What To Do When You're Stressed

 by Godfrey Philander

Photo:

This is a terrific tip from Touch For Health to support you when you're stressed, angry, anxious or disturb. Undertake keeping your frontal eminences. These are bumps on your forehead that many individuals hold instinctively when they're disturb.

For those of you who don't do this of course, let me support you locate them. Feel up from the middle of your eyebrows going towards your hairline. Your forehead comes outwards before it curves back in towards the hairline. Hold your forehead at the points where it is furthest out - about 3cms (1. 25 inches) above the middle of every eyebrow.

While you hold these points think about the stressful event. It may be something that has already happened, something that is about to occur, or something you fear may never occur! Gradually you should find that the stress lessens.

You may use it for small things, but you may similarly use it for more traumatic events too. If the thoughts/images are too overwhelming initially, imagine you are observing it on a TV - you may at all times switch it off If becomes too stressful - you're the one in charge. You may watch it in black and white whether or not that feels more comfortable too. Use it to defuse anything that you feel anxious, stressed, angry or fearful about.

You may want to do it assorted times covering dissimilar aspects of the problem. You may do them one after the other, or at dissimilar times, whichever feels best for you.

As you hold the points and think about/imagine the event, you will in all likelihood start to feel calmer - you may even find that you start to feel a small bored thinking about this scenario that previously stressed or angered you such a lot.

Why does it work?

These peculiar points on the forehead, known as frontal eminences, are reflex points with connections to the central meridian (involved with the brain), the stomach meridian (and your stomach often churns when you're anxious or angry), and the bladder meridian (trips to the loo/bathroom are often necessary when we're apprehensive).

Not long ago i explained this self-support technique to a business colleague - a keen mountain biker who'd had a severe bike accident at 30 miles an hour and had broken his skull and collar bone. His bones had mended, but he was now sometimes fearful of the sport he loved.

This is what he wrote to me later:

"I don't recognise in which way to thank you sufficient for the technique you described to me over the phone the other day, it helped me enormously! "

The following week he sent me this message:

"Your tip worked once again last night - went out (in the pitch black with my Light&Motion 'daylighter' light) and did many severe single-tracking and downhilling! ! ! I never thought I'd be doing that again - ever! Thank you such a lot! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! It was brilliant! ! ! ! ! ! ! "

It may be hard to believe that something this simple could be efficient at removing anxiety and stress, but try it and see.

What to Do If You Have a Panic Attack

 by dons1

Photo: helpwithpanicattack.com

Knowing what to do if you have a panic attack can go a long way to helping you reduce the intensity and length of time of a panic attack. The symptoms of an attack are so distressing that a sufferer will have a constant 'fear' of having the next one. But this very fear can actually trigger panic (anxiety) attacks. So it's important to eliminate your fear in order to prevent panic attacks and eliminate your general anxiety.

We need first to look at the symptoms of a panic attack. The most common are; tightness across the chest, tight throat, dizziness, lightheadedness, shaking, nausea, hyperventilation, irregular heartbeat, racing heart, difficulty breathing, feeling of being detached from reality, feeling of some impending doom. You may not suffer all of these at the same time, but you'll suffer at least some of these.

You can see from the above that these can be signs of other problems so this leads us to the first step in 'what to do if you have a panic attack' series of tips...

Consult Your Doctor

If you have suffered any of the symptoms then consult you doctor for a proper diagnosis. They'll then propose appropriate treatment. For the purposes of this report which is all about 'what to do if you have a panic attack' we'll assume that your doctor has confirmed you are suffering from anxiety and have had a panic / anxiety attack.

Make A Decision On Whether To Take Drug-based Medication

Your doctor will most probably prescribe medication such as tranquilizers, antidepressants or beta-blockers. These work on the chemicals in the brain to help alleviate the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks. But they do have many negative side effects including dependency issues, which puts many people off their use. And they aren't a 'cure' for your general anxiety which is at the heart of your problem.

Talk things through carefully with your doctor and get to know the side effects of each drug they are proposing. Also ask about alternatives such as non-drug therapies. And also ask about other therapies and self-help treatments. They should be able to put you on to experts in those fields.

Use Therapy

Your doctor may well propose some psychological therapies alongside any drug treatment. But these can be used without the need for drugs. They are used to help change your negative thought processes to more positive ones. Perhaps the most well known is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Use Self-help Techniques

Even if you decide to use mainstream drug-based treatment, the use of self-help techniques can be invaluable in helping you cope with your anxiety and panic attacks by reducing stress and helping you relax more. For example, learn controlled breathing which is great to use during a panic attack for reducing both its intensity and its length. Other techniques are things such as self-hypnosis, meditation, yoga, relaxation exercises, etc.

Move Towards A Healthier Lifestyle

Daily exercise is great. 30 minutes every day has been proved to reduce stress and calm the mind. A healthy balanced diet is also important; it ensures that your body gets the right nutrients and maintains the right chemical balance in your body and brain. And uninterrupted sleep is vital. Make sure you get your full 8 hours every night.

Relieve Stress In All Areas Of You Life

The build-up of stress is a contributory factor in panic attacks. You need to remove stress where you can, e.g., end bad relationships, work less where possible, shop when it's less busy, try not to drive during rush hour, etc.

Get To Know That A Panic Attack Can't Harm You

It's very important to realise this fact. This realisation is an important step in handling the symptoms of a panic attack. The fear of impending doom you experience during an attack only makes the symptoms seem worse. The more you let this fear consume you during an attack, the more intense and longer the attack will be.

By understanding that you aren't about to die and that the symptoms are just your body's natural reaction to a 'spike' in stress / anxiety which it has misinterpreted as a physical 'danger signal', you'll be able to reduce both intensity and length. Always remember that a panic attack cannot harm you.

Eliminate Your Fear Of Having Another Panic Attack

All of the previous approaches either work on relieving the symptoms or help you cope with your affliction. They don't necessarily help with the core of the problem which is your continuing fear of having another panic attack. This fear you might be consciously aware of or not, but you have it nonetheless.

The problem is that this fear builds upon your already higher-than-normal levels of anxiety to such an extent that it can trigger an actual panic / anxiety attack. You have another attack so your fear increases; your overall anxiety increases even more and another panic attack occurs. It's a vicious cycle of anxiety that you need to break out of in order to prevent further panic attacks and eliminate your general anxiety.

To discover the simple 'ONE MOVE' technique that will eliminate your fear factor and so break your vicious cycle of anxiety at last, go here now http://eliminatepanicattacks.blogspot.com and get your old self back again.

Tired of Being Average? How about Becoming a Super Genius?

 by helmesystems@hotmail.com

Photo: steynian.wordpress.com

Throughout the past 20 years Tony McKenzie studied and practiced virtually every single accelerated learning method available, ranging from techniques such as speed reading and mind mapping to photo reading and mnemonics. Although he found a lot of these techniques valuable in helping him to learn at a much faster rate they always seemed to fall short of what he actually wanted.

What fascinated Tony McKenzie was the information in studies that have shown that individuals regressed through the use of hypnosis find they can recollect the sights, sounds, smells and tastes locked within memories that are decades old.

Professor Wilder Penfield, a Canadian surgeon, made an interesting discovery while performing a medical procedure on several of his epileptic patients; it involved examining the brain tissue of his patients while they were under a local anesthetic. He was astonished to discover that when he touched certain individual cells, his patients would unexpectedly remember experiences from their past.

More importantly, though, is that the patients would later say they didn't just remember the experience but relived it as if they were actually there, complete with tastes, smells, noises, colors and feelings. The clarity of the memories was the same regardless of whether they were a few hours or many years old.

Professor Penfield suggests that within the individual cells of the brain are the perfect memory of every event in our lives, and if we can find the right stimulus we can experience each one all over again. So in a moment of inspiration Tony McKenzie posed a simple question. Can the mind's capacity to remember large amounts of information be stimulated and produce instant speed learning? He then created a revolutionary auto-conditioning subliminal program that literally rewires the mind to accept a new reality as the absolute truth!

It actually required nothing more than a simple hand gesture and you could begin learning at genius levels of understanding with exceptionally clear recall of the material after only being exposed to it once.

Imagine how it must have felt to find out that you could easily multiply your learning ability by 1000 times and have exceptionally powerful recall of anything you read or listened to within the next 72 hours...without learning a complex memory system!

This system is so simple to learn that even a child can use it and begin applying it to school work almost immediately. All It Takes Is Three Minutes a Day for Three Days and You're Done!

Picture what you could do with this knowledge. You see that a great memory will get you more money. Being able to easily remember facts, ideas and concepts can give you a tremendous edge in business. Just picture the remarkable impression you can make when you can quote specific facts, prices, client information, product details . . . with ease!

In the continually shifting business world, being able to adapt, change and learn new skills is an essential skill that cannot be ignored. Having a powerful memory is the key factor to being able to stay ahead in the continual battle for sales, clients and market position.

The most important part of learning about Tony McKenzie's discovery is that it only takes 72 hours to see results. He discovered that clients who used his system did not have to practice until the cows came home in order to see results. The results began happening right away. They could train their minds to respond to a specific physical signal and that would allow them to rapidly absorb new information like a sponge immediately improving their overall performance.

A fantastic memory gets you better grades! You'll focus better and learn more while taking fewer notes, have better retention of lectures, books and study guides and experience a dramatic improvement in your test scores and exam results.

Imagine how this can help a college student. Imagine how easy it would be to learn a new language. In fact, Tony McKenzie discovered that it takes an average of approximately 30 days to learn a language.

The world always seems to progress over time; learning techniques along with memory improvements are a part of an empowering future. The question is, are you going to be a part of that empowering future too?

What Is It That Motivates You

 by jsolutions013

Photo:  life4seekers.co.uk

Motivation is a call to action; a thought that says it's time to move on an idea. It is the mind that makes the call; it's time to create an experience or demonstrate physically a thought in action. And the physical world is the playground for thoughts manifested into experience.

It's 8 am, two days after Christmas and I am sitting at my desk in front of my computer at home. A ship has been tied up at dock for two days just below my window. It is getting ready to set sail, its cargo fully loaded and the captain eager to move. He makes the decision and calls for tugs to pull him from the dock. The lines are pulled and the powerful little tugs ease the ship from its moorings. The captain's desire to move has been set in motion and the ship is off to fulfill its destiny.

The ship is the vessel for the mind, which is the captain. So which of these (captain or ship) is life and which is inanimate? Which is needed to demonstrate a ship filled with cargo sailing the ocean to another port? Without the ship there is no captain, and without the captain there is no ship; the experience cannot be manifested. They are inseparable and intimately connected. Both are objects of an experience imagined; it is only the experience that is real. It is the experience that is being manifested not the objects. There must be thought first, then intent, and cooperation between captain and vessel.

The very nature of life is movement. Where there is no movement you will find no life or no will to move. For humanity, movement requires an interaction with other things. Life wants to be recognized as being alive and therefore it seeks out other life forms to demonstrate its own existence. But it also uses so called lifeless things to accomplish the same thing. The separation between life forms is really just an illusion.

It is the mind wanting the body to move forward, and it has instructed the right leg to move first. The right leg then rests and waits for the left leg to catch up and move forward. Both are now working together in harmony with what the mind wants. We now have life demonstrated or experienced as being alive because it is moving; it is a thought put into motion. In other words a thought experienced physically.

All objects are alive in the truest sense of the word in that they have movement at a molecular level. We don't consider them sentient, but it is life, and it is the same life that animates us. It uses the same intelligence or mind to animate. There is not a separate mind for sentience or non sentience life.

Does the right leg know why it is moving or that the left leg and body will follow its lead? Is it only the mind that knows intent and outcome of movement? Likewise the ego commands spirit; not the other way around as we have been taught. The ego is the captain, the spirit is the power which creates, and it is the mind that motivates these actions. This is backwards from most religious teachings.

All physical elements are a thought manifested. If you are religious then you will know that it was God's thoughts made manifest as a physical universe. There is intelligence in everything you see, touch, smell, taste or feel. All things are moving at a molecular level and respond to thought. That has been demonstrated by quantum physicists in lab experiments many times. The thoughts of the observer influence the movement of sub molecular particles that he/she is watching.

I have been cooped up in my house for three days except for the times spent during the day to keep my car from being buried by the snow plow. In fear of loosing my space I have not been motivated to move the car anywhere. I am the only one on the street who has bothered to shovel out their space. I fear that as soon as I leave, the space will be filled, and I will have no place to park. Of course there are other choices; there always are.

Quite possibly the desire to move is not strong enough or I am missing the insight into the benefits of getting out of my box. Right now the coffin is feeling comfortable, but at the same time I am starting to feel a bit closed in (cabin fever). I don't celebrate Christmas, so I have missed out on the opportunity to be with others. I could have reached out to be with others who don't celebrate the season but I chose not to. The fact is that I'm loosing energy, my batteries need to be recharged and I need to find life so that I know I'm alive.

At this point I left the computer on and took a chance that my parking spot would still be there when I returned. I had breakfast and then purchased some groceries; all the time talking to as many people as possible. My energy level now moving up, my only concern was my parking spot. Coming up the hill on my street I noticed from a distance that a car was in my spot. Before I had time to panic I recognized the car as my neighbor's, and we agreed that he would move in there when I was gone to protect my spot.

So I manifested everything well. My left hand served my right and I did everything that I wanted. All of the fear that I had for the last four days was a waist of time. My thoughts are our own worst enemy.

However, the hidden thought was that I would prove or disprove my theory about a car moving into my spot. Because that was foremost on my mind; connecting with people may not have been the intent but a motive. Both events happened, a car had moved in, but it was with a prior arrangement and one I physically had control over. He wasn't home when I left, so the real challenge was to have him come back before me and before anyone else could take of the space.

This is just one simple little situation that happens to every one of us every day. In hindsight we can all see how well we created our circumstances and how things work out for us. The bottom line has not been revealed in this situation. There is no doubt that I overcame the fear that was holding me back from leaving my parking spot. But did I do it to prove my theory about someone moving in as soon as I left or did I demonstrate that by overcoming fear, things work out in my favour; that it works for me?

What was the low energy or antsy feeling about? Did that come first as a way to motivate me to move forward? Or did I want to demonstrate my thoughts about my space and then create the low energy and closed in feeling? For four days I have been thinking about the parking. I only noticed the low energy this morning.

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that for most of the time that we do things, and we do not know why we do or want them. For instance we may say that we want a million dollars so that we can be happy. But what is it that we really want. We may get the million a few months after requesting it, and then at the same time we get terminal cancer. So where is the happiness? The truth is that if we wanted to experience happiness we did not need to create the million dollars. We could have a thought about being happy and then experience it in any situation. We could also manifest a million dollars just for the sake of experiencing it without any emotion attached. If the intent is not understood your desire may not be experienced.

The truth is that most of us just lumber forward putting one foot in front of the other trying to maintain our balance and without not really knowing why or where it will lead us.

Although this really is the only purpose for life, it does not satisfy the ego. The proof is in this writing. When I started it I had know idea where it was going. I just wanted to fill up some space. My ego is now satisfied.

Life is movement; that is all it is. It has no motive, no purpose, and no feelings. Life is spirit driven by the desire of the mind to animate the body to experience something physical. It is not a learning process; it is a doing process. And as for your involvement; reading this article is simply an opportunity for you to dismiss it as being either this or that in your experience. It only has purpose or value if you give it some. You'll find that all experiences in your life are like that. You create them to experience something or nothing at all. It's still all about doing.

When you discover the difference between your motivation and what your intent is; you will better be able to focus your power to create what you really want, and get the correct results.

What motivates you? What are your intentions and are they in harmony with desire?

Depression among Children - Know the Facts

 by petersonbran

Photo:

Depression regardless of its cause can also be a cause of obesity. Children suffering from depression stay at home more often. Since they have difficulty relating with other children they prefer to stay at home and watch television instead. They become couch potato. They have the tendency to eat more than what is being required of them. If this continues these children will gain weight above the ideal weight for their age. Overtime, these children become obese. They have less time engaging in physical activities too, which could aggravate their weight problem.

Alcoholism is matter of serious concern, not confined to any group, culture or country. Universally it creates professional, social, financial, legal, medical, psychological, and familial problems. The cost of alcoholism to the society is staggering by any calculations. Lost working days, accidents and related disability, family disrupts and resulting juvenile problems, and direct medical complications of alcohol abuse add up to a significant proportion of loss to nations" economy and well being. Alcoholism thus becomes a complex phenomenon deserving attention from deferent angles.

The case for exercise and health has primarily been made on its impact on diseases such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. However, there has been increasing research into the role of exercise in improving mental well-being, including global self-esteem.

A behavioral problem, such as fighting with parents and getting in trouble in school or with the law, is a major risk factor. Many people wrongly assume that teens who are sensitive and shy are the ones who are prone to suicide. In reality, the arrogant and obnoxious teenager is more prone to self destruction. He may seem to keep the world away in order to protect himself, but his greatest enemy is own lonely and depressed self. Unlike the shy ones, the obnoxious teen can come up with the "guts" to take away his own life.

For people going though depression, doctors often prescribe some common pills. However, FDA has warned that these drugs may lead to Antidepressant Suicides. Some of the most commonly prescribed pills are Prozac fluoxetine, Zoloft sertraline, Paxil paroxetine, Luvox fluvoxamine, Celexa citalopram, Lexapro escitalopram, Wellbutrin bupropion, Flexors venlafaxine, Serzone nefazodone, Remeron mirtazapine. FDA has appealed to pharmaceutical companies manufacturing all these drugs to issue a renewed suicide warning labels, on all these pills.

Depression in children and teenagers must be treated as a disease and should be diagnosed as early as possible. It requires continuous medical attention, and counseling at medical and family levels is a must. Depression among children and teenagers is often treated with cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal psychotherapy. Selective serotonin uptake inhibitors like Prozac and Zoloft are often considered to be the most effective strategies in dealing with symptoms of depression prevalent among children and teenagers.

Other causes of depression can include any physical changes that occur to our bodies. Severe medical conditions like Parkinson's disease, heart attacks, strokes and diabetes can make the individual believe that there is nothing worthwhile living for. The idea that your body cannot no longer do the things your mind expects it to do can create and overwhelming desire to believe that life will not be the same and it becomes easy to slip into a negative spiral of emotions but than treat such situations as positive influences on the changing circumstances of life. By feeling depressed the rate of recovery is delayed.

Learn And Be Guided About Social Anxiety

 by luciletaylor

Photo: squidoo.com

Have you experienced what it must be like meeting your big boss for the first time? The thought of being watched by your superior while working is stressful, isn't it? Or, maybe you are so anxious to go to a beach party because you have not shed enough pounds to wear the two-piece swim suit (who knows how many years have them!), and you are so worried on what the people might say if you wear them with those excess baggage wrapping around your body? Those feelings are just normally. For as long as you have reasons to be anxious about anything, it is perfectly normal .But, if the anxiety is eating you up and you become anxious about what other people might say, or think, or do to you, which you know does not have rational basis, and the worst part is, you find it difficult to control your thought or emotion, that is social anxiety.

Social anxiety or social phobia is one of the largest mental health care problems in the word in the present day. A person with social anxiety simply spends time alone, closeted, away from people. They tend to choose to be alone than to be around with other people for fear that they might not fit in some ways or the other. Even when they are with familiar people, they may still feel overwhelmed and have the feeling that every movement and thought they made have been constantly watched or criticized. The feeling of being observed or being misjudged is one of the things that keep them away from people.

People with social anxiety are often misdiagnosed and are usually labeled as schizophrenic, manic-depressive, among other detrimental misdiagnoses. Because there few social anxious people have heard of their own condition and have never seen it discussed on any media, they tend to think that they're alone in this world suffering from the disturbing symptoms. The tendency is they keep their condition to themselves for fear of being misjudged, and with the lack of info, education, and proper treatment social anxiety continues to impair their lives. In addition, when the time comes that people with social phobia finally gets to their feet and seeks help, the chances are very slim. When worst comes to worst, people who experienced this condition for a day, will have it everyday for the rest of hi/her life. They are people with social anxiety disorder.

One thing common to all socially anxious people is that they share the same knowledge that their thoughts and fears are basically irrational, which only means, they know exactly that the people they think are misjudging and criticizing them are not true at all. They acknowledged that their thoughts, doubts, and feelings are in a way exaggerated and irrational, yet, despite the fact that they know what's really going on, they find it hard to control, and still continue to feel that way.

If there's bad, there's always good, and the good thing is that social anxiety is curable. There are many therapeutic methods which have been studied, but cognitive-behavioral therapy is the only modality that has been made known to work effectively. Actually, the treatment of social phobia through cognitive-behavioral methods has the capacity to produce long-term, permanent relief to sufferers of social phobia. Isn't it a happy ending, after all?

Be Aware Of Anxiety Attack Symptoms

 by luciletaylor

Photo: treat-anxiety.com

Anxiety attack can be a very terrifying experience. It is a period of sudden and intense fear or discomfort, typically with an abrupt onset and usually lasting for no more than 10 minutes. Sometimes a person can experience a panic attack all of a sudden without particular reason. Most people that experience one attack will usually experience another attack, and those who have recurring attacks, or feel severe anxiety about having another are said to have panic disorder.

Various individuals report different symptoms during an anxiety attack. Some of the common anxiety attack symptoms are:

o Palpitations, a pounding of heart, or an accelerated heart rate
o Increased sweating
o Trembling or shaking
o Shortness of breath
o Chest pain or discomfort
o Nausea or stomach discomfort
o A feeling light-headedness, or faint
o A feeling of unreality
o Depersonalization or a feeling of being detached from oneself
o Fear of losing control or going crazy
o Fear of dying
o Numbness, or a tingling sensation
o Chills
o Feeling of impending doom

These are some of the possible anxiety attack symptoms. A normal person may experience one or more of these symptoms from time to time. Having to experience some of these anxiety attack symptoms is considered normal if you have reasonable explanations for them. But if you are experiencing them with no apparent reasons, it can be a sign of a more serious condition.

A person with phobia will usually experience an anxiety attack as a direct result of exposure to the things that trigger the phobia. These anxiety attacks are short- lived and quickly relieved once the trigger is escaped.

Usually an anxiety attack begins with an unusual bodily sensation from the anxiety attack symptoms. A person having an anxiety attack will then react, with fear that the symptoms are indicators of a much more serious threat and in turn reacts with more fear which intensified into a state of intense anxiety and panic. Cases of the possible situations where anxiety attack can occur are: when driving, on an airplane, crowded areas, or during sleep at night. Sometimes anxiety attack occurs in a situation where the person cannot exit easily from a social gathering, or in a meeting, but others may experience an incident of anxiety for no reason while in comfortable place or even in sleep.

Anxiety attack symptoms are more or less the same feelings we might experience if we feel danger is about to happen. They are signs of how we usually react if we are triggered by fear, worry, and concern. But, chill out! Fortunately, anxiety attack is not an illness.
