How to quickly master anything

 by yves@yveslanot.com

Are you a long-drawn-out learner? Reading a hardback then it seems like you didn't even read, and one ear and out the other ear. Are you acquiring personal development paperback still you hardly learn anything from it? This was me years ago until I learned what I'm about to lecture you on how to master basically anything fast and clearly.
The fastest way to answer how to master anything rapidly is something called spaced repetition. Spaced repetition is listening or doing something over a interval of time until it is deep-rooted in your brain. A great period to use spaced repetition can be with personal development audio books. Ordinarily you would listen to each track once, do the exercises then move on. Possibly once or twice review your notes or listen to a track a couple more times. In order to get the most from the audio, I would listen to the track a few times before moving to the next track.
It's like hearing a new song from your choice station. Hearing the song for the first time, you hardly know any of the lyrics, ultimately you hear it again and again then you pretty much know most of the song. Congratulations, you just experienced spaced repetition! You don't have to necessarily like it but since you've heard it so several times it gets ingrained in your head more or less like a habit.
You can use spaced repetition with anything like audio, books, flash cards etc… But audio is by far the most efficient in my view. With audio you don't need alone time to do it. You can listen to an audio anytime plus even if you're doing something, even something like SLEEP. With a book you have to use isolated time with it, you can't study and vacuum at the same time but with audio you can. Using audio you can listen in your car, at the gym anywhere you please.
Then you speculate how many times do I have to listen to something for it to get ingrained? Twenty-one times in thirty days works. If you do this it will help turn to a routine. Or if it's broken down into numerous tracks I would listen to a certain track at least seven times before I move to the next track.
If you do this on anything you're trying to learn I promise you, you will get A LOT more out of it. You will learn a lot faster then going through something once or twice and expecting to take action with it right away. I do this for everything I do now and it's helped me master anything quickly.

Building self esteem gives us the strength to deal with our credit issues. But sometimes we just can't. If creditors telephone we don't answer our cell. Our avoidance behaviors begin. We need more time to get some cash together. Then we can make a deal.

Money Problems In Marriage And How To Solve Them

 by mikazir

Photo: planyourspending.com

Money problems in marriage are more common than you think. You might be surprised at how the smallest money issues can erupt into something so serious that they lead to divorce. However, that doesn't mean you have to suffer the same fate as well.

By learning about these money problems in marriage, you'll be able to find a balance between marriage and money. You'll be able to avoid making the same mistakes or getting into the same arguments as many other couples do.

1) When one spends too much and another spends too little.

This is one of the toughest money problems in marriage to face. People who get married to each other don't necessarily have the same values. The best way to deal with this kind of issue is to compromise. How?

Say you're the one who spends more money than your partner and you end up buying clothes worth hundreds of dollars. If said clothes are really a necessity, tell your partner that they could just be their birthday gift to you. It's also important to let your partner have their way once in a while.

2) When one is constantly in debt and another nags too much.

Nagging rarely ever brings about the kind of results you want. But then again, debts don't really do much for your marriage either.

If you're already married to a person with a lot of debt, it's time for a serious talk. Your partner's debts will affect not only your life, but your children as well.

Help your partner erase his debts by working together on a time line. Make them understand the gravity of the situation and what both of you have to give up for a while. It won't help to have one give up on their hobby, while you go showing your money off in their face. Dealing with debt is a team effort.

3) When one does not share and another wants support.

One of the most common money problems in marriage is the sort of system couples have with money. Some couples like to merge their finances in one bank account. Others like to keep separate accounts. Why don't you talk and see which one works best for you?

However, if you can't come to an agreement, why don't you do it half and half? Sure, you can still have a joint account; but each of you can set up a separate account on the side. Get the best of both worlds.

Money problems in marriage are common, but they need not be responsible for ruining your marriage. There are ways to get around these money issues. Just remember that you're no longer single. You have a partner with whom you should be able to trust and compromise with.

A Healthy Approach To Stress

 by xtianabad23

Photo: healthylivingguide.net

Everyone reacts to stress differently according to various situations. People have different level of pressure and anxiety that they can handle with different outcomes or without any negative consequences. There are outside factors that can cause stress like big sports game, office presentation, deadlines at work or a student failed his or her exam because of having a mental block while answering his exam.

Stress is a normal human reaction to challenges and tough situations. This is inevitable and always present in our activities of daily living. And as the level of pressure gets too hard, stress eventually surpasses the ability of an individual to cope with it in a positive way. So some people tend to depend on anti stress or anti-anxiety medications in order to get an immediate relief

However, there are alternative ways to cope up with stress such as by practicing stress techniques that can maintain the person's state of balance and regulation of both body and mind. Having a regular exercise, joining to sports or fitness routines are excellent ways to release stress and relieve tension and frustrations.

Another technique is to perform deep breathing exercise, which gives a feeling of relief. With proper breathing counts and rhythm, this may lead to more relaxation progress. There are also relaxation activities like Oriental arts, which have been practiced by millions of people for centuries such as Yoga or Tai chi which can eliminate stress thereby, lighten up the body and mind and also helps develop full concentration and positive body awareness.
And base on the medical research; these modes of exercise give beneficial effects. By moving slowly with deep breathing and constant contraction, there's a feeling of good concentration and relaxation to the different parts of the body thus releases stress.

Massage therapy also helps fight stress and applying suitable pressure to the different parts of the body can decrease stress in that certain part of the body.
People should consider first the different kind of stress techniques and give proper importance to it before taking anti-stress pills as the last option. However, people who need fast relief may take these medications with proper doctor's prescription.
There are healthy ways to beat stress. And at this point, it is important to find productive ways to deal with the stress and to address the person or situation that is causing the stress. So that being stress free makes a person healthy and always have a positive outlook in life.

Stress Is All in the Mind

 by Felicity Maris Modesto

Photo: pcosnomore.com

Despite being triggered by external factors, stress in actuality is produced by your own mind. It is a result of your desire to achieve something or comply with a specific standard or requirement. And because we can never expect to thrive without abiding by one set of standards or another, it is typical that your day to day activities would make up your daily dose of stress.

But the kind of stress that compels you to achieve or perform accordingly are expected and necessitated. On its own, it is enough to use up your energy reserves. It is the unwanted and useless stress you unconsciously encumber yourself with that you must learn to handle and do away with.

The Importance of Being and Staying Rational

What sets man apart from beasts is his rationality. However, despite the privilege to exercise his reasoning to handle his affairs effectively, too often a time, he burdens himself with irrational thoughts. All of which adds up to unwarranted stress. And as he fusses about the minutest and least insignificant of details, he blames anything and everything for his stressful woes. Everything except himself that is.

It is the unwanted irrational thoughts that you often obsess about that unnecessarily add to your mental burden. And it goes without mentioning, that you should learn to distinguish and discard them on the spot. Common examples of these are the following: being overly finical with your appearance, obsessing about the tiniest insignificant detail that is really unimportant to begin with, sacrificing too much just so that you can please everybody literally, and corrupting your mind with too many "what ifs" or "what could bes".

Unclutter your mind by ridding yourself of these kinds of irrational thoughts that do not hold water. When you find yourself under attack by them; stop them right then and there, breathe in, and focus on being still until such time that all those voices in your head are silenced. Only when your mind is still should you give yourself the chance to sift through each one, so as to segregate the important ones from those that aren't.

Choosing Your State of Mind

Speaking of controlling the situation, it is vital that you know which ones can be subjected to your control and which one's are beyond you. Rather than beat yourself up by trying to control external factors, why not look within yourself and see if you have yourself under your control first? Bearing in mind that the only thing you can really control is yourself, why waste precious time and effort manipulating anything else?

If others' attitudes or behaviors is stressing you out, there is nothing you can do to change them if they themselves refuse to budge. However, you can choose not to be affected by them if you want to. Living in a free world entitles each one of us to do as he pleases. The action-reaction theory does not necessarily apply to humans because we have individual wills each one can exercise freely. So rather than drive yourself crazy imposing your will on others(even if it is for their own good); sit back, relax and get a hold of yourself.

Choosing your state of mind regardless of circumstances and other people empowers you to stay in control. Even if you are surrounded by madness, you can easily stay sane. Given that you use your will by exercising your inherent right to acquire a specific mindset, shedding unnecessary stress caused by external factors would be a piece of cake.

How To Become A Focused Person

 by robertoms2003

Photo: lenders-resource.com

It is common for everyone to experience a lack of focus from time to time. Some people struggle with it more than others. For some people it can pose a real problem. There are things that you can do to train your mind to stay focused and get the things done that you need to.

Through-out your day and week and life, there are many places that you need to be focused in your life. It can be during a work meeting, a training session or an academic class. There are other areas that you need to be focused as well, such as finishing a project at work, working from home or trying to get into shape. All of these things require you to stay focused so that you can finish the job or stay with the information being addressed.

It is uncomfortable for anyone to come away from a business meeting and not know what just happened. Many people day dream during meetings where they are not directly involved. This is a problem because at anytime someone could ask you an opinion and as an adult it`s not appropriate to shrug your shoulders and slide down in your chair as you may have done in grade three.

Another reason you need to stay focused in a meeting is that there might have been some issues discussed that you need to be aware of. After the meeting another co-worker could ask you about it and not knowing is not very professional. There are some tips to staying focused during a business meeting even if it is utterly boring.

You will want to clear you mind of all other things. This is not the time to think about buying new winter tires, shoes or a personal gym. You really need to keep your mind focused on what you are doing at the time you are doing it. To help you stay focused you can jot down notes, that way you are writing what you are hearing and perhaps it will help you retain what you are hearing.

Try to get yourself involved in the conversation if you can. Even if it is not about you, even adding the odd point might help you get through it.

If you are being trained for something at work, it is crucial to stay focused on the material being taught. Many people lose focus and have a hard time retaining what they just heard. A trick is to ask questions about everything even if you kind of understand what is going on. Asking questions will keep you aware of what is happening and will lead to further explanations and perhaps a better understanding for you.

Staying focused might require some careful planning. If you are a person who struggles with focusing then creating a plan in your head before you start something might be a proactive solution!

For example if you want to finish a project at home, you can think of ways that you can achieve that. You might know that distractions at home might keep you from your task. So it might be proactive to take the kids somewhere else, give the dog a huge bone to chew on and put your phone on vibrate. You might make a mental note that you won`t answer the phone unless it`s an emergency and that music might or might not help with your task. Set up a time slot to get your project done and create realistic time frames so that you will succeed.

How To Overcome Disappointment In 5 Simple Steps

 by mikazir

Photo: blog.beliefnet.com

Everyone needs to know how to overcome disappointment. No one is perfect and we're all bound to make mistakes at some point in our lives. However, that doesn't mean the end of everything.

To learn how to overcome disappointment, read on!

Step # 1: Accept What Happened.

The first step to moving on is acceptance. Disappointment is an emotion that we're all familiar with. Whether this feeling stems from our own mistakes or from our expectations of others doesn't matter. What matters is that we come to terms with it.

Self-destructing is not an option though. If you need to vent out, do so in a productive way. Get it out of your system and don't look back.

Step # 2: Get a Makeover.

As strange as it sounds, getting a makeover is one of the most effective ways on how to overcome disappointment. Getting a makeover symbolizes new beginnings and serves as a shout out to the world that you're ready to move on.

Besides, looking good helps you feel good. If you don't believe me, then you probably never had a good makeover before. Sometimes, a little haircut or wardrobe change is enough to perk you up.

Step # 3: Do Something Fun.

You've wallowed in self-pity long enough. Give yourself a break and do something that makes you happy. Go to the beach, hang out with your friends or engage in a little bit of retail therapy. As long as you don't go overboard, it's all good.

Step # 4: Confide in Someone.

One proven way on how to overcome disappointment is to confide in someone. Think of it as a kind of therapy. Talking helps you accept your situation and move on. It provides you with insights that you might not have been able to realize had you chosen to tackle your problem alone.

Step # 5: Don't be Afraid to Try Again.

Everyone has had disappointments in his or her life. But that doesn't mean you can't try again. Give yourself time to heal and to deal with what happened in the past before getting back in the game. Think of it as some kind of personal test.

Learning how to overcome disappointment is a crucial part of self-development. Unless you learn to "get over it," you'll have a difficult time finding happiness and contentment in your life. Everyone deserves to be happy, so why can't you allow yourself to be the same?
