Memory Exercises For Staying Sharp

 By

Photo: s.wsj.ne

It is really important to exercise your memory. One of the best ways of doing memory exercises is actually by having fun playing games that involve memory as well as memory challenging activities like crossword puzzles.
Memory strengths and weaknesses can differ from one person to the next. One person may have difficulty remembering faces and names. Another may never forget a face but cannot remember what they bought at the store today.
Association plays a big part in how we remember. Try this memory exercise. The next time you meet someone make a conscious effort to examine their face. Look for any unusual features and then create an association in your mind combining that facial feature and the person's name. This could be a rhyme or an image that will bring back this person's name and face when you think of it.
Math
Math problems are great memory exercises. If it has been a while since you sat down and wrote out some long division then sit down and try a few problems. Do some multiplication and addition as well.
Puzzles
Working puzzles is an excellent way of testing your powers of recall. They force the brain to utilize memory in various areas to produce solutions.
Games
This is one of the better forms of memory exercises because it is enjoyable. When you are having fun it does not seem like exercising. Playing chess or games that involve strategies is great exercise for the brain.
Your memory is not a muscle. You brain is another story. You can use memory exercises to work out your brain. Even though it is not a muscle it still reacts like one. So when you fail to use it then it grows weaker. It is a 'function' of the brain and needs to be exercised.
Become a 'mental athlete' and work out regularly. You will begin to see the benefits in a short time. Create your own association methods and have fun with memory exercises.
There are many ways to affect your memory like-
Online Brain Games
Memory Systems
Adequate Sleep
Memory Improvement Vitamins
and many more. Today we live in an age where so much is done for us through the use of new technology that we lose parts of ourselves. We use electronic organizers, computers, calculators, and all sorts of gadgets to help us remember and organize things.
You can make an effort to improve your memory by increasing the amount of mental energy you put out every day. Try some of these and make them 'mental habits' -
(1). Memorize Your Grocery List
(2). While Shopping Keep A Mental Total Of Your Items
(3). Memorize Phone Numbers In Sets Of 10 (friends & family)
(4). Play Board Games
(5). Pick Up A New Hobby (make it challenging mentally)
(6). Take 10 Minutes A Day To Memorize Names Of Places Around The Globe
(7). Shuffle A Deck Of Cards And Memorize As Many Dealt Off The Top As You Can
(8). Remember Facts Or Figures In Reverse Order
(9). Memorize The Lyrics Of New Songs
(10). Try Learning A New Language
There is no end to the things you can do to exercise your mind. You can make up your own and look for ideas online. The main thing is that you incorporate them into your daily routine.

How to Rekindle Your Lost Motivation

By

Photo: growingleaders.com

Finding or replenishing your lost motivation can be a difficult task for anybody and especially internet marketers during the holiday seasons! With holiday 'spirit' in the air comes many distractions that make it hard to stay motivated which can be the kiss of death for the business of many internet marketers!
Here are 5 ways setting brand new goals, at least for the short term, will greatly benefit online entrepreneurs trying to simply get back on track!
Narrows Your Focus
Determine just one goal you'd like to achieve and simply focus on that! This helps to relieve the 'congestion' in your mind of having too many things to do which is something that commonly affects internet marketers! Now your mind will be free to concentrate on this one objective!
Share Your Goal
Nothing works better to help you stay motivated than to share your new goals with your friends, family or others in your close knit community! Making these people aware of what you intend to accomplish serves to keep you more focused and their support will also be a great source of motivation!
Be Realistic
If the new goals you've set are realistic, and they always should be, you'll see more progress which will also help you to stay motivated and on course! Nothing works better for increasing your motivation than seeing your efforts bring results!
Be Conservative
Keep your objective relatively simple to increase your chances of success! This merely reflects that your new goals are not only realistic but manageable during times when your attention is being constantly diverted! This also keeps you from getting frustrated and quitting, which is a nasty habit that's easy to develop and after a while equally hard to break!
Keep At It
As you 'chip away' and continue to make progress you'll find your motivation will grow as will your productivity! Before you know it you will have reached the objective you set for yourself and will be setting even more new goals! What you're trying to do is 'shrink' your to-do list so it won't seem to be so overwhelming when faced with all the 'outside' distractions! In short you're retraining both your focus and discipline!
Having lost motivation is the WORST thing most internet marketers can experience since if they 'quit' their business and previous efforts all die! The holidays seasons are a very challenging time due to all the ADDED distractions for anybody and most especially for internet marketers! Being traffic tends to be scarce and sales sometimes even scarcer it's hard to stay motivated! On the other hand by refreshing or setting new goals during these times, internet marketers can benefit in the 5 ways discussed above! The key is NOT to be so distracted to even recognize the need to adjust your business objectives during these times in the first place, but they will happen, so plan on it!

How To Stop Losing The Same Battles

By

Photo: i.dailymail.co.uk

My first major exam in college had tremendous value to me because it led to my taking a very important step. That first exam revealed that I must make changes if I was to be successful. It has been said, "In this world, you will have tribulation." In fact, this life involves constant warfare for every individual on every level of life and in every institution. If anyone of us stops fighting back and defending himself, he will be destroyed.
On the physical level, our bodies are constantly fighting off the invasion of all kinds of bacteria and virus. Our illnesses occur when our inner forces are too weak to resist the spread of some type of germ. On the physical level and on every level of our life, our health does not normally depend on a sterile environment but on the strength of our inner forces to fight against the attacking germs, foolish attitudes or wrong ideas.
Emotionally, we can become depressed or trapped in a pattern of negative thinking because of the availability of bad news all around us. Each of us is being invited to a pity party which will inevitably lead to more and more negativity. We are naturally inclined to focus on self and the hurts and disappointments to self. Embracing the natural response of bitterness or revenge will only turn into an in-depth attack on our emotional health.
At a yet deeper level, we are often tempted to believe that there is no long term hope for the future and no reason for our existence beyond our own comfort and pleasure. Whatever faith we have is continually being challenged.
Inner life force is needed on each of these levels to defend against and combat the forces which, if unresisted, would destroy us. On a physical level, we may try to avoid the attacking forces but, in reality, our only solution to illness will be to build up our inner strength in our immune system. At the deepest level of our spirit, we must have a faith and hope based on a foundation that can not be shaken or destroyed. Our emotional health depends on the stability of our spirit and also on mental food which will give us truth and light.
Our relationships can give us encouragement and support on each of these levels. But, if we have wrong or wounded relationships, they can also significantly weaken us. Marriage and family relationships need frequent tune-ups in communication, forgiveness and understanding.
Denial of this war will only lead to our eventual surprise and shock as some part of our life collapses. If we have a "head in the sand", "I'm a victim" approach to life, we will continue to take in things that weaken us in body, soul or spirit. Unless we change our thinking, some inner line of defense will eventually and suddenly collapse. In reality, all of us will experience lost battles but we don't have to keep losing the same battles.
Thankfully, there are many ways to build up our inner strength and win the battle the next time it comes around. I failed that first college exam and that turned out to be a huge benefit because it caused me to take the first step toward winning the next battle. The first step is always the same. But, it also very difficult. We must first admit to ourselves that we don't know it all and that we need to change. This first step is tough but the good news is that we have control over it. The same battles we used to lose will start to become victories once we take this first step, change our mind and begin to strengthen our personal and family inner foundations and defenses.

Tips for Creating Your Own Opportunities in Life

By

Photo: img.scoop.it

No one will let closed doors blocked him or her from achieving what he has planned to achieve. Majority of us has come across closed doors, which is one of the biggest stumbling block limiting success. How long have you tried to open your door? When was the last time you practice in opening closed doors These questions has been the major concern of most people. To open closed doors, laziness must be neglected.
The doors in life are the opportunities that come to us and every one must be able to grab them without making them to move backward and forward in the air. Much that is said about opportunity suggests that is something that comes by chance. Opportunities like this do not come every day or Opportunity only knocks once. "Anybody can achieve anything" Anonymous. Do you really believe that? Everyone can achieve anything but there is always a caveat that must be made. Those who succeed are those who walk through the door of opportunity when it swings open.
There are two kinds of doors in this world. There are closed doors and there are open doors. The closed doors will find you always but you have to find the doors that are opened for you. These two big doors are abruptly closed to everyone. No one knows when his or her door of opportunity is going to open wide. For some, the big break-through comes early in life and others later on. But for all of those who become successful, there is one key similarity. They were ready. Laziness towards doors will earn you abject poverty. Therefore, the principle is being ready when the closed doors open.
However, if you have a dream, or a goal, you have to create your own opportunities and the way to do this is by focusing, believing and thinking. We all get into negative state of thinking from time to time because of our experiences, past failures, past relationship, past mistakes. This can manifest in many different ways: anxiety, anger, resentment, bitterness and so on. When we operate within these states, we are closing the door to opportunity and we cannot create constructive ideas that will move us forward.
Conversely, when we operate from a positive state of mind, we are more open to what is around us. It is from these states of mind that we can create new ideas and find new opportunities. Your door will open someday. Doors open for everyone. It may only open once or it may open many times. Do everything you can to be ready. Do not just sit, wish, and dream. Be practical and make sure that you are the most qualified when the door opens. Make sure that you are the hardest worker. Make sure you are the nearby to the door.
Jesus declares in John 10:9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture" Take the savior, as your door and life will be easy for you. You will then enter and come back without any impediment and obstacles on the way.
If you are a child of God, today, stop living in the limitations of the past and the limitations of mere humanity. Your past has been forgiven and erased from existence. You are a new creation that is in right standing with God. His hand of favor is on your life. Nothing is impossible for you today if you will believe. Walk through the door of opportunity that was made available to you through Jesus, leave your past behind and do not ever look back.

How to Be Successful - On Achieving Success

By

Photo: audioholics.com

There is immense pressure on us to be successful. Be it that it comes from society, family, friends, or from our own selves. We all want to be successful, we want to reach this distant success. Yet, what is success exactly? Did you ever stop to think what success means to you, because, apparently, it means different things to different people. So make sure you know where it is you are going, just so you get to the right place.
So, if I were you, I'd take the opportunity right now to begin to list the things that would make me a successful person. This will give you a concrete idea of what success is like. The most common areas of ones life to include are finances (be sure to be very specific, saying I want to have a lot of money is not good, a lot of money is very subjective, determine exactly how much money you'd like to have in your bank account or as an income), you could also mention where you want to be living and the kind of house you'd like to own. Your relationship status and familiar goals. What about your health, how would you like your health and lifestyle to be like?
Remember, it is really good for you to know what success is for you so you can begin to make it a reality for you right away, if you are going the wrong way, you may change direction, or you may just need to make some minor adjustment, or if you've already figured it out then you're already on your way. Being on the way to success is successful in itself.
Now, if you are just starting your way towards success, remember, it is not just about what you have written and it will magically happen, you do need to put in the work and effort to help make your dream a reality. For financial gain, you need to figure out what you intend to give in order to acquire that sum. If you are single, and looking for a relationship, you need to figure out exactly what type of significant other you would like to have. Then go out there and attract that special someone. For health, well, depending on your lifestyle, you adjust your diet accordingly. The diet of a body builder will no doubt be different than the diet of an athlete or a person who's optimizing their 9-5 work.
So, this new lifestyle you dream to have will require a paradigm shift of some sort, and the changes should begin to take place from right now. With a set of goals that you have, and a plan of action of how you are going to get there, then you are bound to get there. Instead of how most people live, aimlessly and purposelessly.
Of course, there are more techniques and tools you can use to make your journey simpler, techniques that pertain to the mind. If you lack focus, have trouble with procrastination, lack motivation or get bored easily, there are solutions for such issues.

How to Develop a Creative Mind

By

Photo: designknock.com

The power to develop a creative mind is sometimes underestimated. This statement may seem controversial but it is not. It is rather a fact. The mind is always active regardless of what we are doing. This fact also cannot be disputed in any meaningful way. Every person should be a witness to this constant activity of the mind. If you look at the past five minutes or so, you will notice that many thoughts have crossed your mind. If you look back three days, then it will be almost impossible to remember all the things that have crossed your mind. All the thoughts that may have come to you within the past three days must be too numerous to remember. This is a hint that every person has the power to develop a creative mind.
Ideas flash constantly upon every mind. Your mind, a storehouse of mental power and unlimited knowledge, is always churning and ready to unleash its creative potential if you help it to do so. Every person has a brain. Where there is a brain, there is a mind. And where there is a mind, it can be creative if the right conditions are produced for creativity. The process of creativity, as with many other human qualities, can be learned.
The development of a creative mind is not a function of the level of intelligence. This means that every person can be creative. The development of a creative mind begins appropriately with the process of self-discovery. Every individual has a brain as we have already seen. All of us also have talents in one or more areas. Some of the talents are apparent but most of them are hidden. Nature is responsible for this distribution of talents. If this were not the case, nature would have done a great deal of injustice to some people. So in the absence of a major handicap, every person can acquire a creative disposition from his apparent and hidden talents. The way to do so is to use the process of self-examination to uncover areas of interest and capabilities.
The ability to do certain things comes to us naturally. Such things are easy to recognize if you are truly capable of doing them. Even so, you will still need frequent practice to determine the feasibilities of the things you wish to do. By doing so, you will also discover whether you can do them with ease or not. Unlike those talents that come to us naturally, many others are usually hidden. The process of self-discovery comes in really handy to bring out those talents you never knew you had. This is critical to the development of a creative mind.
As an instance, if you have never written any article, it does not mean that you cannot write a book. You may have all the hidden talents to be a good book writer. But until you start writing and learning more about that subject, you will never know how good a writer you can be. The same thing applies to all activities. Take a closer look at yourself and never underestimate your capabilities. Use brain-storming and write down a long list of ideas and examine them carefully. At this initial stage, you should be concerned with quantity and not quality. The list should include all the things you are interested in doing and also those things you will like to do regardless of whether you like doing them or not. Then select one of the items and make up your mind to concentrate on it. You will be amazed at some of things you can do when you set your mind on something. The process of self-discovery is an ideal place to start in any quest to develop a creative mind.
If you wish to be creative with anything, make that thing an obsessive need. The idea of obsession is a time-honored way of developing creativity and doing great things. When you make something an obsessive need, you decide that there is a good reason why you must have it. It also means that you make it an obligation on yourself to acquire it.
One thing accordingly leads to another in many positive ways and finally into a passionate indulgence. Be passionate about an idea and you will open many doors of possibilities concerning that idea. The first action that normally follows a passion is a microscopic examination of the subject in question. You develop an unusual interest, which encourages you to learn as much as possible about it. In that process, your concentration and imagination helps to uncover many possible solutions. You may also discover other ways to originate a concept. Passionate indulgence ensures that your passion stays alive and your knowledge about the subject continues to increase. Your creative mind can becomes awakened.
The next logical step in the creative process is independent thinking. Freedom of thought is one of the best ways to find solutions to problems. The premise behind independent thinking is that a mind that is already predisposed to generating ideas will be even more active if it is tuned for more ideas. The mind, which is prompted about a problem searches constantly for solutions to our predicaments consciously and unconsciously at the same time. The conscious activities of the mind are normally obvious and need no explanation. The subconscious activities on the mind, on the other hand, are often not apparent and need a little elaboration.
Your subconscious mind is always active. This occurs in the deeper part of your brain, which stores many thoughts that are not yet available for access. As you think about how to solve a problem, you may come up with an idea to solve that problem consciously by working for it. But consider that some solutions sometimes seem to appear out of nowhere. This happens to all of us. Such solutions may have been in your subconscious mind all along but only surfaced because you did not quit thinking about that problem. Your subconscious mind is still working actively even in your sleep. This explains why we wake up sometimes and suddenly remembering and thinking and coming up with ideas to solve some of our pressing problems.
Take advantage of independent thinking and let your mind wander controllably in search for solutions to your problems. When it comes to ideas, a wandering mind feeds on itself. That is to say, an idea once originated from independent thinking, generates more ideas with further application of independent thinking. In no time, a perfect solution crystallizes and activates your creative mind.
As an extension of independent thinking, the idea of repetition is a proven method of developing a creative mind. The inspiration to do something again and again has many benefits. These benefits are based on the principle that the more you do something, the better you get at it. Practice indeed is what leads to perfection. When you perform an activity and do it over and over, its procedure becomes grounded into the mind. You learn more ways to do it better as time goes on. After awhile, the way to do that activity becomes second nature to you and needs little or no effort. This is how people become experts at certain professions. Repetition promotes active learning, creative behavior and builds up valuable experiences. Experience is usually the priceless knowledge gained from direct observation or participation in an event for a certain reasonable length of time.
All inventors use the process of repetition extensively. When you see an invention, outsiders do not regularly have any idea of how long it took the inventor to conceive and discover the item. As a rule, it takes many trials and more trials to come up with great inventions. Inventors try and try again while all along elevating their interest in the venture. Repetition is unquestionably one of the best exercises for the brain.
Physical exercise, as we know, has many benefits. These benefits translate into good health, which would have been impossible without the repetitious nature of the exercise. In the same way, we get better and better at doing something if we employ the mind again and again at performing that activity. The natural creativity in you also gets better and better the more presence of mind you have on this subject. We learn more and more each time until the point of perfection is reached. Perhaps, more than any other activity, the idea of repetition plays a more productive role in unlocking the mysteries to many of our pursuits. Make use of the concept of repetition. It has too many advantages and all of them are conducive to the development of a creative mind.
Every person has the ability to develop a creative mind. Nature gave every individual a brain and made that possible. Even so, a creative disposition will not come to you as a birth right. You have to take the necessary steps in order to activate your creative mind. In this endeavor, you must maintain a concentrated mindset, imaginative conduct and visionary behavior to harness the creative power of the mind.
Every person should make the development of a creative mind an active preoccupation. Creativity must become an inseparable part of your life. This means that procrastination should have no place in your activities. Indeed procrastination is one of the greatest destroyers of dreams and must be eliminated from all the things we do. Never postpone any activity you can do today. Unless it is absolutely necessary, do not wait for tomorrow. It may never come. Once postponed until tomorrow, you defeat yourself in many ways. Each day brings its activities and it does not help to add them to each other unnecessarily. The postponement of activities is counter-productive to the accomplishment of goals.
When it comes to creativity, today's science fiction often becomes tomorrow's reality. Most of the achievements we see today were inconceivable a few years back. But thanks to the imagination and persistence of some individuals, new inventions pop up from time to time. This process has been going on since the beginning of time and will continue till the end of time. The lesson? If you believe in the value of something, use passionate indulgence to engage your mind, body and soul into it until you realize your dream. Take all the necessary steps to develop the natural creativity in you. Be humble enough to listen and learn from others but never allow any negative suggestions to stop or discourage your drive to activate, discover and establish your creative mind.

As an established author, I am passionate about the subject of self-improvement. No one can afford to ignore this key part of life that touches every person. When it comes to personal development, self-reliance is the best approach. As the definition of self-improvement implies, all those who wish to improve their lives must take the initiative to do so.The saying that 'No one is an Island' has many valuable implications. But the one implication that draws our attention the most is that every person needs the help of others from time to time. All of us encounter genuine problems regardless of what we do. So we should always expect to run into problems. At the same time, every problem has a solution. We only have to understand this fact, acquire more understanding of the particular problem and be determined to look for its solutions. Also, stone walls are part of life. But wherever there is a stone wall, sooner or later a crack appears in it. The implication? There is always a way to short-circuit a potential problem or even to solve it with a serious determined effort.

What Is Self Confidence and Why Do Only Some Have It?

 By

Photo: vindicarlo.com

The socio-psychological concept of self-confidence relates to self-assuredness in one's personal judgment, ability and power. WHAT! I"m sorry, all I got from that was blah blah blah blah.
Confidence or Self-Confidence are intertwined concepts - put simply, it's just being really comfortable with who you are.
Building confidence is a necessary exercise for many of us. Self-confidence does not come naturally to people at all. It's either something our parents nurtured us to accept as a natural part of ourselves when we were growing up or it's something our Rock Star mentors who we absolutely adored demonstrated, or it's something we worked really hard to develop as an adult. Particularly when we were old enough and smart enough to realise it was just getting to a point of becoming that person we really wanted to be. If you like, the best of who we are more often and really comfortable with that person.
We're all dealt different hands in this life and the hand you were dealt fits into the 'so what' basket, because all that matters is what you do with the hand you have. Like Kenny Rogers said "You've gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away and know when to run!" People who are already confident certainly know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away and know when to run. There are some massive lessons to be learnt there so let's dissect this a little and have a bit of fun with the words from this song.
"Know When to Hold Em'"
Learning to stand your ground and speaking up for yourself when it matters to you is a really good start to building your own level of confidence, but you must learn how to do this in a way that gets your message across clearly to the other person without being abusive.
"Know When to Fold Em'"
With confidence comes the ability to know when to 'let it go'. Self assured or self confident people don't need to be right all the time and in fact they may give the grace of being right to another person even when they're not right! Why? Because self confident people don't need to be right, to feel right. That's the bottom line.
"Know When to Walk Away & Know When to Run"
Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation (i.e an abusive relationship) or simply just a relationship that we know we're not happy in. This is absolutely one of the greatest tests I have seen in terms of a persons true level of self-confidence. To be truly confident you must not only know when to walk away, but sometimes, absolutely know when to run! And there is certainly a whole other topic in that last sentence which we will leave for another time, because I'm sure you get the sentiment of the key message here.
Lastly, I just want you to remember that the confident person/s that you've seen, met or admired were not given additional credits at birth that you missed out on but they have developed it during their lifetime in one way or another. And if he or she can do it, so can you. No one particular person in this world is special, but we are all unique and absolutely all a bunch of SexyBastards that's for sure. If ever you're doubting your individual appeal or attractiveness... don't.

How to Manage Rejection

By

Photo: static.guim.co.uk

OUCH! You just got rejected again! How do you manage to get past this, when the pain is so severe? Read below to find out what you can do to manage the overwhelming feelings of rejection.
The first thing that you will almost always have to do to get through the feelings of rejection, is to experience acceptance. You can't get past ANYTHING if you can't accept that it has happened to you first. Hence, be sure not to let your mind place you in a position to avoid acceptance by doing things like denying the rejection or living in a fantasy world. Honesty is always the best policy, so be honest and tell yourself the truth! You just got totally rejected!
Next, be sure not to personalize the rejection. I mean, it is clear that you were the one who was rejected but believe me, "It happens to EVERYBODY!" While it usually never feels good to be rejected, this doesn't excuse the fact that if everyone will experience it at some point in their lives... Why not you? Why not now?
Also, many times when one experiences rejection, it's not even about the person being rejected. Maybe the rejection is about a lay-off, or a break up... Often times it is about the other party who has made a change and for whatever reason, no longer needs the involvement of the person being rejected. This doesn't mean that the rejected person is bad, it just means that the circumstances have changed and that includes the circumstances for the rejected person.
Whatever you are being rejected from, don't forget to learn from it. Learning from rejection is a sure way to decrease the frequency and intensity of the feelings of rejection. For instance, if your last relationship partner informed you that you talk too much, you may want to think of ways that you can improve the amount of time you spend talking. If a job laid you off because you showed a lack of commitment to it, you should learn how to be sure that your future employers feel as if you value your job with them.
And last but certainly not least, don't be afraid to try again. The quote "Quitters never Win and Winners never Quit" has never been so important than at a time like this. You can never get whatever it is that you want in life, if you give-up so you have to be willing to put your big kid pants on, dust yourself off, and "try again!"
Before we close, let's review these tips one last time:
· Accept Rejection
· Do Not Personalize Rejection
· Understand that Rejection is Not about You
· Learn from Rejection
Rejection is such a bummer. Trust me, I've experienced it a time or two myself. If you would like to know more about what you can do to manage your feelings of rejection, please contact me at http://www.connieomari.com. Let's connect soon!

A way to Get Better Results From Your Self Improvement Efforts

 by: Amie Erickson

Photo: empowernetwork.com

Reading a book is additionally self improvement and private development or to be more precise, reading the book alone is not very self improvement, however reading the book, and applying what you learn is. To illustrate my point lets talk concerning one thing very generic, if you browse a book on lets say programming a webpage, it will perhaps help you perceive how the programmer makes the net-pages, but the particular page you would like to make, can not exist before you start programming it.

And equally the development of yourself will not occur just from reading a lot of books, but by applying what you learn in those books it will!

A massive variety of folks browse a ton of self improvement books, or even I should say a lot of beginnings of self improvement books, however not that several actually finish the books, and even fewer start applying the concepts or exercises they are presented with in the books. Whereas they'll like the book and the suggestions in it, most folks have a brief attention span, and before they get around to applying the new information, their eyes gets caught by another nice book, or one thing entirely totally different, and that they quickly move on while not getting any extremely life altering edges from it.

The secret behind good self improvement and personal development is that when you discover something you think might benefit you, you look additional into the topic, either by buying and reading a book regarding it, or finding data on the topic elsewhere, and at last applying the data in your own life and thereby making the enhancements you desire.

Remember it's continually smart to learn new things from reading a sensible book on the topic, but the knowledge has got to be put to smart use if you really wish to learn from it.

Even Faster Self Improvement Is Doable

If you have got interest in speeding up your self improvement even any, maybe you must consider looking into self hypnosis or meditation. Meditation is good for the soul and helps making an inner calm, while self hypnosis could be a very useful tool for implementing changes in your behaviour.

So as to urge any advantages from either of these methods you will have to be consistent in using and or applying them in your life. Regular use of meditation or self hypnosis will strengthen what ever have gone before it so to speak. Really it's like with each new thing, in the start it's not so straightforward, and it takes some effort both to apply it, and to remain with the programme, however once a whereas, it more or less becomes automatic or second nature to you, and that's when you may start to really notice the benefits.

If you are interested in learning meditation I'd suggest you seek for a private teacher, as you'll be enjoying around with the powers of your own psyche and as you immerse deeper into the techniques you may be stirring up recent emotions that can be difficult to tackle on your own.

A trained meditation teacher can bear in mind that this stuff happen beforehand, and is equipped to handle the emotions and make a case for to you the way to deal with them.

On the other hand if you want to learn self hypnosis for self improvement you could simply make sensible progress from the home study course I suggest at my website. Truly self improvement by self hypnosis may be a very powerful tool, and if you have got access to 1, I suggest you put it to smart use, remember though, shopping for, and reading the material isn't enough, you want to apply the knowledge too.

Why You Get More Done As Deadlines Approach

By

Photo: blogcdn.com

For anybody looking to get more done one surefire way, in most cases, is when you are confronted with a deadline to meet! Although this is NOT a 'strategy' recommended by this writer it has proven to be highly effective at increasing work efficiency due to the sense of urgency such situations often present! Perhaps you've experienced the same result and if you have here are 3 logical explanations as to why!
Urgency Equals Energy
It's amazing how a sense of urgency can invigorate even the most lazy amongst us! This feeling or sense is much like a 'slap in the face' or a 'wake-up call' that always seems to get our attention! With a looming deadline to meet people tend to realize they need to take the appropriate actions needed and right NOW! The jolt of adrenalin or infusion of energy we feel is our own bodies responding to the need to do what it takes, as quickly as possible, to make the deadline on time!
Focus Increases
Much like being awaken to a late night family crisis, having a deadline to meet will certainly get your attention, it does mine! In these instances we become acutely aware that nothing else matters, short of a some type of catastrophe, and this really helps to channel your focus! When people are not being pushed or pressured to get something done they are quite often more 'casual' in their approach! However when time is running out, a sense of urgency sets in and their efforts become fully focused on what it is they need to do to complete the task at hand!
The 'Calculating' Mind
Each and every one of us has the ability to quickly determine the 'shortest' path to where we want to go! Without being pressured however most people will always take the leisurely scenic route to get to their final destination! Obviously this leads to and is the major 'culprit' of all our inefficiencies when it comes to accomplishing those objectives we view more as work and not as pleasure! On the other hand when pressure is applied for whatever reason it's amazing how this can boost our work efficiency! With no time left for 'dilly dallying' around most people are able to quickly identify the most efficient way to get the job done!
Everybody and anybody would be interested in how to get more done in their busy lives and many times having a deadline to meet is the answer! As we all know when this type of situation arises a sense of urgency tends to guide your every effort and results in improving your work efficiency! Although, as previously stated, this is NOT a recommended strategy to use, it does offer very desirable effects! The review above focuses on 3 logical explanations as to why a sense of urgency, or near panic, can make you more productive! Although it makes more sense to simply remain motivated and do what you must when you should, inevitably each and every one of us will find ourselves in this situation! Now if you enjoy the 'rush' of your heart pounding in your chest to simply improve your work efficiency, you understand why the 'panic' mode makes you more productive!

4 Brain Exercises To Enhance Your Decision Making Skills

By

Photo: sheckys.com

Brain exercises are activities aimed at enhancing the cognitive functions of the brain. In other words, they promote the ability of the brain to process information, relate situations and make up a rational and clear conclusion about plans or issues. Therefore, decision making depends entirely on the brain and nothing else. This is why it is important for a person to ensure his or her mind at its best fit and up to the task any time by doing brain exercises.
Here are some brain exercises that can enhance the brain performance as tool for making decisions.
Physical exercise and Neurogenesis
Neurogenesis is the process where new brain cells are generated depending on how active brain is. Therefore, as the brain becomes more active, more connections are made between neuron cells to each other, and each neuron can be activated through active experiences either directly or indirectly. Physical exercises are one of the indirect means of stimulating neurons; they do this by increasing the release of nerve growth ingredients known as nerve growth factor that enhances health and growth in neurons.
Memory
Memory plays a very important role in every decision making activity, and it uses cognitive skills including reasoning, mental calculations and others. This is because the mind is engaged in a variety of work. To put this into practice, for example, one is encouraged to memorize words of a poem or a song that one doesn't know; this boosts chemicals for memory improvement.
Another method is by using the hand that is not dominant to performing things or used to normally carry out activities. For example, a left-handed person using right hand to brush teeth, eat most of the time has the right hand as dominant. Using the dominant hand helps engage an opposite side of the brain, thus balancing the brain activation to achieve desired results in brain performance.
Attention
To pay attention is to be alert and move out the comfort zone. This is accomplished by changing one's certain routine, for example, by changing the house arrangement, which will make the brain to be excited and be alert to a new order.
Multi-tasking is a great employer of attention; activities such as running and listen to music can be combined. Also, while driving, one can come up with a math problem to solve. In such situations, the brain is forced to do more than one skill at a time.
Visual-Spatial
Visual-Spatial is an activity that makes one experience a deeper feeling toward his or her environment by way of interaction. As an example, one can take a look at your environment for some time, say 5 minutes, and try to memorize as many objects that can be seen, as possible. After some time, say one hour, the person is expected to write down all things he could remember seeing. This enables one to interact with the environment more efficiently and become part of it.
Another simple and effective exercise is where one walks into a room to find five objects in their different locations, and then the objects are removed and the person is forced to remember their original positions respectively. These brain exercises enhance brain performance by waking the "brain from sleep".

How Do You Know If You Are Stressed?

By

Photo: s3.amazonaws.com

Stress. It happens to everyone at some time or another. We get stressed about our work, our relationships, our finances, kids, health and homes. I've yet to meet anyone who leads a completely charmed life and never experiences any stress. However, in the last six months, I've seen the stress levels in clients, friends and business associates escalate to new heights. I don't need to point at the troubled global economy or job losses as a common denominator; this is not "news" to so many who have experienced the direct effects first hand. But the question is, what do we do about it? What do we say to a friend or a loved one who has lost their job? What do we say to ourselves in the darkness of the night when mounting insecurities creep in? How do we unwind, stay focused and keep going... and maybe even relax and have a little fun along the way? The bad news is that it does take a little effort. The good news is, it's easier than you think.
The first thing I'd encourage you to do is to take a little break. Give yourself some breathing room - some space to step back and gain a clearer and broader perspective. This may be an afternoon, or better yet a weekend off, and just "let the problem go." Whatever it is that has got you so worried, will more than likely wait a couple of days. Put it out of your mind, but resolve to come back to it at a set day and time.
Once you've had some time off, come back to the current issue at hand, calmly, and with the intention of gaining more clarity and focus. Book some time for yourself (an hour or more) to sit down and look at all of the facts with a cool head, and clear mind. If the issue is financial, how much? How much money/assets do you have? How much do you owe? How long could you continue with your current course of action without dire consequences? And what could you do today, right now, to improve the situation?
If relationships, health or family are the issue, apply the same process. What is really and truly going on? How do you feel about it? Is the current course of action going to serve you in the long term, or do you need to make a change? And what can you do today to improve the situation?
With a clearer view, and a bit of breathing room behind you, it's time to make a plan and take action! Focused action is always the remedy for worry and stress. It allows you to take back some control, instead of letting the situation control you.
So my challenge to you this week is to give yourself a break, make a plan and take action.
- Decide what it is that is most important to you right now, and what is the next step?
- Are there loose ends that need to be tied up, or papers and clutter to deal with?
- Is there something that you're avoiding doing because it's unpleasant or uncomfortable?
- Are you taking really good care of yourself right now - getting enough exercise, and sleep and eating healthy andnutritious foods? During times of stress, it's more important than ever to focus on maintaining a balanced life, and protecting our health.
- Do you need to let a few things go, have some fun, and give yourself a break?
- Or is it time for you to get some outside help to deal with something that is beyond your scope of knowledge?
Stress and overwhelm are the result of feeling like we have no control over a given situation. When we feel like we have no options, we can quickly fall into anger, resignation and depression. While we can't always control what life brings our way, we can choose how we are going to deal with it. Some choices are tougher than others, but we always have choice.
One of my favourite quotes is that "nothing very very good, or very very bad, lasts for very very long." So take heart, this too shall pass, but in the meantime, get clear, be good to yourself, and take action!

Courage and Career Transitions

By

Photo: mariashriver.com

During a career transition has anyone ever said this phrase to you: "One door closes and the next door opens"? Well, if you're about to lose your job, change industries, reluctantly move to another state, or interview for the first time in ten years, that goodwill statement probably doesn't make you feel better. Do you know why? The real issue is not about whether the door is opening or closing, but how you deal with hell in the hallway!
Don't get me wrong; sometimes the door that closes is a good one, such as when you receive a six month severance package, transfer your skills to a new department, or complete a certificate that will add a new "star" to your resume. Many times the closed door represents a pink slip, being passed over for a promotion, or coming to grips with a new leader that hires his/her "people." During these times, unawareness takes over (versus consciousness) and you find yourself heaving the next door open by jamming your foot in the doorway. You are determined (until hell freezes over) to put a square peg into a round hole (even if it kills you!). You might even be vaguely aware that if you are using force, it's probably not the right opportunity or choice for you.
Hell in the hallway flushes out your courageous intentions. Women, in particular, seem to hold themselves to a high benchmark thus creating undo pressure. If they don't make it, they don't think of themselves as capable or courageous. What's important is to recognize that there is a direct correlation between your success quotient and your courage quotient. People who dissect the professional steps in their lives can underscore if they are stepping up or staying fixed on one step. An ancient Chinese proverb says, "He who hesitates before each step spends his life on one leg."
Be Accountable for Your Choices
Stepping up to your next career advancement is similar to climbing a standard six-foot ladder. The first step on the ladder is low and wide. Each consecutive step becomes higher and narrower. Near the top of the ladder, the ascent can get a little shaky as the steps taper. This is where blame takes over or complacency settles in. A courageous person observant, reevaluates what is true and vital, then summons their courage... and steps up. By courage, I mean integrating, claiming and relying on the original definition: "heart and spirit." One of the behaviors of courage is to hold yourself 100% accountable for your choices. Every choice you make has great consequence and these choices reverberate throughout your life-to the very end!
Recall and list some of the times you found yourself in the hallway? Are you in the hallway now? If so, what's going on? Many times if force is being used it's not the right option and you're not coming from a place of Courage Centering. There are times when the door opens right away, such as being recruited out of college or having an advocate employed in the company where you hope to work. In my experience, most advancement in consciousness came while I was in the hallway. Many of my clients say they discovered their "calling" during those lonely screams or sleepless nights in the hallway.
Depressed and scared, they were truly not in the mood to reinvent themselves one more time (one of the 12 behaviors of courage). My calling came to me while I was pacing in the hallway: I was supposed to conduct research on the behaviors of courage and author books and present on the subject. Yikes! I was neither a writer nor a journalist.
Courage Makes Your "Calling" Come Alive
Most people don't have a clue about their calling or what makes their heart sing. Think about a time and an issue around which you found yourself animated. Animation is an energy that makes you feel alive in your core-in your heart. There's a good chance that encounter, perhaps nearly forgotten, was your calling. It will now require the virtue (from Latin, meaning "energy") of courage to make it come alive!
Do you choose to stay on the same rung of the ladder during a career transition because you're in the hallway? Will you choose the courage killer-complacency? Giving yourself permission to claim and apply your courage halts self-righteousness and prepares you to activate your authenticity. It's a perfect starting place if you want to multiply your talents and effectiveness, define with clarity what is vital in your life and what is not, and escalate your work.
Your career transition or advancement is not outside your control. Courage is a joyful essence that supports you to be "real" during times of uncertainty. It allows you to embrace new dilemmas, overcome reluctance and rise above ambivalence. This is the time to embrace your reservoir of courage and step up.
After all, courage isn't something you stumble upon as you round the corner of the cubicle at the office. It is a practical tool, consciously chosen by authentic people in defining moments. Get out of the hallway: alter your professional destiny with courage.

Overcome Your Fear and Achieve Your Goals Now

By

Photo: s24.mindvalley.us

Fear. Fear of failing. Fear of losing. Fear of being wrong. Fear of change. Fear is one obstacle that everyone encounters. You can see it coming toward you, or it can sneak up on you when you least expect it. It can slow you down, distract you, or stop you in your tracks. It can even cause you to run in the opposite direction. You can find yourself thinking "I would do thus and such - if only I wasn't afraid." Fear, if left to its own devices, can become all consuming.
Great, you're thinking. Now what? I admit it. I'm afraid. How do I stop? The truth is what you want to stop is being held back, impeded by your fear. It doesn't really matter if you feel fear, as long as you know how to manage it.
So what can you do, when you're afraid?
1. Step one is to admit it. Stop fighting it. Fighting it can make it stronger. Acknowledgement doesn't mean give in to it either. Just recognize you are afraid. Simply say, I am afraid.
2. Next, name your fears. Take a sheet of paper, and title it "Fears." Now, list your fears by name. Be specific. Give yourself time for this task. Write, "I am afraid that... " Take your time. Be gentle with yourself as you name your fears. Curl up with your dog, sip a cup of herbal tea, listen to music that soothes you. And name your fears. All ofthem. When you finish - standup, stretch, and take a few deep breaths.
3. Now, look at your list of fears. For each one, I want you to make a note, has this come to pass? Has this fear come true? Has it already happened in your life? A simple yes or no will suffice here. If the answer is yes, then that is no longer a fear, but a challenge for you to address. So take a separate sheet of paper, and title that "Challenges", and copy this fear there, so you can address it later.
4. Take a blank sheet of paper, and title it "Opposites." For each fear that remains, those that have not yet come to pass, I want you to write down the opposite of the fear. And when you write that opposite, write it in the present tense, e.g. I have, I am, I do.
For example:
Fear: "All my efforts will fail, I won't accomplish anything significant in my life."
Opposite: "All my efforts paid off in the end. I achieved great success and accomplished significant goals in my life and in the world."
Fear: "I will never get my book published."
Opposite: "I am a prolific writer and published author. I am a best-selling author."
5. Next, take another blank sheet of paper, and title it "Opportunities." Look in each Opposite for at least one Opportunity for you. You may find several Opportunities in a single Opposite. Great! Write them all down.
For example:
Opposite: "All my efforts paid off in the end. I achieved great success and accomplished significant goals in my life and in the world."
Opportunities: "I can check out some volunteer organizations and go give some time to something that resonates for me. I can review my business goals and make sure my values are reflected in those. I can find a life coach or mentor to help me make sure I stay on track."
Opposite: "I am a prolific writer and published author. I am a best-selling author."
Opportunities: "I can write another draft of my latest story. I can go find a critique group to get some constructive feedback on my latest novel. I can send out more letters to possible agents."
6. Look for one action you can take for each Opportunity. Write down the next tiny action you can take in the next 24 hours for each one.
7. Pick an action and commit to it today. Just one.
Now you have worked through your fears to get you to place of taking action. Taking action is the key to achieving your goals. It is also the key to managing or overcoming your fears. And the next time you feel afraid, use this process to manage it.

Exploring A Realistic Method In Becoming Rich

By

Photo: getrichslowly.org

Becoming rich is something that all of us should desire. There is no meaning for us to be on our beautiful earth just to be slaves of our daily work or to live in poverty. No, we should be able to enjoy the full range of what is offered by life. But, for that to happen we need money. And, we need a lot of money to get pleasure from life without having any restriction. So, how do you become rich?
Becoming rich is not the result of saving money. Have you ever noticed that many "save my money" people are poor, while those who tend to spend more freely have often more money? Becoming rich is not either the result of working hard. No matter your definition of wealth, be sure that you will by no mean be truly rich if you are relying exclusively on a monthly salary. If you look for example at the Forbes' list over the hundred richest persons you will notice that none of those referenced is there as consequence of having a fantastic salary. No, instead they are all in the profit system being business owners or investors. I can therefore say that a career can unquestionably result in a good salary but in very rare situations it permits you to turn into a millionaire.
Becoming rich is more about knowing want you want. Nevertheless, figuring out what you want is not as uncomplicated as "I want to be rich". There must be a reason why you want to become wealthy. It is the pursuit of that purpose that will make you rich. So, what does it call for exactly to pursue this why, the cause? My answer is that you need to go where many have gone before, on the road of personal growth.
Changing your mind and your attitude does change your life. Get started by knowing where you are and then look in the future, and decide where you would like to be. When doing that have no room for doubt or unbelief. Like a farmer sowing the seeds and expecting something in return, you can count on something positive to happen when working on shifting your mind and attitude. See your life as a garden that needs to be cultivated. The weeds must disappear leaving room to some beautiful flowers and fruits. But, there is something important you got to understand about this garden. If you eat the ego fruit you will destroy the garden.
Your way to riches and your success with your personal growth will demand some coaching, understanding, and dedication. You will need to spend nearly all of your spare time contemplating your dream, cultivating gratitude, and in reading self-development books. You will also need to create a circle of positive people surrounding you. Complement that with finding somebody who has currently the kind of success you want, and copy him. You can ask that person how he or she did to become rich. You will find that successful people are more than prepared to share their secret.
To become rich you will also need to make a proper use of your mind. No one knows exactly the full potential of the mind but the mind is a tool for you to use in any way you wish. We create our realities according to the way we choose to interpret and react to events in life. By choosing your thoughts you can take advantage of the power of positive thinking, which in itself consists in altering a person's beliefs. The result of this altered believes system is a greater self-esteem, which builds positive attitude.
As you go along it is necessary for you to be self disciplined and focused. Ensure that they are as few distractions as possible. You must give yourself tasks to achieve and make sure that you accomplish them. With the help of visualization feel the reality of your dream, seeing yourself already achieving what you want to achieve. By thought, the thing you want is bought to you; by action you receive it. This is an extremely effective approach for developing holiness in you.
Now with your newly acquired positive attitude, mental strength, and discipline you develop the habit of doing things that failures do not like to do. You are able to improve your relationship with your friends, family and co-workers. And, you can become successful as a business owner or an investor developing the right faculties and skills. The law of cause and effect works in your favour and riches can start to come.
The process of changing you mind and attitude can take some time but you must be patient. To get a better understanding of what you need to improve in you and to ensure your success do not forget the coaching and training. Act! Nobody get wealthy without acting. If you want to learn how to make money for becoming rich this free online workshop, available at http://www.streamobject.com, is the perfect action to start with.
