour when I woke up in the morning and also read for one half hour before I would go to bed at night.
Also I would use my driving time running around doing errands as my time to learn by listening to CDs.
Before I knew it I had read an entire book or listened to an entire CD series on personal self-development and I was learning about believing in myself, how to set goals, positive attitude, networking etc...
Then I started applying what I learned into my life and keeping specific philosophies that were working to bring me success in my life.
It helped me to reach my goal with my music. It showed me what can happen when you believe in yourself and follow your dreams. Now my life has changed for the better all from making some positive changes to my life.
These philosophies that I learned are not hard to learn or follow. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to understand them or apply them. The important thing is these small things add up to big results!
By learning success habits you change your mindset to one that is positive and helps to get you results.
All I know is my life is so much better because I took the time to invest in myself and learn simple time-tested success habits and how to apply them in your every day life.
It is doing the little things on a daily basis that make a big difference in your life. Remember that little hinges swing big doors.
It is learning success habits and then start applying them in your every day life that will help you get the right results. Then little by little you can start to make a big difference to improve your life financially, have better relationships, improve your health or gain the freedom to do the things you love.

How to Find Your Passion

By

Photo: skinnygirlfatpassion.com

If someone asked you, "what is your passion?" do you have a ready answer? Or would you be stumped by such a question and excuse yourself while you figure that one out?
It's not easy to find your passion. You might be enthusiastic about a lot of things, or conversely, you might not even like anything at all! People are always talking about things like personal calling and following what your heart tells you, but how exactly can you glean those answers from within? Below are five things to ponder and try that could help you pinpoint your true passion in life.
1. What do you love the most? There are no right and wrong answers here. To find your passion, you need to be honest with yourself, even if you think that the true answer sounds downright silly or shallow. For instance, if you say you love comic books and could spend hours reading and archiving them, then maybe your personal calling has something to do with the comic book industry! Who knows, you might have a talent for illustrating or story-telling. Look into your biggest, most passionate interests for clues on what you really want to do in your life.
2. Ask friends to tell you what they think is your strongest point. Harness the power of social networking to find your passion. If you're active on Facebook or Twitter, contact your closest friends - and don't even bother including the several hundred so-called friends you have never met face to face! - and ask them to Tweet or post on your wall what they think is your forte. Remind them that it is a serious request. You would be amazed by the insights one can actually gain from this social networking activity, and you might even realize that you had a personal calling you yourself did not recognize!
3. Take online quizzes. There are countless websites featuring online quizzes to help you find your passion. They ran the gamut from career assessment tests to personality tests. Don't just settle for one. Have fun taking a myriad of tests and gather the results. Look for the common denominators in them; they are indicative of not just your talents but also of what you really want to accomplish. If you end up with two or three strong points, then reflect on each interest until you realize which among them appeals to you the most.
4. Look back at your childhood. There are people who found their personal calling as early as their elementary days. There are many famous people who recall already indulging in their respective passions - acting, business, sports, et cetera - when they were old enough to go to school. Perhaps as a child you were already quite the entrepreneur with your lemonade or brownie stand. Or you probably participated in every school play either as an actor or director. The things you enjoyed so much as a child are valuable hints to what you want to do as an adult.
5. What excites you to give it a try even at the risk of failing repeatedly? You may find your passion in the things you dare to try, regardless of the sacrifices involved. So think hard about what you would be willing to go out on a limb for. It could be putting up a business even in this shaky economic climate. Or it could involve you to finally show up at auditions and keep trying for every single role until you make it in Hollywood. If you're willing to give one hundred of percent of yourself into an endeavor, then you've found your personal calling.
It takes effort to find your passion, but once you have determined it, working towards your interests and goals will be the most fulfilling experience of your life. Good luck and may you find success in your endeavors.
Find your passion and give one hundred percent of yourself into your endeavors. You have only one life to live so make it count by doing what you love best!

Tips on How to Love Yourself

By

Photo: farm6.static.flickr.com

If you don't love and respect yourself, it's a sure bet that no one else will. Fortunately, with dedication and plenty of soul-searching, you can learn how to love yourself. Once you do this, you will see that love attracts love. By becoming a more positive, content individual, you will naturally attract others to you and develop more satisfying relationships. Here are some tips on how to accomplish this:
Stop Criticizing Yourself. Sometimes, you can be your own worst enemy in terms of tearing down your own self-esteem. No one knows your flaws like you do, and it can be very tempting to criticize yourself at every turn. However, you must try to be gentle with yourself. There is a difference between criticizing, which is purely negative, and correcting, which has a positive goal of setting yourself on the right track. Let's imagine that you don't love yourself because you think you are lazy. Whenever you find yourself procrastinating or engaging in other lazy behavior, you will probably be tempted to think, "I'm the worst! I'm a lazy loser who never accomplishes anything." Nip this critical thought in the bud and replace it with a gentle correction like, "I will not give in to laziness! I have the strength and intelligence to be productive and get things done right now."
Forgive Yourself. This can be difficult. Sometimes it seems like what you've done in the past is unforgivable, and will mark you forever as a person unworthy of love. However, you must let go of the past. What's past is past, and you cannot change it. What you can change is the decisions you make and the actions you take in the present moment. Don't base your actions on a false concept of yourself as an unforgivable miscreant. Instead, understand that you can make positive changes in your life. No matter what you've done in the past, you can express goodness, humility, and selflessness now. Often, helping others is a great way to help yourself with forgiveness issues. When you help others, you see their love and appreciation for you. You realize that you are capable of producing good in your life, and you then begin to let go of the bad you've done in the past.
Look Inward, Not Outward. Because human beings are social animals, we tend to place a lot of importance on how others think of us. However, when it comes to loving yourself, you need to recognize that the source of your feeling of self-worth is within your own heart, not in the thoughts and opinions of others. Stop seeking approval for your life choices from other people. As long as you are looking for another approval, you are placing responsibility for your happiness outside of yourself. Ultimately, you must follow your own path and take charge of your own happiness.
By following these three steps, you will be well on your way towards a happier, more fulfilled life in which you can love and respect yourself.

How To Learn From Failures In 3 Simple Steps

By: Michael Lee

Photo: fastcache.gawkerassets.com

Want to know how to learn from failures? Your journey starts this second. The fact that youre reading this article is proof that youre prepared to take on the challenges that you might not want to face.

It takes courage for people to realize that they need help on how to learn from failures. And you, my dear friend, have that. Learn from your mistakes and move on with your life starting with these steps.

Step 1: Humility Helps.

A little bit of humility goes a long way. You know you did something wrong; and while you might be feeling a bit defensive, you had best keep your emotions in check.

Accept that your plans didnt go as well as you would have wanted and apologize to those who warrant your apology.

Humility is the first step to mending broken ties and relationships. Ignore other people who are talking about you behind your back.

Who you were before, or whatever your status might have been - those are no longer significant. This is not the time for you to start another war, but the time for you to reflect on what you have done.

Step 2: Observe And Report.

By now, the ruckus should have died down a little. If you want to learn from failures, then you need to stay quiet and start listening to other people for once. Watch how your peers and colleagues are handling matters.

You might not have noticed these things before; but now that youre given the chance to observe them, you might be able to pick up a thing or two. This is your chance to learn how you can help straighten things out.

Step 3: Make Things Right.

If you want to know how to learn from failures, then youll have to do a bit of dirty work. Its not the most pleasant task to do, especially if its your mess youre cleaning up; but making things right is extremely crucial to your redemption.

If youre not yet certain of what you can do, ask. You dont have to come up with the one solution that will take care of everything, but you can start by helping out in little ways.

Getting coffee for those who are doing the brunt of the work, for example, is one way you can make amends.

Knowing how to learn from your failures is very important. This is the only way you can grow as a person. Whether its your career or your personal relationship on the line, you must still learn from your experiences.

Life Is Not Like A Novel

 By: Roseanna Leaton

Photo: media.salon.com

Life is not like a novel. There is never real closure. Yet closure is frequently what we seek. We like to have things come to a logical conclusion, to get things tucked into bed. Life is more cyclical than it is linear. As one door closes, another opens.

Thus where a novel will usually have a clear beginning and an end there is in fact no real conclusion or end in life. Life goes on in so very many ways. A conclusion in life is only arrived at when one decides that they have reached their closure. It is ones own interpretation of events that allows closure and each person can have a very different viewpoint.

In one moment we can be in the present and yet our thoughts can also be in the past and in the future. We can in our minds be in many different times and places all at the one time. Our emotions also travel through time and space and we can experience great emotional impact through recall, imagination and visualization.

If you are looking for closure you will only find it from within your own mind. Events and life around you are constantly moving and changing, and if you wish to keep up then you too have to move from one moment to the next. Closure comes from developing the ability to let things go, to leave selected past events and their emotional impact in the past, instead of bringing them forward into the present.

But our minds are designed to retain information automatically, and the more emotionally charged anything is, the better it is retained within ones subconscious mind. Thus the more something upsets you the better you remember and recall it.

This is a very useful trait when the upset caused relates to dangers that might occur again. If you have encountered a rattle snake in rough ground near your home then it's pretty useful to retain the memory that rattle snakes have made that area their habitat and respect that fact.

But if you constantly retain a memory of being hurt in a relationship and apply a fear of getting hurt to every subsequent possible partner, then this trait is not always very helpful. In this type of case one benefits from letting go of the past and moving on with less negative emotional expectations.

I could provide many examples here of situations where ones ability to recall upset or fear gets in the way of present happiness and success. This can happen in both small and big ways. It even happens on the golf course, where you recall hitting out of bounds on a particular hole and you stand there next time round unintentionally feeling that fear.

When your instinctive memories and recall are getting in the way of your present you can decide to take control of them and attain closure in your own mind and emotions. Hypnosis is very helpful in this task as it allows you to access your subconscious mind.

This is the part of your mind where these types of memories and associated emotional reactions are stored. In hypnosis you can easily desensitize your emotional response and learn to focus clearly upon the present moment, without dragging unnecessary upset and fears into the present.

How To Improve Self Esteem: Small Changes Make A Difference

By: Sophia Dillard

Photo: cunysps.files.wordpress.com

Understanding how to improve self esteem can really make a huge difference in your life. The fact is that negative thoughts and beliefs about yourself such as that you're not good enough or are undeserving of something can really affect your life in damaging ways. You may think it would be entirely difficult to improve your low level of self worth, and the fact is that it's not easy to do. Yet when you make small changes in your life, you can enjoy some incredible benefits.

Daily Affirmations

Reading short daily affirmations can really make a significant impact on your life. Daily affirmations can be found on a desk calendar, sent to you through various smart phone apps, read in daily devotional books, and more. You can find any number of ways to read such affirmative messages, and generally these are small passages that take just a minute or two to read. When you read affirmations on a regular basis, you will find that you really do start to internalize what you are read. As you can see, how to improve self esteem doesn't have to take up a huge portion of your free time.

Audio Books

You may think you don't have time to listen to audio books, and honestly few people today have time to sit around and do nothing but listen to a DVD. However, if you want to know how to improve self esteem, listening to audio books is a great solution because you can multitask and do other things while you listen to the book. Consider putting a CD into your car audio system and listening to the audio book while you are driving down the road, or downloading the book onto your MP3 player and listening while you work out at the gym, fold laundry, and more. These are fast and easy ways to listen to an uplifting and positive message.

Friend Adjustments

The fact is that many people have low self esteem because of the people they spend time with. Consider your friends and even your family members for a moment and think about if they are normally positive and uplifting to you, or if they use you as a sounding board for griping and complaining. The Problem Of Burnout For Nurses And Social Workers

By: Jill Cohen

Photo: nursinglink.monster.com

Nurses and social workers experiences burnout when they are stressed because they take on more than they can bear either physically, psychologically or emotionally. It also varies according to individuals. Stress has been viewed as an occupational hazard. Nurses have the tendency of being anxious over decisions that need to be made, the number of patients who need to be attended to and the different responsibilities that are required in terms of the job description. Many nurses work twelve hour shifts which can be very demanding.

The term burnout was used by Freudenberger in 1974 and it refers to the type of chronic stress that people experience in the helping profession. This can apply to those working in home health care, social work, nursing as well as family members that are caregivers. Ironically, many caregivers do not take care of themselves. There is a level of exhaustion that occurs that often makes it hard to replenish one's own energy.

Sometimes this stress results from not been able to balance work, family and children. This stress could lead to sickness when it is not properly managed. People that are stressed out can also end up calling in sick often and jeapordizing their job. However, due to the level of compassion that many nurses and social workers have, they often feel guilty if they do call in sick.

If adequate attention is paid to the environment where nurses and social workers work, it would go a long way in reducing the stress such as people go through. There is often a lot of pressure for completing documentation that adds to the stress of client care.

It has also been discovered that the length of hours worked to also go a long way in making the job stressful. Nurses who work for 8hours undergo less stress than those who work for 12 hours. However, many people like the idea of having an extra day off during the week so this is a mixed situation.

Being able to do some chair yoga or meditation can be helpful during the day to reduce stress and focus inwards. This can work for many therapists that have their own offices, but for nurses can be more challenging due to lack of privacy.

Another area to look at is that many times nurses and social workers are also involved in being a caregiver in their personal lives. This can be with a parent or may be with a spouse that has physical or mental health issues. Having counseling oneself is an excellent way to help to find out about the ways one handles stress and work on new solutions.

How To Find The Success Formula?

 By: Shams Arefin

Photo: c6213.r13.cf2.rackcdn.com

Success in life may perhaps be defined as the continuous growth of happiness and the progressive understanding of precious goals. Success is the capability to accomplish your needs with effortless ease. And so far success, including the making of wealth, has always been measured as a course that requires hard work, and it is constantly considered to be at the expense of others.

There is a Law of Success as a theory and there is the Law of Success as a book. This piece of writing is going to contribute with you some fundamental elements about both. So you can begin to integrate them into your life and super charge your success. Napoleon Hill wrote the Law of Success in a book titled the Law of Success for what appears like a thousand years ago. In the Hills book he outlines 17 moralities that make up the law of success and although this book may seem to be old-fashioned, some of those same principles apply to you today. Here they are:

Definiteness of Purpose
Going the Extra Mile
Pleasing Personality
Self-Discipline
Cosmic Habit Force
Applied Faith
Maintenance of Sound Health
Budgeting Time and Money
Adversity and Defeat
Positive Mental Attitude
Enthusiasm
Accurate Thinking
Controlled Attention
Teamwork
Creative Vision

What applies for one person doesnt essentially work for everybody. Even though an exceedingly successful one can tell you accurately how they became rich, it doesnt signify it will work for you, right?

Stop believing lies! Because you are a unique person with unique talents, skills and attributes. Therefore you require a unique approach. What I believe is that we all need a unique formula for ones own success.

So how do you create your own customized law of success?
This is a little that will appear to you in time but once you become skilled at it you cant unlearn it. Make it your duty to gain knowledge of what your own success formula is and you will have revealed the secret code and unlocked the door to a lifetime of triumph, liberty and happiness.

Successful people are successful no issue what they do plainly because they have revealed their secret laws or law of success.
Now its your turn to realize yours

Every person loves the idea of a magical capsule or they are persistently looking for one single response that will magically release the secret for them. This wont work at all. So, keep the mentioned principles in mind and find your way to success.

Read more to see 3 ways your confidence leads to becoming more successful in both your personal and professional life!

Being self confident is just about a mandatory requirement for anyone seeking to become successful in any aspect of their lives! This is based upon the fact that the more successful people out there did NOT get that way by accident, but rather by their will and effort! To sustain this effort normally requires an inner drive which in most cases is directly related to your confidence level! Without the feeling you can succeed it becomes very difficult or even impossible to do so therefore your confidence obviously plays a significant role!

Here's a look at how feeling confident in yourself leads to becoming more successful in both your personal and professional life!

It Gets You Started

In general the 'first step' is always the most difficult one to take and in most cases it is either your motivation or your confidence that holds you back! The one single biggest and mandatory requirement for anyone looking to become successful at anything at all is they must first take action! Dreaming of success will not make it happen, only you can therefore if that first step is not taken it is unrealistic to assume anything, good or bad, will happen!

It Keeps You Going

Life does not always go according to plan therefore it is safe to assume when you're in pursuit of any new achievement that set-backs will occur! Now how you react to this set-backs will determine your successPsychology Articles, or lack thereof and this is where your confidence comes into play! If you feel you can or will succeed you are naturally motivated to continue moving forward but if you have doubts you'll likely walk away! It simply comes down to whether you expect to be rewarded for your efforts and if you do why would you quit?

It Compels You To Finish

Here again if any person feels or anticipates that they will reach their goal and that this achievement comes with benefits you can bet they'll do what ti takes! This is why people feeling confident in themselves become more successful because quite simply they finish what they started since they already anticipate success!

Being self confident in your own actions and abilities is the BEST way to become successful since it keeps you motivated! Your confidence merely tells you to keep going and doesn't allow you to consider failure as an option! As we discussed above this is why it is so very important to feel good about yourself and realize very little is outside your reach unless you 'decide' otherwise! The lesson here is that the biggest obstacle to you being more successful in any aspect of your life is looking right back at you in the mirror!

How to Bring the Power of Positive Thinking Into Any Situation

 By

Photo: 2.bp.blogspot.com

Chances are you are already be aware of the universal law of cause and effect - which means, the quality of your ideas and actions are the direct cause of your daily reality. With that awareness, you can be sure that the power of positive thinking will go a long way towards keeping your reality in decent form.
Your thoughts are the catalyst for the actions you eventually decide to take.
Most people don't give much attention to what they are occupied with at any given time. When you stop to check in with your thoughts, you'll probably discover that there's quite a lot of time spent day dreaming, reenacting the past, or worrying about the future. You can be sure that these ideas are directly affecting the results of your day to day reality in some way because they affect the choices you make.
This isn't to say that we don't all have positive thoughts as well. For example, coming up with ideas to perform an assignment more efficiently or taking the time to help someone else. These are typically part of our every day experience as well and our reality will benefit from these well-intentioned actions.
Universal law plus the power of positive thinking is unstoppable!
The power of positive thinking along with the awareness of the law of cause and effect make a potent method for attaining a satisfying life of your own choosing.
If you could hone the power to link personal events that happen to actions you took previously, you would ultimately be capable to decide ahead of time which actions would end in a wanted outcome. Think about what that would be like!
This is a very lofty objective and one that you're not likely to accomplish anytime soon, but you can acquire some degree of this discipline with practice. You can begin right now simply by becoming conscious of your thinking and what sort of thinking they're made up of.
Here is a common situation that we all go through:
Waiting in line: In any busy store, if I had to stand in line for any length of time I used to become irritated to the point of anger. This kind of thinking affected my whole perception so that everything about my environment grew to become exasperating and difficult - kids being loud, the slow pace of the checker, the rudeness of the other folks in line and so on.
Today I try to catch myself before getting stuck into that impatient frame of mind and bring up the power of positive thinking to switch gears by viewing my environment in a more friendly light. Just by applying this procedure to common situations like standing in line you actually can make a huge difference in how your reality unfolds. Your positive feelings and awareness will naturally attract improved experiences.
How about a jump start on bettering your life? The Lemurian Fellowship is a religious organization that offers unique training in applying universal laws in conjunction with positive thinking to realize a more balanced and enjoyable reality.

Revealing Your True Self - How to Break Out of Your Shell

 By

Photo: bethbuelow.com

In this article I will give you some tips on how to reveal your true self and break out of your shell to improve your self-esteem. Self-esteem is how you estimate, and respect yourself. How do you estimate, and respect yourself?
Ask yourself these five questions:
1. Do I like who I am?
2. Am I a good person?
3. Do I warrant the love of a good person?
4. Am I worthy of bliss?
5. Am I liked by other people?
Individuals with low self-esteem find it difficult to reply yes to the above questions. Are you a person with low self-esteem? The question is if you do suffer from low self-esteem, what are you prepared to do to get out of that kind of thinking?
It is always good to remember that you are unique. There is no one out there like you. Even identical twins do not share the same fingerprints. So their DNA is not as identical as once thought.
Mother Nature bothered to make you distinctive, so don't you think you should agree that you are significant and worthy to reside in this world like any else. It is important to remember that is fine to err. Never beat yourself up (metaphorically) when you make errors. When you make mistakes it is than you start learning about how not to do something.
People who suffer from low self-esteem believe that they are no us to anyone or anything. It is vital that you stop damaging thoughts because if you go around believing you are useless, other people will start believing you are useless. Believe in yourself and other people will start believing in you.
Below are techniques to improve your self-esteem:
I. Find time to sit quietly, for at least 15 minutes, and imagine a peaceful scene.
II. Stop being critical of your mistakes. Mistakes are meant to be learnt from and not something you should hang onto which will eventually weigh you down. When your day goes wrong reflect on it and write down on how you could have done it differently and better.
III. Write down 100 things you like about yourself. This may take a while but it is important that you should realise that you have many good qualities.
IV. People with low self-esteem find it hard on giving positive criticism because they believe they have nothing important to offer. Low self-esteem people also find it hard in taking criticism as well.
Below are tips on receiving criticism:
  • Pay attention to criticism without butting in.
  • Analyse the criticism and if you believe some points of the criticism are valid agree with them.
  • As for further explanation if you do not understand some points of the criticism given.
  • Be Big. If you recognize you were in the wrong, apologise.
  • Though, if you believe the criticism is imbalanced, say, politely, 'I do not agree with your criticism of me.'
Below are tips on giving criticism:
I.It is important that you keep composed.
II. Do not make a criticism if you are furious. Do it when you are calm and collected.
III. When you make a criticism first say something nice about the person than insert the criticism in and then say another positive comment after.
I will end this article with a motivational quote from the American essayist, lecturer, and poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson, "It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, 'always do what you are afraid to do.'" Good advice. It is only when we do things we are afraid of can we start to feel good about our abilities and self-esteem. So don't be afraid to change and be the person you want to be!

How to Improve Your Child's Literacy Level

Photo: southernsavers.com
Reading improves brain function and has a direct correlation with higher IQs. Children who read well have a better chance of doing well in school, and are usually in the "gifted" classes. How do you get children to want to read? You do it by reading to them.

Start reading to your children early and every day. Showing them how magical books can be, make them believe that inside every cover is a magical world that only they can touch. If your child enjoys a particular story, read it again. There's no harm in reading the same story over, in fact, it reinforces the fact that reading ought to be a habit.

Read at the same time(s) every day. Right before bed is an excellent time because it kills two birds with one stone. It helps boost their visualization and imagination skills and makes them look forward to bed.

What books are best to boost the IQ? The classics like Dr. Seuss help by using poetry. Rhymes stimulate brain activity and promote memorization, another habit to get into

Another way to get children interested in reading is to allow them to pick out the books. All reading is reading, as they say. Just because you want them to read Shakespeare at eight doesn't mean that it is any better for them than the latest Batman comic. The goal is not to force them, but to instill in them a love of reading and of books. Encourage them to read. Don't turn them off by forcing them to do it, or forcing them to read something they don't enjoy. You may prefer the adventures of Elizabeth Bennet to Bruce Wayne, but your child may not.

Many of the bookstores have wonderful children's sections and you might find that your child will go through many books while there. They usually have games and play rooms so that kids spend more time there (and encourages the parents to shop around for additional books). Allow your child to roam the aisles, opening and reading a few pages until he or she settles on just the right book. This will get them excited about reading.

When they are young, start them on their way by having them help you read their favorite stories. One sentence at a time. Gradually build their skills and vocabulary. Before long they will be doing the reading and you will be doing the listening. Even after your child is reading on his or her own, continue to maintain the story time schedule. Chapter books with their mini-cliff hangers are one way of tricking your child into wanting to read more. More importantly, chapter books drives them to read more and more advanced materials that boost's the brain's critical thinking skills, which in turn, improves their IQ.

Behavioral scientists are the first to tell you that your IQ is not static. You can boost it by eating right, getting exercise, and stimulating brain activity. This summer, help boost your child's IQ by working with them on fun and meaningful activities.

Children who read well tend to write well, and writing well, leads to reading well. This powerful combination of reading and writing gives children a boost in their mental capacity. Writing requires reflection, imagination, and problem solving skills. Have your child keep a summer journal, or even a creative writing notebook. When a child evaluates their day-to-day experiences they increase both their intelligence and emotional quotience. When writing they are learning problem solving skills without even knowing it! Scrap booking is a colorful alternative to the typical journal and also helps with fine motor skills.

Sports and outdoor activities not only help your children stay healthy but they also know boost brainpower. Outdoor play not only helps to raise their aerobic levels (which stimulates the brain), employs critical thinking skills. Moreover, the creativity that's involved in make-believe games (like pretending the tree house is an Elvin fort) can challenge their brains to think in complex problem solving skills. Outdoor play (unlike indoor) actually reduces stress levels in children. This summer send the kids outdoors. Take them on hikes or camping, build a tree house together, sign them up for swim lessons or even send them off to camp. Kids need to be outdoors and most kids today are sadly lacking in the types of vitamins provided by sunshine. Whether they like it or not, they need to play outside.

Reading is fundamental. Children who read during their summer break perform better in school when they return in the fall. It doesn't matter what they read they need to read. So be it a comic book or "Percy Jackson's Lightning Thief", get them reading. Studies show that when your child reads for fun, he or she, will do better in school than those kids who are forced to read. Take your child to the library and let them pick out any book they choose. Even if it isn't something you would like…it doesn't matter. All reading is good for them. Make reading fun by setting up a hammock in the back yard or allowing them to take the book to their outdoor forts.

Depression And Suicidal Thoughts

By

Photo: francesfox.com/wp-content

Depression and suicidal thoughts, they often aren't mutually exclusive. At some point in a depression, probably very early on, you're going to have thoughts of suicide.
When you're suicidal, you see things from a different perspective than a regular life loving person. You're incapable of giving much meaning to trivial as well as important matters others value so dearly. In fact, you're highly indifferent to just about anything they shove in front of you.
"What do you think about my new dress?"
"What color should we use for our bed sheet?"
"How do you think we should approach this client?"
"Should we take a mortgage for 20 or 30 years?"
You don't take into account the future. You're thinking short-term, as you probably won't be around for long anymore. It's kind of liberating in a way. Feeling suicidal can actually lead to happiness. There is always a way out, sort of like a hardline seen in The Matrix movie. This can be very motivating in a way.
A lot of people never think about death, as it frightens them beyond measure. It's often a taboo to talk about it. A regular person can't imagine someone wants to die. Therefore they jump to battle stations, hauling arguments long and wide why you shouldn't kill yourself. They're so furious about it, they'll almost kill you themselves.
One argument that I really dread is: "Committing suicide is selfish". I can relate to why people say that, I do. Especially when the depressed person has a lot of responsibilities and is most likely going to cause devastation in the hearts of his family and friends. However, isn't it equally selfish of us bystanders to demand of the suicidal person, who is suffering terribly, to stay around so we personally wouldn't get hurt? We're basically saying: "Well, too bad you're suffering, but you've got to hang in there because we don't like funerals."
When depressed, 'hanging in there' can last a long, long time. It's not like feeling a bit low today and tomorrow it will all be better. Depression can last years. It does not only affect the person in question, but also everyone he comes in contact with. Nobody likes having a depressed person around, they often avoid coming into contact with one, yet society demands he stays alive. Sometimes it's just better to let things go. Isn't there a saying: "If you love someone, set him free"?
If you still have hope, whether you're depressed or you know someone who is depressed and you want to help, it is important to know what you are dealing with. If you know nothing about your enemy, you reduce your chances of successful retaliation. Read more about how to help people with depression.

10 Ways to Let Go of Regret

 By

Photo: spiritcoachtraining.com

Why Focus on Regret? Regret is a feeling of distress and grief as you bring awareness to something that you wish you did differently. Because regret can be a major loss in your life it's important to focus on how you reacted to it and consequences of it. Typically, regrets can happen in your personal life, environment, possessions, workplace and relationships.
Personal Life. You can regret that you did not take better care of yourself when you were young, ate a poor diet or got a preventable disease. Regrets can also pertain to broken dreams such as a miscarriage or adoption.
Environment. You can regret accepting a job where you have to deal with traffic congestion or that you purchased a home in a flood area. Perhaps you moved from another country and lost your cultural identity. You can be unhappy that you got married young or moved into a nursing home as you aged.
Possessions. Maybe you regret buying your car, not buying your dream home or buying a home you couldn't afford. You may have too many possessions and have become a hoarder. Perhaps you feel distress because you didn't save for retirement.
Workplace. It could be you are disappointed you didn't get proper job training. Perhaps you regret that you did nothing to stop the school or workplace bully. You may regret that you retired too early.
Relationships. Perhaps you alienated a friend, broke up with someone or divorced. You might be thinking about not being closer to your grandchildren. You may feel regret due to a loved one's heart attack or that you didn't take better care of a pet. You can regret not being honest with your physician. Distressing events such as hospital errors, domestic violence, car accidents, falls, injuries, homicide and suicide can cause remorse.
Palette of Grief® Reactions Caused by Regrets
The Palette of Grief® includes emotional, cognitive, behavioral, physical and spiritual reaction caused by loss. Being that regret is considered a loss, some of the emotional reactions may include anger, shame, guilt, anxiety and blame.
Cognitively, you might feel confused, frustrated, and dwell on one negative detail instead of the whole picture. You could be indecisive and have difficulty making plans. With a pessimistic, negative attitude, all-or-nothing thinking or exaggerated thinking you may speculate about what you should have done differently. With an impaired self-esteem you might believe that you did something wrong. Unwanted memories may possibly make you feel worthless, disgusted and helpless.
Behaviorally, you might compulsively exercise or gamble. You may become intolerant of others, work too much, become a perfectionist and consider yourself a failure.
Physically, you could feel restless, exhausted or fatigued. Regrets could wreak havoc on your body causing you to grind your teeth, have muscle tension or a peptic ulcer. You may refuse to talk, drink too much alcohol and become self-destructive.
Spiritually you possibly may abandon your faith, feel judged and be angry at God. You may feel empty, have lost your life's purpose, feel apathetic and hopeless.
Self-Soothing Strategies
It's no secret that it takes 21 straight days to create a habit. So, focus on self-soothing thoughtful activities that will minimize regret for 21 days in a row. If you reframe your thinking, at the end of that timeframe regret can become contentment. Here are 10 ways to let go of regret:
  1. Rather than avoiding your feelings, be a flexible thinker and brainstorm choices to cope with them.
  2. Be open-minded as you retrieve regret from your brain and reorganize your thoughts about it.
  3. Recognize whether you are focusing on actions you did but wish you didn't or actions you didn't do but wish you did.
  4. As you problem solve, write down assumptions about the regret and focus on whether or not these beliefs are correct.
  5. Keep a check on thinking patterns for inaccurate and twisted perceptions of the facts.
  6. Pay attention to your perception of how much control you believe you have over what happened.
  7. Be tolerant of mistakes you believe you made as you let go of negativity and create positive self-talk.
  8. As you take a walk or do something relaxing, think about regret with a positive attitude.
  9. Challenge irrational thoughts with reality by creating a list of things you could have done differently based on what you knew at the time or what you know now.
  10. Talk about your regret with a friend or family member or utilize professional resources.
Future decisions will be based on past regrets. Living with regret is not useless as it teaches you that the choices you make have consequences. There is a connection between regret and positive growth. Appreciate life, identify your blessings and remain grateful for the ability to let go of regret. The key point is that you can find meaning in what the regret has taught you about your inner strength and resilience.
Milne wrote Winnie the Pooh and within the story Christopher Robin echoes the importance of a positive attitude to Pooh, "Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." When you find yourself thinking about regret, focus on what you have learned from it as you are probably stronger than you seem.

Things to improve your life

Photo: 3.bp.blogspot.com
- If you inform your self that you hate flying, then you will.

- If you notify on your own that you endure from jet lag, then you will.

- If you notify all by yourself that you require eight hours rest to cope, then you will.

- If you notify oneself you require coffee to wake up, then you will.

It is very straightforward to develop road blocks that hinder your day to day existence.

It is not so simple to phase back again, be goal, and essentially get rid of these obstacles.

Now - set your thoughts to executing anything about overcoming the weakness of your current mindset.

If you have a weak mindset, turn it around and make it optimistic.

If you have a self-damaging mindset, determine to make it self-enhancing.

Your head is your ally if you allow it to be.

Assurance breeds self-belief...

If you want existence to be straightforward, exciting and fulfilling (as we all profess to), then you are heading to have to do some thing to overcome this self-delusional miseducation:

When I fly I keep in mind that the chance of my plane crashing is minimal - and if it did, then I would just pretend it was a roller coaster. That is my conscious selection, my way of comforting and experiencing the journey.

When I get on a airplane, I change my watch to the time of my vacation destination and I inform myself that I will be just great when I land - all set, in a position and inclined to delight in wherever I am likely. That is why I by no means get jet lag.

When I can, I get as considerably sleep as I want - when I can't, I seem upon it as a day of journey, as a time to make the most of the early mornings and the late nights. That is why I am seldom tired.

When I wake up I like to drink coffee, but it is not an important element of my morning - if I cannot have a coffee, I just get on with my day. That is why I can get up and go with no needing a crutch to make me sense human.

- If I can do it, so can you... I was just as miseducated as the next person, and I have had to break my individual miseducated mindset as properly.

Your mindset controls every little thing you do, and anything you do not do. It is time to get back management of your thoughts in purchase that you make the most of your life.

You will be happier and more healthy. You will be in a position to confidently get center stage and juggle nine balls as the crowd whistles and cheers your identify.

If you have never ever attempted a guided meditation, why? You will be superior for it. You will come to feel excellent. You will have internal stability. And you will be greater ready to view your existence as the enjoyment and interesting adventure that it can be.

I like examining inspirational sayings and quotes to encourage me to take action and start off accomplishing. I know I'm not on your own in this, but how a lot of of us truly do get action immediately after reading these estimates?

How many take the good feeling inspired by the sayings and transfer that sensation into optimistic action?

I'm willing to bet not numerous. It really is one particular matter to really feel beneficial just after reading through a bit of inspiration. It is an additional matter to basically do anything with that enthusiasm.

I'm hard you to go through these inspirational sayings beneath and do a thing constructive with the inspiration they give you. Find what can make you delighted by experimenting. Never ever quit seeking to make your life far better for the reason that you deserve the finest.

"Most people are about as joyful as they make their minds to be." -Abraham Lincoln
Happiness is no matter you make it out to be. You can opt for when you want to be pleased and when you want to be upset. This is specially genuine with the way you view your everyday living.
