Ways to Feel More Confident

 By: Kamen Loze

Many people lack confidence when interacting with others... and for some, any form of social situation can be extremely difficult. Social interaction whether it be work-related or personal life can be stressful to the point where the person becomes highly anxious and unable to function the way he or she usually does. For that reason as much as anything else, we don't always know what to say when we meet new people. It's therefore understandable that you might lack confidence when meeting new people. Choosing to take control and take action is key to re-building confidence. It doesn't have to be big and scary like parachuting or white water rafting; small steps on a regular basis will have a major positive impact on your life.

First of all pause to take a deep breath or a number of deep breaths. This will help to calm

you down and think about the situation before you react so you won't react in a way that you will regret later. It also gives you a moment to think about how you would like to proceed next when you are in a stressful situation. It will also help your heart and blood pressure slow down. I then feel more confident, happier, relaxed and better able to cope with the situation at hand.

In most situations, you don't have to go alone when you have to meet new people. You will probably feel much better about meeting them if you have a friendly face beside you, because you already know that your friend knows and likes you for who you are, so it softens the potential blow of being rejected by these new people. With a friend by your side, it doesn't matter what these new people are like; you will still have at least some support.

Spend time with people who make you feel good and appreciate you - minimize the time you spend with those who pick on your faults and weaknesses. Building self-confidence also means taking care of you. Identify activities which make you feel good; i.e. time out for coffee, a long walk, a round of golf. Then make time to make it happen.

Take a small risk each day - do something which you wouldn't normally do. Visit a coffee shop or go to see a film on your own, try out a new recipe or speak to someone in a supermarket queue. These small, positive actions will build your confidence.

Lastly, you can start a personal journal. You can write anything you want in them. You can write down the different things that happen to you throughout the day. You can write about the things that you are grateful for and that you accomplished. You can write down inspirationally quotes or favorite sayings. You can write whatever you want. I personally like to write down things that I accomplished like a success journal. I also like to write down inspirational quotes that will make my life better, motivate me when I am in a rut, or things that make me feel happier and more self confident. Lastly, I like to write down the things that I am grateful for.

Achieve Your Goals Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible!

By: Sahara Adair

We can't ignore the fact that-like the leaves on the deciduous trees-2010 is almost over. It seems as if the year passed as fast as the season's first bag of Halloween candy will. Many started 2010 eager and optimistic, noting "this is the year." But setbacks and daily demands have a tendency to impede our progress. We may find ourselves holding a bag of empty promises, and wrappers. But there's still time to accomplish a few of the things we set out to this year.

Remember the goals or resolutions you wrote down way back when at the beginning of the year? Perhaps, like me, you didn't make any resolutions. But we all have goals, whether it's eating fewer French fries or moving halfway around the world. And those don't necessitate a certain day of the year to profess, or accomplish. I know, 3 ½ months doesn't seem like much time; but that just means we have to get serious. Quality over quantity, right. We have to decide what we are willing to attempt and, then, go for it.

I had a few goals I wanted to tackle in January but, more so, I wanted to find something that helped people accomplish their goals. Just claiming a goal isn't enough. I subjected myself, in the name of science, to a program called the 100 Day Challenge-offered twice per year, once in January and again ... in a few days, on September 22nd this year. With an Internet connection, the ability to part with a couple hundred bucks, and a strong commitment, the 100 Day Challenge provides daily lessons, motivational video clips, and support from program mentors and fellow challengers-for 100 days. It's a great value for those serious about seeing results.

What I got out of it:

* Solid guidelines on how to phrase a goal. Yes, it does matter.
* The importance of narrowing efforts to five goals at any one time.
* How to develop endless motivation for each goal.
* Tips on breaking goals into manageable pieces.
* Steps on devising an action plan.
* Lessons on everything from "the power of saying no" to "seizing the day."
* Motivation from peers.
* Cognitive exercises that kept me on track.
* Ways to maximize my efforts.

The results from my 100 Day Challenge:

I surpassed two of my (7) goals. And though I did not reach all of them, I progressed further with each goal than I would have on my own. Most importantly, I learned that I am my biggest obstacle. The challenge forced me to pay attention to my behavior and the actions I took or did not take.

There are a few limitations to the program. The lessons are insightful but very broad. I found program text on another non-partner sight-hard to say who wrote it first. And if you redeem your one-on-one consultation take it with a grain of salt shaker.

But the benefits outweigh the negatives. For instance, I had no idea how important phrasing the actual goal was, and after-action reviews or weekly assessments are priceless. As soon as I correct some confidence issues-uncovered during the experiment-I'll take the challenge again. Of course, improving confidence is a great goal in itself.

 By Christina Cordle

How many times have you woken up from bed on a Monday morning with a heavy heart and a lack of positive attitude? Countless, most answers would be coming right back without a doubt. So what can you do about it? Well, you are not powerless and you can turn it around with the right information and good positivity. Read on for the practices you can do to keep your sunny attitude.
Check yourself, does everyday routine seem like drudgery? Well, you do not have to drown in lethargy all the time. The best way to combat low energy and laziness is spending energy into some activity. Exercise in one of the means to help practice positivity. This connection between physical exercise and being optimistic has a plausible reason behind all of it. Happy hormones are released by the body when you are doing any type of exercise. So the lesser your activity, the higher chances are your stress levels all up. The stress hormone called cortisol can make your body system can become a health risk. People who go to the gym do not only look fit and glowing but they also look happier. And now you know why exercise or physical activity can greatly make your day and the lack of it makes your whole day so lame.
Watch also what you eat. Some food diet is not good for you especially if they lack the right nutrients or have more than enough acceptable content. Some of the most helpful foods are those that can help the brain to function much better. Some examples of these are avocado, nuts and berries, coffee, salmon and many other brain boosting ingredients. As you can see, good condition of the mind can lessen the effects of stress. Refrain from consuming too much of something as it can greatly affect the normal functioning of the great machine inside your skull.
Stress can also cause some people to gain weight, especially around the abdominal area. The cortisol hormone tends to help the deposit build up of fat around the gut and on the other parts of the body. Being under stressed does not mean getting haggard and losing some weight because of some difficulties, as explained, this can also make someone very fat.
Also, manage psycho-emotional conflicts so that you cannot stress out too much in your daily social interactions. For example, if the work places seem to be noisy for you to be able to work or the family is just too demanding for the household chores, manage. For the work place, politely ask your colleagues to turn down the antics a notch in a good humor. For the family, designate chores accordingly. There is no general rule in making your life in all aspects flow smoothly but preventing conflicts can lessen the stress.
Emotional capacity to keep a positive attitude requires more than the usual frame of mind. It takes practice and this practice means readying your body to its optimum good condition so you can handle any amount of stress without breaking down.
