Who Is Deciding How You React To Your Feelings?

Are your emotional reactions automatic or on purpose?

Are you frustrated with how you continue to react the same way every time a specific situation or feeling comes up?

Have you desired less stress and anxiety in your life, and more pleasure and happiness?

If you had a choice, would you choose anger, resentment, fear, worry, and jealousy to be a consistent part of your life?
More likely, I think you want more happiness, joy, fulfillment, understanding, and love to be present.

Well, you can choose, you can change yourself one small step at a time in all areas of your life if you choose to.
Your personal growth is up to you; you can cease allowing your automatic reactions to guide your life.

You can react to your feelings any way that you want?

CHANGING HOW YOU REACT TO A FEELING
Just because you have reacted in a certain way does not mean you must continue to do so.
You can actually change your reaction any time you choose.

We all react to the specific feelings that come up when something occurs. And how we react is based on how we perceive the occurrence.

If you can change the way you perceive something, you change your reaction to it. And changing your reaction will alter the outcome of yourfeelings and actions.

NOTICE, ASSESS AND CHANGE
The first thing is to just notice how you are reacting to a given feeling.
This may seem difficult at first, as most likely you are accustomed to living on auto-pilot, allowing whatever thoughts come up, to rule the moment.

You can start by thinking about your reaction after the fact, then gradually as you become more aware of this, you will notice while you are reacting.
After awhile, as you become more aware, you will find that you can easily notice your reactions right as they are coming up.

Then you will be able to quickly analyze how you would prefer to react and do so.
This can take time, as your habitual reactions will want to slip in as they always have.
With persistence and determination you can take command of your reactions.

VALUES AND DESIRED LIFE
Look at your personal values when deciding how you would rather react.
What reaction would better serve the values you want to live by?
How would you rather behave in certain situations?
Could you reduce negative effects and increase the more desirable?

If your present reaction is one of anger, is anger what you want in your life, or would there be another reaction more in line with how you want to live your life?
You can change much of what your experience in life by changing your perceptions

THIS IS CHANGE
You can eliminate the experience and results of your anger if you choose not to allow anger to be a part of your reaction in a given situation.
Getting command of your thinking and choosing to direct it how you want, will gradually bring more of what you want into your life.

You will open yourself to a new life with every reaction you alter to more align with how you desire to be.
You don't need to continuously be subject to undesirable automatic reactions that are not beneficial to you.

Start noticing your reactions, and see them as something that can be changed.
Determine what you DO want in your life.
Search within yourself for what you DO want your life to include.
What are your values, your purpose, and your mission?

Weight Management For Permanent Weight Loss

More and more people today are overweight. Obesity is a growing problem that is out of control. Weight management in today's world is not easy.

Why do we have problems with weight management? This should be simple, eat less and exercise more. Why is it so hard to do?

First, our society rizes food and lots of it. We learn to live to eat, rather than eat to live. We love food and we enjoy eating. Second, we love to socialize and much of that socializing is done around food. There are buffets at parties, birthday cakes at the office, candy bars at the water cooler, and many other opportunities all day long to eat. Eating good food isn't the problem, but eating too much usually is.

The first step to controlling your weight is accepting the responsibility for it. If you really
feel like you have an undiagnosed health problem contributing to your weight, go to your doctor
immediately. Otherwise, accept that you are the main reason for being the weight that you are. So, get over it. Forget the past and blaming yourself or anyone else. Realize thatweight management is something that you should do for life - YOUR life - and TAKE ACTION NOW!!!!

Here are some tips and a few ways to control your intake of food on a daily basis.

1. Increase your intake of water.
An active metabolism requires large quantities of water. Drink a tall grass of cold water before each meal and every time you feel hungry between meals.

2. Utilize Mental Techniques For Change
Hypnosis can help curb your appetite and get your unconscious mind on the page as your conscious goals. Reiki can also help with reducing your stress or helping you resolve relatedweight management issues. Use these relaxation methods, to reduce stress
and stop binges due to stress. Also, specific yoga breathing techniques can help speed up up your metabolism.

3. Increase your intake of fiber.
Eat beans, fresh vegetables, fruit, oat bran, and other high fiber foods. Also, eat healthy foods and reduce fats.

4. Don't skip meals.
Your first meal after waking activates your metabolism. Skipping meals causes your body to go into a "starvation" mode, slowing dow to conserve energy.

5. Reduce your intake of caffeine
To lose weight faster give up the caffeine laced drinks such as tea, coffee.

6. Increase Spice
Hot, spicy foods, like hot peppers and mustards, may help to speed up your metabolism.

7. Exercise
Exercise enhances the fat burning process. Exercise does not have to be strenuous to be effective and help speed up your metabolism. Walking around the block a few times at lunch, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and parking at a spot that isn't convenient, are all examples of ways that you can easily bring exercise into your life.

8. Start A New Hobby
Halt eating as a reward or positive activity. Take up a new hobby that involves some activity, such as dancing, hiking, golf, tennis, or racquetball.

9. Slow Down
Take your time eating to make sure than every mouthful is chewed at least 20 times. When you eat more slowly you feel full sooner and on less food.

10. Forget about fad diets.
Fads, diets and quick weight loss prgrams are ineffective. In the end you'll gain back more than you lost. Stay away from these and stick to sound, healthy eating principles.

Remember to eliminate eating between meals! If you feel that you much have "something" remember to drink a cold glass of water and eat an apple instead of junk food.

Also, remember that old saying, "A moment on the lips, forever on the hips!"

Teen Depression Can Be Beat

This article has been written because the author knows what a nightmare depression is at any age, and particularly so during the teenage years

It is not clear what factors contribute to teen depression. Some are saying that it is caused by emotional factors while others say that biological factors contribute to it. There are even cases wherein it is the combination of both these plus other factors that lead to teen depression. Whatever the reason is, the effects and the result on teenagers are always the same.

Teen depression factors and what you should know.

1 Genes.

Depression can run in the family. Your parents, grandparents and those before them might have undergone the same things. So it will not come as a surprise that you will experience depression during your lifetime.

The connection leads researchers to believe that genes may have something to do with depression. But then, this should not be generalized because this condition can sometimes lapse certain generations only to be seen at the next.

Then again, there is a higher possibility for those with histories of this condition to acquire the symptoms and the ordeal.

2. Environment.

Your environment can play a role in acquiring teen depression. Examples of this are when you have experienced death in the family or the separation of your parents. It is very much likely that you will have a hard time accepting the situation. You will come to the point where you will blame yourself.

When you come to this point, your emotions will take the better of you. You probably will want to just be by yourself and think thoughts that will lead to your depression.

Another example of environmental factors is peers. Since you are always together with your friends, everything that they do would be imitated by you. If you chance upon the wrong crowd, you can be lead to addiction or pressure that you find too hard to handle.

3. Personality.

According to experts, those who have lower self esteem and have a negative outlook on life have the tendency to experience teen depression. This is also the same case for those who surrender easily to stress.

Personality is molded over time. It goes way back to the kind of upbringing that your parents gave you. Persons that succumb to teen depression or suicide mostly come from an unhappy family. They are also the ones that have experienced trauma in their younger years.

Teenagers with a problematic childhood background will experience its effects when they are growing up. Even if it does not lead to depression, it would still appear later on in their adult lives.

These are the most common factors that are claimed to be the causes of this condition. Knowing about these things will prepare you if ever you are near or are at that certain stage in life.

Teen depression can really affect your life if you let yourself fall into its claws. There are now existing centers that help parents and teens see the signs early so it will not develop into the more disastrous level.

If you already know that you have a family history of teen depression, always be aware of its symptoms so you can have the necessary treatment taken. Make sure that you do not let outside factors affect you. As much as possible, take the necessary precautions so that you will not become a part of the growing number of teenagers being ruined by this nightmare problem.

Let me just finish by saying that there is a lot more information out there on this subject, if you want to know more. The local bookstore, and local library will have a number of books on this topic, and there are also quite a few helpful Blogs freely available.

The Hidden Links Between Depression And Heart Disease

While there are tales of people dying of a broken heart, such sayings have long been relegated to the fantasy bin. However, recent research has shown that there are true connections betweendepression and heart disease.

Depression was once considered to be only a psychological disorder with no physiological underpinnings. However, it is now known that depression often has biochemical origins and can therefore be treated with medication like other types of diseases.

However, the biological origin of some forms of depression means that there could be a fundamental link between the two disorders on a physical level. However, it is also possible that depression may make sufferers less likely to take care of themselves properly which can increase the occurrence of heart disease. Likewise, the discovery that one has heart disease can trigger depression in some who may have had a latent susceptibility to the disorder.

Scientific studies have linked the occurred of coronary heart disease and ischaemic heart diseases, both of which are related to poor blood flow to certain sections of the heart and are one of the biggest killers in the world, have been statistically linked with depressive disorders. It has long been known that there is a stress andheart disease connection and, in this case, it is easy to understand.

Stress releases a number of chemicals, including adrenaline, which cause the body to go into "fight or flight" mode. These chemicals do a number of things, including increasing blood flow to the muscles, increasing the rate of respiration, and increasing heart rate, all of which can possibly damage heart muscle tissue. However, the link with clinicaldepression is somewhat more vague. It is possible that there is a chemical link between the two diseases; however, many scientists suspect that the relationship is not physical in nature but rather a natural couplet since the prospect of facingheart disease may make some people depressed and some people with depression may not be able to care for themselves as adequately as those who do not suffer from the disease which makes it more likely that they will sufferheart disease from simple neglect. People who suffer from depression are also more likely to abuse tobacco and alcohol and frequently do not exercise regularly.

Those who suffer from both heart disease and depression should make sure that their psychiatrist or psychologist is in close contact with their cardiologist. Since the two disorders are related, the treatment should be coordinated to make sure that the treatment of one of the diseases will not negatively impact the other.

Both heart disease and depression are disorders whose prognosis declines with time. Therefore, it is important that both are detected early in order to have the best possible patient outcomes.

Why Are Some People So Lucky In Life

We have all been around people who just seem to have that Midas touch. Whatever they seem to do they just can?t fail. They always appear to be at the right place at the right time, they have things seemingly fall into place in their lives and they would appear to be happy and successful in life. Then you have the other type of people who no matter their potential they have never been able to rise above mediocrity. They encounter obstacles and failure at every turn. No matter how well intentioned they are they just can?t seem to get things together and they lack any real success or happiness.

So what do lucky people have that makes them lucky.

*They are less anxiety. It appears that whenever you come in contact with someone that is lucky they are more relaxed and peaceful. They aren?t having to deal with anxiety, stress and other negative issues. You might argue that its because they are lucky that they don?t have stress and anxiety. But if you think about it, it is because they aren?t anxious and stressed that they are able to see opportunities and breakthroughs that you would otherwise miss. With clarity and peace of mind you are able to better discern opportunities that are presented to you and with clarity of mind you are able to determine whether its something you would pursue.

*They have a positive expectation of life. If you want to be lucky you have to expect to be lucky. The world has a funny way of getting what you want. So if you tell yourself that you?re a failure, and that your unlucky in every respect then you might want to skip the whining when your life turns out that way. Luckypeople have a positive expectation out of life, they expect good things to happen to good people and they go out of their way to look out for these occurrences in their life. You can have two people walk into a party, one person doesn?t want to be at the party so goes in there with a mentality that its going to be a waste of time while the other person is looking forward to the party. If you were to interview the two of them leaving the party one person might have been stuck in long conversations with boringpeople while the other had a great time and met new people. So why is it that two people can go to the same party, even be in the same room and yet have to drastically different experiences. It all comes down to expectation.

*Be open minded. Lucky people because of their open mindedness create more opportunities in life. Because unlucky people have a negative disposition they tend to be closed minded about things as well and therefore closed to opportunities that would be beneficial in their lives. Luckypeople however see the opportunities for what they are, they are open to learning about new things and experiencing new things and because of their positive disposition towards life they generally get a positive outcome. These new learning?s and experiences all help them to see greater opportunities and therefore enable them to take advantage of them at a rapidly quicker pace and advance quicker than unluckypeople at them.

It would seem to appear that lucky people aren?t born lucky, they create it by the people they become. So if you want to be luckier in life you need to start changing who you are, after all if you have been doing what you have been doing and aren?t getting the results you want, what have you got to lose by trying a new strategy.

How to Become a Good Parent

Children naturally look for role models to shape their attitudes and behaviors. As parents, it is important for us to make sure that they have plenty of positive responsibility models.

There is a lot of enough negative surrounding our children and much of the adult world can be negative, apathetic or mediocre. If we do not actively focus on being positive person, then other can dampen our children natural enthusiasm and optimism.

The first thing to remember about positive role models for your child is that despite anecdotal evidence to the contrary statistical studies demonstrate that the overwhelming majority of children consider their own parents to be their most important person. This is true not only for young children but even teenagers. So the most important thing we can focus on as parents is to be great, positive to ourselves.

1. Show your child that you actively work on a positive attitude
2. Let your child see you setting and achieving goals
3. Talk to your child about your own positive.

One thing to shy away from where role models are concerned is being careful not to overtly criticize when your child has identified with certain part himself, even if you have a problem with them If your child looks up to an unsavory pop star, your criticism could cause antagonism rather than learning. Instead, provide a balanced point of view by seeking out something positive to mention about the hero for instance that he must have been very dedicated to his goals to reach his current status. When you need to criticize, be as specific as you can and explain what you dislike about the persons behavior, rather than trying to label them as all bad.

More ways to expand the positive role models available to your child include:

4. Help your child to find a person who has excelled in a field in which your child has a talent or hobby
5. Talk to your child about social issues and then show them real people either local to your community, or in the news who have worked to make a difference
6. Introduce your child to people you think will be good character, and talk about the admirable qualities of these people
7. Together with your child, find people from history and make a scrap book or collage about the ones that excite or interest your child the most
8. When you see your child demonstrating a behavior that he associates with a particular positive character that you have talked about, praise him
9. Encourage your child to daydream, imagining himself in his hero shoes. For example, if your boy wants to be a great golfer, when you take him to the putting green or driving range, suggest that he pretend that he is Tiger Woods for the afternoon.

How To Activate Your Personal Success

What do I mean by Activating Your Personal Success? In my book Awaken the Genius I point out that each one of us possesses inherent skills, abilities and resources. Skills are obvious these are things that you do better than everyone else around you, or at least as well. Abilities could be physical or mental in nature. Some people have the ability to do math, others have the ability to do art, as examples. Resources are our inner ability to handle and manage situations. A resource would be the skill to be patient when outside influences seem to be slow or difficult. Another resource might be the ability to transform anger into flexibility.

With hypnosis you learn how to cultivate these inner resources that are at the core of who and what you are. At Positive Changes we believe that you are far greater than you have been lead to believe. Far more capable that you have yet allowed yourself to become.

You have started a journey into the world of self-mastery. That journey is to develop who and what you are at the greatest possible level. I believe we all have a internal blueprint. A blueprint that was there when you were born. This blueprint represents your true potential.

How was your success blueprint developed? Psychologists have determined that only 15% of your knowledge is in technical training and the balance of 85% is represented in the personal qualities such as:

? How a person sets goals
? How a person uses their memory and recall
? How creativity is used in a persons life
? If a person responds calmly to situations
? How enthusiastic a person is about their own personal life or the lives of others
? If you are diplomatic under stress or not
? How relaxed you are when you are put to the test of stress or anger or any other negative emotion
? If you have personal confidence or not
? How decisive are you, are you able to make decisions
? How aggressive are you, when you see something you want do you go after it
? How do you get along with others
? Do you procrastinate or do you take action.

All of these are learned through life itself. They are not learned through books or through classroom experiences. So, it is time you cultivated these inner skills. This inner knowledge will help you to Master Your Mind and therefore Master Your Life.

When picking out whatever it is you want to accomplish there is a few things you need to consider. Is the result totally up to you? If it is dependent upon you winning the lottery or some external force outside of your control then I am going to suggest you pick something else. It is best to use your mind to accomplish things you have control over. I can't teach you to turn water into wine or to walk across water. What we are talking about is Mind Mastery, the mastery of your mind in your own personal life.

So, think of this goal you have in your mind. Hopefully, you have thought of something you want to accomplish. Imagine all of the unseen forces of your mind going to work for you helping you to accomplish that goal. With hypnosis you don't have to worry about all of the details of how and why and what you are going to need to accomplish this goal. The key here is to think of the "End Result", keep it focused in your mind.
