Can A Panic Attack Kill You?

By

Photo: theredcadillacseaside.com

Relax. It won't. Let me share a little secret with you. Panic attacks aren't at all dangerous. In fact, they're even beneficial (I'll cover this at the end). You know at a panic attack is? misinterpretation of our own body's signals.
Ever heard of the fight or flight response? It's actually a DEFENSE mechanism built-in your. It's there to keep you alive and well. Not to harm you. Rest assure you're perfectly safe. But hey, don't take my word for it. Prove it to yourself.
When the next panic attack comes in, don't resist it. EMBRACE it. Let it all in. In fact, CHALLENGE it. Call it's bluff. Feel like you're suffocating? Try holding your breath for as long as you can. Counter-intuitive? Yes. Dangerous? No. Effective? ABSOLUTELY.
You see, no matter how strong your will power is, eventually your body's survival instinct will take over and FORCE you to breath. Again, you don't to take MY word for it. Try it yourself. Ask ANY doctor you know. They'll confirm it. You cannot override your body's will to LIVE.
The same goes for every BURNING sensation you might experience during your next attack. Women often tell me they feel their arm is "on fire." Ever had that? Simple solution. Again, try to focus as hard as you can to make your hand burst into flames. Send direct messages for your body to "light up" your arm. Result?
NOTHING.
There was nothing to be afraid off to begin with. You see, all panic attacks got on you is an ILLUSION of a threat. It's not real. So stop running from your anxiety., and start CHALLENGING it instead. Every time you "call its bluff" with this method, you achieve a small victory.
You come one step closer to a life without panic attacks. And here's when it gets REAL interesting. I told you earlier panic can be beneficial remember? You see, once you overcome an inner challenge of that magnitude, you develop an inner strength that the average woman will NEVER posses.
So yes, right now your panic attacks are horrible. Your anxiety probably drives you up the walls. BUT... Once you'll overcome it, you'll have something that NO ONE could EVER take from you. Never. Not in a million years.
Your confidence will be through the roof. You'll feel empowered like never before. Just remember: Don't ever give up. There's always hope. ANYONE can recover from her anxiety. It's just a matter of how BADLY you want it.

How To Recognise Social Anxiety In Your Child Or Teenager

By
Photo: anxietydisordersinchildren.net

Social anxiety disorder does not only affect the adult population, it can also affect children and teenagers. A high percentage of adults who suffer from this disorder admit to it actually starting during their childhood and teenage years and remaining with them into adulthood. It is thought that approximately one in one hundred youngsters suffer with social anxiety disorder. Having to deal with the disorder during childhood and teenage years can often be more debilitating than in later years as a grown adult. Youngsters are very susceptible to negative peer pressure and things others may say or think about them. If the disorder is not recognised and treated it will develop deeper and will be more likely to remain with them into their adult years. As a parent it is important to recognise the symptoms of social anxiety disorder in your child or teenager as soon as possible and to seek expert help from your family doctor or paediatrician.
Here are some warning signs to look out for:
  • Avoiding being the centre of attention at all costs
  • Do not like being singled out for praise either at home or school
  • They try to be "invisible" in a classroom situation so they will not be called on to answer a question or speak out in front of the class
  • Do not want to invite friends over or go to someone else's house for a sleepover or a party
  • Avoid using the telephone
  • Have trouble speaking in public, will often let you order for them at a restaurant rather than speak up and tell the waiter or waitress what they would like
  • Do not make eye contact when someone speaks to them
  • If asked a question they will mumble or give one word answers
You may also notice some physical signs that they are uncomfortable or struggling to cope in a social situation, such as:
  • Sweating
  • Feeling dizzy
  • Sickness or diarrhea
  • Younger children may cry for no apparent reason
Youngsters who are suffering with this disorder will often be irritable, not get enough sleep, not be able to concentrate on schoolwork etc and so their education may begin to suffer.
If you suspect that your child or teenager may be suffering from social anxiety disorder you first need a correct diagnosis from your doctor or specialist who can then recommend the best course of treatment to help them to deal with and hopefully overcome this crippling disorder. If diagnosed and treated at an early age then they may not have to deal with the disorder as they grow into adulthood.

Memory Tips - Sharpen Your Mind

By

Photo: static.guim.co.uk

Memory is a precious gift that deserves to be cherished and maintained actively. Memory is something that we normally take for granted, unless in abnormal circumstances where people may observe lapses in memory. We tend to assume that memory would stay in its place by itself forever, as long as our memory doesn't fail us. However, with time, there is always a possibility that memory might not be as it used to be in the earlier days. It is important that people invest in, and take an active effort towards, maintaining their memories properly, and a few memory tips would definitely help in preserving memory for the long run.
One of the key memory tips would be to maintain an active lifestyle filled with emotion and humour. It is a fact that messages that are presented with humour tend to reach their target audience better and stay in the memory longer. While this may apply for people at the receiving end of humour, having a positive attitude towards life and cherishing the moments is important in keeping the mind devoid of past baggage, having an impact on memory. Positive emotions and attitude spread happiness and draws the right kind of like-minded people around, which would have a ripple effect in generating positive vibrations, having the right effect on memory. Some of the other memory tips would include keeping the mind active, by engaging in intellectually stimulating topics and discussions.
Memory tips would also include engaging in intelligent games such as chess. There are many benefits of such memory tips involving games, where people tend to be fully engaged in the activity unlike some of the other tactics used where the involvement might be passive. Flexing the brain cells in trying to find solutions is a good way to keep the memory alive and kicking. Chess, or any of the long list of other intellectually stimulating games would help in achieving similar objectives and would feature among the prominent memory tips. Similarly, an active involvement in arts would also do a world of good for people looking for memory tips. Arts, such as painting, tend to have their own effects on the brain that tries to interpret the work using patterns, designs, colours and abstract notions. Apart from physical activity, taking the above-mentioned examples into consideration would serve a set of memory tips that would help you achieve your objectives of preserving your memory and sharpening your intellectual abilities.

The Space Between Life and Death

By

Photo: 2.bp.blogspot.com

"I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I apply all my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy." - Og Mandino
Many people go through life never tapping into their life's purpose. Maybe some people wonder what the big deal is, while others question whether they even have a purpose. How does one discover or decide if their life has any purpose?
I took some time to check where I was in my life. Did I have any fulfillment or satisfaction? Did I love or enjoy what I was doing? Did I enjoy waking up in the morning with great intention in my life?
Ask yourself what you are going to do to discover your purpose and passion in life (if you don't already know). If you don't like the answers you get, decide to do something to change those answers. That is exactly what I had to do. I needed to find out what made my heart beat--what made me feel I was a difference in the world (or at least to the people I connected with).
It wasn't enough for me to simply be alive. What was I doing with my life? What effect did my life have on those around me? What was I put on this earth to do?
Having purpose in our lives gives us meaning; it gives us reasons to live. To me, it says to God that we value the life He has given us, and with that life, we are going to do something worthwhile. Purpose provides the fuel for our lives. I often tell my clients or audience that there is something that exists between life and death. That something is our purpose; our reason for being. We are not here just to take up space.
Something else I've discovered is that some people know their life has purpose, but the fear of pursing that purpose grips and cripples them. These people live in a place of fear and are unsure how to move past it so they can live a better life. Fear keeps us from discovering the purpose we were born to live.
It is not enough for us to know we have purpose. We have to do something in our lives to discover who we are and what purpose we are here to serve. Then without reservation, fear or hesitation, we must live our lives with purpose.
Are you living a purpose-filled life? If not, what are you willing to do to either discover your purpose or begin walking in your purpose?

What Should You Look For In A Girlfriendwife

By:

Photo: weddinginvitations123.net

In the dating world, many-a-times we tend to trust all the wrong people and later we regret our actions. Not every girl out there is right for you. Hence finding someone perfect for you in a world that is not so perfect is not an easy task. Here we will discuss what qualities you should look for in a girl, instead of getting stuck with someone who is wrong for you.

Trust is the most important quality in a relationship. It should be balanced from both the sides. Search for a girl who can stay loyal to you. Just remember if she is cheating on someone for you, there is no guarantee that tomorrow she won't cheat on you. Similarly, go for a girl who believes in you. If you go for a girl who is way too possessive, you will only end up getting frustrated in the long run. The next most important quality is an understanding nature. If the understanding between two people is good, there won't be any room for problems, arguments or issues. Search for someone who thinks like you. If she thinks like you, she will find it easier to understand you. Laughter is a great medicine for any problem. Go for a girl who has the ability to make you laugh. If she beholds a good sense of humor, you will always enjoy her company no matter what. Very few girls are good listeners. No matter how quiet you are, at some point in time you will want her to listen to you as well. Go for a girl who listens to you, accepts you the way you are and motivates you to achieve your goals. Commitment is very important in a relationship. If you are looking for a serious relationship, don't go for someone who is not ready to commit.

Just remember at the end of the day, even if you make a mistake, it doesn't really matter. The lesson that you learn and the way to gather yourself and move on is what really matters. For each heart break, you are one more step closer to finding true love. Love comes above every other quality. If a girl really really loves you, she will always keep you happy. However if she doesn't, you will never be able to be happy with her no matter how much you try. So don't ever compromise on love.

Stress Reliever

By:

Photo: michaelhyatt.com

College is a lot different as being in High school. Being in college is accompanied by great responsibilities which often give stress to a person. Stress, if not taken care of might lead to health problems or worse death itself. To lessen and end this kind of situation, you just have to discover things that you might consider as stress reliever for you. Everyone has its unique way to relieve stress. It may be the weirdest idea you think of but as long as you felt relieve whenever you do it, it is fine.
I once suffered from stress during my college years due to the piled up project deadlines by different professors, the midterm and final examinations and the financial instability of my family. I had to work part time during weekends at a pastry shop just to help my family support my education. Whenever I got home from school or work I still need to study or finish my projects to meet deadlines. This takes up a great portion of the time that is supposed to be for sleeping. If worse comes to worst, I got to deprived myself from sleep. This led me to become an unhealthy type of person. After I noticed the drop of my health I decided to discover my stress reliever.
Every time this kind of situation happens, I always prepare my stress relievers: toasted pecans and music. When I get stressed out I just turn on the music player and play some music. I usually play classical, pop and country music. I get benefited by using music as stress reliever since it doesnt take my time away. I can still do my regular activities while the music is playing. I play the types of music that would give me a calming feeling.
The pastry shop that I worked part time during my College years usually uses pecans for their pastries. They always buy ten bags of it everyday. When they still have a lot of it to spare they divide it among their workers. Every time I got my share, I always give it to my mother and request for toasted pecans. I got a jar full of toasted pecans stored on the kitchen cabinet. Every time I need some, I just go to the kitchen put two handfuls of it a bowl and bring it to my room. While I do my work, I can eat and listen to the music. Aside from being a stress reliever, it has nutritional value. Pecans contain antioxidants, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc and fiber which are good for human body. After discovering my stress reliever, my health and well being became better.
There, I have found my stress reliever. Others might think it weird but it suits me. Have you found yours? If not start thinking now. You might be on a great risk if you don't act as soon as possible. You can try my stress reliever: toasted pecans and music if you want to. Who knows, it might also work on you.

How to Deal With Anxiety and Worry

By

Photo: anxietytherapyonline.co

What good is life without living? That is what anxiety and worry does to you. It stops you from living a fulfilled life. You keep wondering about things that you have no control over. What good will it do to worry about such things? It will only bring you sadness and cause you to be stressful and depressed. Then what? You get tired of life and you just give up or even end your own life. Is it worth it in the end? There are things that we can control in life and there are things that we just simply cannot control and we should not worry about these things.
Matthew 6:31-34 Therefore, do not worry, saying what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For after all these things the gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
The bible tells us not to worry. God is our provider and He can give you all that you need. The earth and everything in it is His. If you will only give Him your life and let Him guide you then He will be more than happy to be your Father and He will provide for all your needs and you will not have to worry anymore.
Martha and Mary were sisters of Lazarus, the same who was brought back to life by Jesus after being dead and buried four days. They were having a feast to celebrate Lazarus' resurrection and Martha was helping the servants to serve the guests and was directing the feast from the kitchen. Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet at that time and so Martha became angry with her. She felt as if she had been left to do everything alone. So she came to Jesus and asked Him to tell Mary to come and help her in the kitchen. But listen to what Jesus said to her,
Luke 10:41 - "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."
First of all, He told Martha that she was worried and troubled about many things. This is true for us also today. We are always worried and troubled about many things in life; especially now with all the recession going on around the world and people losing their jobs. Some do not know how to handle all their worries and anxieties so they commit suicide, others begin a life of alcohol and drugs to try and drown their sorrows and fears. This world will always bring you anxiety and worries. Jesus says, do not worry about anything. There is no point in us worrying ourselves to death with the things that we cannot control. That is what He was telling Martha.
Secondly, He said to her that Mary had chosen the good thing and it will not be taken away from her. What is the good thing? It is the presence and love of Christ in our lives. You receive the good thing when you invite Jesus into your heart. You become His child from that day on and no one will be able to take that away from you. Nobody will snatch you out of the hand of God. He will provide for you and you will not lack anything. You will want to stay at Jesus' feet like Mary, for you will have found the good thing, which is the only thing that is needed. You will have your very own eureka moment.
Jesus can give you peace of mind. Worry not about the things you cannot change or have, be content with what you have and change what you can and leave the rest to God. He will be the one to supply all your needs. You simply remain in Him and trust in Him and walk according to His statutes and He will open the floodgates of heaven and bless you abundantly.
Philippians 4:19 - And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Jesus wants to give you the best of the best in everything. Have you ever seen how royalty dress up and what they eat? Do you think that you will see a royal person begging for anything? Do you think they ever worry about what to eat or drink or what to wear? Of course they don't. So why do you have to worry then? You are the child of the King so that makes you royalty also. Your father owns everything. All you have to do is come to Him and ask. He will not give you a stone when you ask for bread and He will certainly not give you a snake when you ask for fish.
Matthew 7:9-11 -What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
If you ask God for the good thing He will certainly give it you. That is exactly what Mary was asking for and she got it. Martha did not get it because she did not ask so she was worried and troubled. She was weary and heavy laden and she was carrying all her burdens alone instead of giving it all to Jesus. If she had, she would have found rest for her soul just as Mary found it.
Matthew 11:28-30 -Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Do not let the world and its worries drag you down with it, beloved. Do not be like Martha. Take up the yoke of Jesus and learn from Him. Cast all your cares and worries upon Him. Be like Mary. Let Him take care of your needs and wants. Do not stress yourself out with anxieties and worries. Jesus is waiting for you to give it all to Him. He can carry it, you can't. Surrender all to Him and let Him set you free from your burdens.

Self Confidence Breakdown - How to Get Your Self Confidence Back

By

Photo: fashionsociete.files.wordpress.com

What image do you project to the people you meet? Is it an image of a successful person? Do people perceive you in a positive way? What impression do you want people to have of you? These are very important questions to answer about your self image and the role your self image plays in your life. Your self-image plays a huge role in how people perceive you and the impression you leave on them.
The image people have of you begins with how they see you. How do you walk, do you walk head up or looking down. Do you smile when you meet people? Do you look people in the eye, or are you looking around them or past them? Your self image plays a starring role in your life. The foundation of your self-image was created in your subconscious mind by other people. Your parents, teachers, family members, friends and anyone else that was an authority figure in your early years are the basis of your self-image. What you saw these authority figures do and what you heard them say to you and about you created your self-image. The self-image is created almost entirely by the time we are nine or ten years old.
The image you have of yourself, your self-image, is found in your subconscious mind where it affects everything you do. How does you self-image control what you do? The self-image operates exactly like a cybernetic mechanism or control system. A cybernetic mechanism is a control system in animals and some machines that measure the deviation from a set goal or mean and then automatically makes adjustments to correct the deviation from that goal or mean. Think of the automatic pilot on a commercial jet. The planes computer is programmed with a flight plan which controls the automatic pilot. If the plane is blown off course, the auto pilot makes the adjustments to the flaps and the plane is put back on course without the pilot taking any action. How does that apply to the self-image? The self-image is a cybernetic instrument.
Your self-image is resident in your subconscious mind where it causes you to take actions without you consciously thinking about it. It is controlled by the programing that has been placed in your subconscious mind. That programming is also known as habits or paradigms. The habits or paradigms were programed into your subconscious mind by others so you do not have to keep them. You have the ability to change them. The good news is that you can replace these paradigms with new supportive paradigms that will allow you to create a new self-image that will support you in achieving your goals.
The results that you are currently getting in your life, the money, relationships, and your job are all affected by your self-image. If you change the self-image you change the results you are getting. How do you change the paradigms that make up your self-image? It begins with a choice; you have to be willing to change. You must be willing to decide what you really want from life. Listen to that still quiet voice deep inside and decide. Then you must begin the work.
Go someplace quiet and think, what would your ideal life look like? Write these thoughts down. Then make a list of people that you admire and aspire to be like. Write out a list of the characteristics and qualities that you like in these people. Write out a detailed description of your ideal life, everything that you dream of in vivid detail so that if someone else were to read it they would get the same image you have on the screen of your mind. Spend time every day at least 3 times a day writing out this image and thinking about your ideal self-image. Do this every day for at least ninety days and then compare your old results to your new results. You will be shocked!

Look Back to Look Forward

By

Photo: static.uslnn.com

In what direction do we hold our vision? We have 360 degrees to work with, but where do we put our attention?
The study of attention, and how it impacts us every day of our life has been a life long fascination. New developments in neuroscience are giving us clues about attention that are suggesting how we use our attention can change the hardwiring of the brain radically and for the better. If we learn to pay attention to our attention, we can even create transformations that defy our greatest expectations.
My first lesson on attention came from Larry, a 24-year-old mentally challenged adult living at the Bess Stone Center, a residential home for mentally disabled adults in Lawrence, Kansas. Larry and I met on my first day of work. He was very tall and very thin. Perhaps the most striking feature of his appearance was the wide suspenders he wore to hold up his pants. His teeth protruded and his head was oversized.
"His name is Larry," Mary Jean said to me. "He is 24 but has the mind of a 2-year-old." He doesn't talk, he just grunts. As she spoke those words, his head tilted and I immediately knew he understood her harsh words. Larry looked different, and even though his outward appearance was unusual, it was clear that there was much wisdom that lay beneath Larry's surface, a fact that I was about to learn.
Larry, who did not possess the ability to communicate through words with others, put his talents to work and made an invention. By inserting the 'foil' from the inside of a ketchup bottle top into a clothespin, Larry was able to gaze into the small foil 'rear view mirror' for a fully encompassing view of the world.
Larry used his invention and attention to watch the man who came to polish our floors once a week. Larry watched the up motion and the down motion in his mirror, and once his mind mapped the rhythm, he imitated floor polishing even when the polisher was not there. I asked him if he wanted to try it out and sure enough, Larry became the best floor polisher ever.
He polished floors every day. Then he took me outside and motioned with his arms he wanted to polish the grass. After it clicked in, I realized he wanted to transfer his new found skills to learn to mow the grass. And he did, he became the best grass mower we had ever seen!
Larry's energy and passion for learning became contagious. Soon enough, everyone became alive in a new way. Bertha wanted to play the piano, and she did, in her own way. Albert wanted to have 'money in his pocket' and so Mary Beth gave him money to carry to the store for food shopping. Mark wanted to build a house, and so we gave him wood to build a miniature house which upon its completion was donated by the Bess Stone Center to its 'sister home' for mentally disabled children. The local newspaper heard about the change at Bess Stone and came in to write a feature story, which went on to greatly inspire our small town in Kansas.
Larry taught us all about looking back to look forward. When you are gazing back at your life, pay attention to finding experiences that inspire you with passion and excitement-and lo and behold, they will help you attend to the future in new ways.
- Exercise your Looking Back to Look Forward skills with others.
- What you pay attention to drives your intention.
- Use your 360-degree mirror to find memories that ignite your passion.
- Share those memories with others, as Larry taught us to do, and watch your life transform.
- When we put our attention on what gives us passion, we catalyze growth in our selves and trigger the Growth Instinct in others.

Stay In Control When A Panic Attack Strikes

By

Photo: panic-attacks.maxupdates.tv

Many people suffer from panic attacks. There are different things which cause panic attacks for different people, but it's important to remember that you can remain in control of them. These tips will help you understand what causes them, and what you can do to control them.
1. If it is something in your life which causes panic attacks, then you must try to sort out the cause, rather than the result. For example, if the thought of going to work brings on an attack, can you describe what it is about your job that brings on the panic? What could be done to help so that it will not have this effect on you? Who could help you sort out this problem?
2. Keep a diary of when you suffer each attack, or feel as if you may be about to have one. Also write down what you were thinking about before the feelings came on. You can then use your diary to see if any pattern emerges. If you can see a pattern, then you may be able to do something to stop it. Is it going to a particular place, or doing a particular task? Is there any way you can avoid this situation?
3. Try to work out if your attacks are caused by something tangible or not. Could you be exaggerating them in your mind? Try sitting down with someone you can talk to - it's always useful to talk things through. Is there some way you can change your thinking? An example which is often given is going into a job interview and imagining the interviewer naked. Could you use a similar thinking plan to calm your thoughts?
4. When you feel an attack coming on, try to think of something completely different to clear your mind. For example, if you know you are going to have problems when visiting the dentist, ask the dentist if he or should would mind you putting your MP3 player on while they do what needs to be done. Few Good Methods Adopted By Great Personalities For Self Improvement

The maximum number of years a man lives on the earth can go up to 150 years. However, the average expected life span of a human body is somewhere between eighty and ninety years. Therefore, we can say that everyone who is born, is destined to die some day. So what is the best possible way to live a perfect life? When I say perfect, it means something like a perfect model that is most commonly used in Economics. In Economics, a perfect model is used for various aspects. And from whatever little knowledge I possess, I can say that these perfect models are more like assumptions that we have in life. So we might get a thought as to what can these assumptions be. This is quite simple to understand when I say so.

These assumptions are mainly laid depending on the goal you want to achieve. Say, for example, a doctor wants to become a better doctor. To become a good doctor what are the qualities that are required. Hence here we get a perfect model for existence. The perfect model assumes all the good qualities or the best qualities to define a good doctor. What happens here is that all of these qualities are listed and you can be confident that if a doctor has all these qualities he is a perfect doctor or he can become the best doctor.

However, if we think a little deep on this concept, we know all these are assumptions to become perfect. Why are these assumptions laid? It is for doctors to keep in mind, that if he or she acquires all these listed qualities, he is now eligible to compete to become the best doctor in the world. Similar is the case for an engineer or anybody for that matter. This principle can be used in every aspect in life today. Believe me it just works out for a person to always become better. However, the same principle can be used for us to improve ourselves in our personal life as well. The best way to do this is to think for ourselves, and if everybody tries to do this, the world would become a better place to live in. You can find success and happiness everywhere. At times these things might be very simple to look at. While in practice sometimes it becomes complicated and requires a lot of effort doing so.

This line of thought has been developed by great people, who have achieved their lifetime awards. Be it a musician, or a politician and you can state many names who have achieved things in life. Today, with the help of internet, we get all the information about some of these great personalities. I sometimes sit to read about them featuring on my internet offered by Verizon FiOS Bundles. And most of the times, I have found that all these great personalities that we talk about today have had a set of guidelines to improve their personalities. And that's one of the main differences between a common man and great personality. So if we really want to improve ourselves, it is very simple. Read some of their autobiographies and jot down the qualities that they have you think you can follow. Now it is time for you to practice them one by one. For people in the corporate world, these kinds of activities are just another idea to improve your process. It is the same way we input an idea to improve our personal qualities to attain those leadership skills that our people have achieved in their lifetime. All it requires is a little effort to achieve in our own areas of specialization.

Being Self-Confident - How to Remove Insecurities

By

Photo: 2.bp.blogspot.com

Self-confidence is necessary to live a fun and joyous life. With self-confidence you can take on new challenges without the need to hold back, you can express yourself fully and completely, and you can make mistakes without tearing yourself a part.
But if you lack self-confidence then you know firsthand how difficult it can be to step out of your comfort zone and into a new or different endeavor.
However, it can be done. Learn how to remove insecurities from your life and experience a joy you never knew existed.
Here are three steps to help you remove insecurities from your life.
- Take baby steps everyday that take you out of your comfort zone. Do whatever that means to you. If you have a hard time looking people in the eye then look at least three people in the eye today.
If you feel uncomfortable speaking up for yourself even though you know your right then voice your opinion at least once today.
- Develop a deep loving acceptance for yourself. Don't allow yourself to call yourself names or to put yourself down even if you make a mistake.
If you catch yourself doing either of these two things immediately say the words "cancel, cancel" this will help you stop the self-abuse even if your mid sentence or mid thought.
- Repeat loving statements to yourself every time you think about it. Don't force yourself to repeat affirmations if it feels like a drag and like something you have to do or else.
Just say loving and caring things to yourself throughout the day every time the urge presents its self. Now if the urge never does then you will have to make yourself do it in the beginning but once you do it enough times it becomes habit.
Bad habits and good habits are formed in the same manner. It's just easier to stick with bad habits because you don't have to think about it much.
Being self-confident is really about being loving and accepting of yourself. If you love and accept yourself completely for who you are then you'll act the part and others will treat you accordingly.
You show people how to treat you by the way you treat yourself. You cannot tell someone to treat you with love, honesty, and respect if you don't do it yourself.
Think about that the next time you say something negative or unkind about yourself. Would you want someone else to say that to you? Then don't do it yourself.
What you think about yourself is just as important as what others think of you. Actually it's more important.
Being self-confident is about removing all your insecurities by taking it one step at a time.

How to Build Lasting Self-Confidence

By

Photo: healthylifestyleplus.com

Self-confidence is having the belief in our ability to do or accomplish something, or to succeed. It largely involves our past learning experiences, successes, and achievements.
For many of us self-confidence can fluctuate up and down, depending on the daily challenges we face in comparison with our ability to deal with those challenges. However, building a sustainable and balanced self-confidence is achievable. What follows are some ways to do just that.
First and foremost, building a lasting self-confidence requires a degree of focus and the determination to follow through toward real and solid achievements. There is no quick way to acquire self-confidence. It requires work because that's what success requires, and it is success in our endeavors that breeds self-confidence. Thus, the more successes you have the more lasting your self-confidence will be.
Secondly, to build upon the self-confidence that you already have take an inventory and recall your past successes. Bring to mind the feeling you had at the moment of each of those successes. Experience those successes in your mind again and then apply that experience to the current challenge you might be facing.
Many athletes perform this very mental exercise prior to every competition they participate in. Some call it "psyching the self up". But it's that recalled feeling that help these competitors build the lasting self-confidence to be successful in each and every competition.
Goal setting is also important to establishing lasting self-confidence. Often we successfully accomplish a task and reap the rewarding feeling of self-confidence, only to have our self-confidence dissipate over time. This is because we didn't set other goals after completing the previous one.
If you want to have lasting self-confidence then you need to continuously set goals before yourself and accomplish them each and every time, one after the other. Moreover, by setting goals and accomplishing them you put structure into your life. Structure can help in establishing a lasting self-confidence.
Confident self talk is another way to build lasting self-confidence. Let yourself know you are capable of accomplishing your goals. Tell yourself that you will effectively execute the strategies necessary to reach your goal.
If necessary think the strategies through, envisioning yourself in the execution of each and every step. This is called visualization and it will influence your self-confidence.
Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all inter-related. Whenever you act confidently it will help increase your self-confidence. This is especially important to do when your self-confidence begins to diminish, which at times happens to even the best.
To act confidently keep your head up, put a bounce in your step, and focus on those things you can control. Even when things don't seem so good, this behavior can activate thoughts of self-confidence.
To maintain a lasting self-confidence it is very important to have and focus on achievable goals. If your goals are realistically beyond your immediate reach you may be setting yourself up for a failure and failure, although it is part of the learning process, may not help you to establish lasting self-confidence.
Instead, set goals for yourself that are challenging, but ones that you know you can reach and successfully accomplish with a bit of hard work and determination.
Self-confidence comes not just from the accomplishment of our goals, but more from the knowledge of the hard work we invested into accomplishing them. Almost every true soldier knows that it's not just the winning of the battle that makes a soldier, but more importantly it's the battle itself that makes a soldier a soldier.
Yes, soldiers do reflect upon the glory of victory, but they reflect more upon the sweat, blood, and tears that made the victory possible. Lasting self-confidence is developed through the same principle.

Train Your Brain to Defuse Tension

By

Photo: meditation-nation.com/

Sometimes it comes over you like a sudden inner storm. At other times, it builds up incrementally until you feel like your brain might explode from the pressure. Or it might show up as a pain in your neck or tightness in your back. The experience is tension and we often blame it on what's going on around us at the moment. Whether it's work deadlines, relentless bills to be paid, an argument with your spouse, or the baby crying in the middle of the night when you're craving sleep-we point to what's happening around us at the moment we feel tense and say "that's to blame."
However, what if tension were an inside job? What if you could train yourself in a few simple steps to handle it-to master it and release it? It may not be as difficult as you think. There are three inner steps that can turn moments of tension into moments of self-mastery, peace, and resolution. If you can catch yourself in the moment of tension and apply these three steps, you can free yourself on the inside and turn around any situation for the better.
Step one is recognizing the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that you're maintaining at the moment you feel tension.
Inner recognition is job one. Own your tension and recognize what you are doing that is making you feel that way. To do that, take a timeout the moment you feel tension rising up and taking you over. If you're in the heat of a challenge or argument, excuse yourself, and step out of the situation for a few minutes. If you're interacting with others, assure them that you'll be back in a moment after you've taken a moment to compose yourself.
By taking a break from the action, you've inserted a mental pause in what is happening. You've stopped the situation from escalating and interrupted any reactive patterns that have been triggered. Taking a break gives you an opportunity to step back and observe your own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, so you can identify exactly where you're coming from and why it's making you feel tense.
A couple good questions to ask yourself in that moment are:
A. What am I thinking "should" happen right now?
B. What words are running through my head?
These questions will get at the thoughts and beliefs that are controlling your mind at that moment. For example, you might be thinking that something "should" be done a certain way or that someone "should" behave differently. The words running through your head may give you some clues.
Once you've identified what you're thinking and consciously linked it to your tension, you might ask yourself a third question:
C. How does this feel in my body right now?
See if you can locate and describe the emotion and/or physical sensation in your body. Once you've done that, take a few slow deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth to blow off that steam. You can even imagine that you're breathing in and out of the any area of your body that feels tense. That might sound funny, but it can really help.
Now, you're ready for step two: realize that there are points of view other than the one you were holding at that moment.
What you were thinking, feeling, and believing was just one way of looking at things-amongst many. You may feel justified in what you were thinking. It may even hold a key to resolving the situation. However, it will be helpful to you and everyone else involved if you realize that yours is just one point of view-and that there may be other equally valid points of view.
Now you're ready for step three: re-engage the situation seeking a new perspective.
Return to where you were and who you were with and see if it's possible to have a fresh start. A good place to begin is to ask to hear other's points of view. Acknowledge that you lost your cool and ask to hear the other person's perspective. As you listen, make eye contact, nod in acknowledgement of what they say, and repeat back to them what you've heard. When you've truly heard someone else, it widens your perspective and opens them to listening to you in return.
Then, it's your turn to express your perspective (which may have changed) in relation to what they have said. Express what you have to say without blaming. Be as factual and specific as possible and reference how what happened affected you.
You can then move forward to discuss alternatives. Freed from the tension of that preceding heated moment, all parties will probably be more open to come to a mutually agreeable solution.
If your tension arose from circumstances and not from an interaction with someone else, see if you can engage those events from a new perspective. See if you can allow the current conditions to speak to you and show you a solution. Engage what is happening with fresh eyes and pay attention to details you may have previously missed.
Practicing these three steps is a recipe for defusing tension and creating positive solutions:
1. Stop what you're doing, take a break, and recognize where you're coming from at the moment.
2. Realize that yours is just one point of view amongst many possibilities.
3. Re-engage the situation looking to understand other points of view and discover solutions.
The more you practice these three steps, the quicker you'll be able to defuse tension and move forward peacefully and productively. It all starts by pausing and recognizing where you're coming from and then learning to work well with yourself on the inside. How To Handle Your Stress

By

Photo: wbjournal.com

It's impossible to live a totally stress-free life. When we experience stress and feel anxious, the stress hormones our body release in response to the situation can cause our heart rate and blood pressure to increase. Many of us have become accustomed to our pressurized lifestyle and are able to cope well in crises, but if we find ourselves over-functioning with too many demands on our times, or we have deadlines piling up at work and frequent arguments at home, over time we may begin to feel consistently stressed and anxious or physically run down. This will affect our mental and physical wellbeing.
Stress is something that is quite difficult to measure on a scale as we all respond differently to potential stressful situations. Common signs of stress building up include:
1. Disturbed sleep and feeling tired all the time
2. Depression, anxiety, panic attacks
3. Frequent minor infections from a weakened immune system
4. Migraine and tension headaches
5. Flare-ups of skin problems such as eczema and acne
6. Indigestion or symptoms of irritable bowel systems
If you recognize any of above symptoms, chances are ongoing stress in your life is affecting your health. It is important to re-learn how to relax so practice some simple relaxation techniques, yoga or meditation to handle your stress level.
Use simple Deep Breathing Meditation to relax and re-energize your body and mind. Follow these steps:
1. Sit in a comfortable position, or lie flat on a bed or floor with your knees bent. Place one hand on your abdomen and the other on your chest. Close your eyes and relax.
2. Quieten your body and mind. Relax, and imagine you are on the beach or at some of your favourite location: Feel the sights, sounds and smells.
3. Slow your breathing. Breath in for a count of 5, pause for 1-2 seconds, then breath out for a count of 5.
4. Consciously release all your tension with each out-breath. Feel your abdominal muscles push out the last of each breath, and your diaphragm expand as you inhale.
5. Repeat as many times as you want, even 5-10 minutes will help you to feel calmer and centred.
How to be stress free? Try these solutions:
1. Make lists: Write down everything that you need to do in the week ahead, and then prioritize. It will help you plan your time carefully so the really important things get done first.
2. Communicate: Simply by talking and sharing your stress to your family and friends will help you a lot. So don't worry of admitting your pressure, there's nothing wrong with that.
3. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise reduces stress levels and depression.
4. Accept offers of help: Lower your ego and accept others help willingly. This will do many benefits to your health rather than not accepting the help offer and struggling alone doing the un-finish task.
5. Learn to say NO: If you find extra work is a burden to you, learn to say NO in a good way. If you really need to help out, delay the job for the next day.
6. Find some 'Relax' time for yourself: This 'relax' time is an opportunity for you to get away from your friends and family. Have sometime for yourself to go to the gym, beach or maybe shop for your new wardrobe.

Use The Strength Of Your Imagination To Overcome Any Of Life's Setbacks

By:

Photo: 4.bp.blogspot.com

If you're having trouble figuring something anything out, you're best bet is to try to stay relaxed rather than becoming annoyed. You'll then realize that by applying just a bit of creative thinking, your difficulty will start to appear less challenging. The point is that by approaching your dilemma differently you'll be open to a greater scope of possible solutions.

The core to imaginative problem-solving is to stay open-minded by genuinely believing that there may be any number of possible solutions to your problem. After all, mankind has evolved because of our ability to find solutions to problems that were formerly thought to be unsolvable.

Keeping this in mind will guide you to be slightly more creative in the way you approach life's irritations.

First of all, you will need to get a firm idea of what the problem is by clarifying each facet of it separately. You may find that the problem then becomes clearer because you'll be able to sweep away concerns that aren't really connected to the central problem. So the most important thing to do is to take a rational approach and itemize the constituent parts of the problem, making a commitment to put out of your mind any issues which are irrelevant or unimportant.

After that, in light of your clearer understanding of the real challenges involved, take a step back and make a concerted attempt to have a fresh look at your difficulty. Give yourself a shake and imagine that you've just walked in on this challenge. I find that if I make believe that the challenge belongs to another person someone I care deeply about and really want to help the problem becomes less psychologically charged and therefore much easier to tackle.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone trying to help from the 'outside in', as it were. By doing this, you'll find a key to unearthing some great new solutions that you hadn't considered before. Imagine yourself presenting one solution off the top of your head don't be concerned at this stage if the proffered solution isn't going to be effective. Just work with it.

Say to yourself: 'Well, that solution might not work for me, but what else does it suggest?' Perhaps there is a nugget of information in there that may nudge your brain to come up with a better all-round solution? Alternatively, turn the suggested solution on its head and use it to help you think of another option that may be the complete opposite. Sometimes, approaching a problem in reverse can really help.

Discuss the problem by actually speaking out loud with yourself, alternating between being you and being your imagined friend (make sure you can't be overheard!). Genuinely put yourself in the shoes first of yourself and then of the friend who is attempting to help. It may help you to inhabit each role more fully if you stand up and sit down as you 'discuss' the subject.

Of course, if at all possible, talk about the issue with a 'real' person too preferably someone you like and admire because you'll be much more likely to be open to their suggestions. You may be surprised to discover a great number of different approaches to tackling problems. Your challenge may be someone else's opportunity!

Don't expect to solve all problems right away. This procedure may take a little practice to come up with the desired results. As long as you stay with it and don't become despondent, there is always a chance that a solution will present itself. And remember, 'sleeping' on a problem genuinely does work to unlock hidden pathways to all manner of possible solutions.

My advice is to keep on trying these techniques anytime you're faced with a problem big or small. Determination is the final answer to solving your problems. Just don't give up until you've come up with a solution you're pleased with. More often than not, once you've identified the solution you'll be pleased you were presented with the problem in the first place because solving it has led you to scenarios you wouldn't have considered otherwise.

The Best Ever Tips For Self Motivation In Life

 By:

 Photo: selfexceed.com

Motivation is the process of directing ones focus, concentration, skill, and talent towards attaining a common task or goal. The motivation can come from an internal or external source. The former is the technique of motivating by self and is also called as Self motivation. External motivation refers to the influence of an external source or factor to motivate an individual in accomplishing a task or goal. Without proper motivation, no one can succeed in life. In order to be successful in life, one needs to have a proper vision, has to dream big, must be hungry for success, must be able to stand on his or her own leg under any circumstance, and must be willing to accept pain.

One who doesn't have proper motivation in life ends up being the loser while the one that is motivated becomes the winner. Turning weakness into strength is very important. When a loser says, "I can't handle it", a winner says "I can and will do it". Losers are the ones that are always waiting for ideal conditions in life. But practically speaking, there are no ideal conditions in life. Winners have always succeeded in adverse conditions; they don't wait for the ideal condition in life. A winner translates dreams into reality whereas a loser translates reality into dreams.

I would like to bring up a popular quote that goes like this, "Positive thinking makes things possible". But the fact is positive thought alone doesn't guarantee success. It's only positive thinking when combined with efforts that takes you closer to success. Negative thinking only induces fear in your mind and ultimately decreases the probability of winning.

I would like to share an interesting story that I happened to read on the websites while I was surfing with my high-speed Internet connection powered by Verizon FiOS Internet. I hope all of you remember the great boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Even when he was new to professional boxing, he always got in to the ring with a great amount of positive thinking. He used to say 'I am the greatest, I am the champion'. He never doubted his abilities. He believed in himself, believed in his efforts and had only positive thoughts in his mind. When Ali looked at his opponent who held the title, he said, "You may have the title but I'm the champion". But he just didn't become a champion by saying so. He fine-tuned his mind and believed that he was the champion. Even when he was practicing, he used to say, 'I am the champion' literally every time he punched the bag. And he did become the champion one day. No wonder, his name glitters in golden letters in the history of professional boxing!

Winners put in that extra effort even when it hurts. A wrestling champion once said while practicing he felt so exhausted that he wanted to give up. But, for a moment he thought what his opponent would be doing. He pictured his opponent practicing harder for the title. So, he went back into more practice. After a long practice session, he could not take it anymore. Again, he thought for a moment what his opponent would be doing. This time, he pictured his opponent in the shower. Guess what he did? He went for more practice to get that extra edge. He was so hungry for that title and finally emerged victorious in the match!

Winners don't do different things, they do things differently. They put in that extra effort even when it hurts. Winners make the days count whereas losers count the days. Losers are the ones that always come up with a slew of excuses. You would have heard people say that they didn't have enough time to finish or that they ran out of time. That's not true; that's the excuse they give to their failure.
I would like to conclude with a quote.

"There's is nothing more powerful for self-motivation than the right attitude. You can't choose or control your circumstance, but can choose your attitude towards your circumstances". So, that's about it, friends. That's the importance of motivation in life. Find something to motivate you during difficult times; you will definitely reach great heights in life. Good luck!

How to Stay Focused When You Feel Overwhelmed and Want to Quit

By

Photo: rickcooper.typepad.com/

According to Gallup Poll researchers, discovering your inner themes will help you be a better worker, a more fulfilled person, and an understanding friend. Managers who recognize the themes of others will be able to inspire productivity and better communication in the workplace.
Are You A Focus Talent Or Personality Type Of Theme?
You might be a Focus Talent theme if...
You always ask yourself, "Where am I headed today?"
You need a clear sense of purpose and destination to engage in meaningful work.
You set goals, determine priorities, and filter actions by what will move you ahead.
You are impatient with delays, obstacles and tangents that seem off-course.
You are a valuable team member who keeps groups focused on the main road.
You have a great eye for what is important and essential to the task at hand.
At your best, you are disciplined, purposeful, precise, and excellent at both goal-setting and go-getting. On the other hand, people may think you are absorbed, rigid, intense, and stressed. You may find it difficult to relax at times.
Focus Talent Theme Actions
To be the best Focus theme possible, you should...
1. Seek roles where you can work independently toward your goals with little to no supervision.
2. Set goals that include disciplined timelines and measurements that can indicate progress.
3. Write down your goals and look at your list often to feel like you are purpose-driven and in-control.
4. Share your short-term and mid-term goals with your manager to get more breathing room.
5. Help others set goals, summarize group progress, and take charge in setting timelines for projects.
6. Practice letting others think and speak, for their "detours" may lead to discoveries and new knowledge.
7. Set goals for your personal life as well so you do not become imbalanced or too work-obsessed.
Managing The Focus Personality Theme Worker
The Focus personality theme worker likes controllable environments that are not overloaded with supervision. You can check in with this worker often to discuss goals and progress, however, as he will like talking about the work at hand. This person is not always sensitive to the plight of others, so watch out for workers who may feel "trampled upon" by your super-driven employee. During meetings, adhere to the agenda and avoid tangents to win respect. Present change in terms of "new goals," "new measures of success" and "a renewed sense of purpose." Ask this person to get involved with deadline and company goal-setting. Allow Focus themes to participate in time management seminars and tasks that will help them boost their efficiency.

Anxiety is a universal human phenomenon. It is defined as a strong feeling of fear or dread with an unknown cause. Everyone has experienced being anxious at some point of their life. Everyone may feel anxious, especially when facing an unfamiliar situation. Once anxious, you want to run away from the feeling and want to go back to normal but you just don't have control over it. You only wish that things go back to normal again.
There are people who regularly experience anxiety. They feel that they are facing an unfamiliar situation more often than a normal person does. Almost everything feels strange to them. This type of anxiety is already an alteration of mental ability. It has been believed and studied that frequent anxiety attacks are related to regular exposure to stressors. According to studies, anxiety is part of the human reaction to stress.
There are four levels of anxiety. People who experience increased pulse and blood pressure experience mild anxiety. These people are still alert and can solve a problem. People with elevated vital signs, tense muscles, and diaphoresis, a state when there is excessive sweating, are in the moderate level of anxiety. They are usually tense and fearful. Their attention is focused on one concern. The third level of anxiety is severe. They are in a state of fight-or-flight response, dry mouth, and numb extremities. They are the ones who could barely move due to extreme anxiety. Their sensory perception is decreased. They can only focus on details and are unable to learn new information. The fourth and last level of anxiety is panic. Panic's physical manifestation is more severe than the third level. They are totally overwhelmed by the anxiety. They tend to ignore external cues, focused only on internal stimuli, and are unable to learn.
People who experience anxiety more often need proper attention and intervention. This problem should not be taken lightly. Dealing with these people requires a lot of patience. To help lessen anxiety, careful listening is needed. Looking at the person with unbroken eye contact is necessary. Always maintain a calm and unhurried approach. When it is your turn to speak, talk in a slow and clear manner. Use a firm voice, not loud. Offering of a hand or giving a back rub helps the anxious person control his or her emotions. And if possible, decrease noise and bright lights to elicit calm behavior. Apart from these interventions, it is suggested to seek for a medical help. Medical doctors may prescribe anxiolytic drugs to decrease anxiety levels. What is really important here is that this condition should not be ignored. Proper and prompt care should be given.
The fact is, panic attacks and panic disorder are real conditions that have definite diagnostic criteria. We don't know all the reasons why these conditions might develop, but we do know its not a failure of personality. To know more about it, check out http://www.panicattackrelease.com/
