Peace, Even Through Difficult Times

 by RichardAllenP

Part of "going with the flow" is keeping your expectations appropriate to what is. Just be, and at the same time learn to love what is. Here's an example of something that taught me the meaning of "going with the flow." Because of poor decisions made by a lending institution, I unexpectedly had a major financial line of credit closed. It's easy to go into panic mode when a crisis like this hits, especially when it comes to monetary issues. Although I felt the disturbing event and acknowledged my initial panic, I set about doing what needed to be done to remedy the situation. First I called the financial institution and tried to fix things there, but to no avail. So I simply opened up an account at a more stable institution, and a month later everything was back to normal. I spent less than six hours fixing the situation over a several-week period. Of course, I could have easily spent countless hours worrying and fretting about it. But I chose not to; instead I chose to accept it and move on.

Throughout the world's ups and downs, the road to peace and happiness has been around through eons. For example, this message is evident in both the Christian Bible and the Bhagavad-Gita, the sacred writings of the Hindu philosophy. Essentially, the ancient texts tell the faithful to find the healthiest seed, plant it in the richest soil, and water it with the clearest, cleanest water. Then add the perfect amount of sunshine and shade. But if it is to grow, that's God's job. In simpler terms, God's will is being done, and all is well. We human beings have limited minds and don't always see how the Universe or God is working out his or her plan out.

But in these troubled times, life sometimes seems scarier than ever before. Troubles sometimes seem to abound all around. How am I to know my place in the universe?

Try to imagine that you're a little screw on the Saturn 5 Rocket on its way to the moon. All that you're able to perceive is from a screw's perspective. Everything seems to be going fine. Then suddenly, the rocket begins to shake violently. Let's extrapolate. The violent shaking of the rocket is like losing your job, home, or marriage. Perhaps it's a death in the family. In other words, something really huge has upset your life and has thrown you into a tail spin. But the belief would be that there is a plan (i.e. making a trip to the moon), even though as the tiny screw you may not know the end results. Some ultimate meaning and purpose is there, but because of your limited perspective, the small screw cannot understand why the violence is occurring right now. This is a faith issue. But that does not mean that the rocket won't make it to the moon. Perhaps there is an ultimate purpose for the troubling things in your life, like getting a better job or growing closer to your family. Human perspective is small, but the Universe or God sees the big picture.

If you truly want peace and happiness, accept that what is happening right now is God's will. Work towards your goals, alleviate pain and suffering in the world in as many ways as you can. But once you have done your part, leave the results to God -- or the Universe, or whatever you call the divine intelligence. All is well when you flow with what is. Of course, do your best at everything you do. Improve and grow, but according to all the great religious texts of the world, the final results are in God's hands.

If you trust in this belief, you may find that life is much easier you won't have to know the reason for everything that is happening in your life right now. Just know that there is a reason. Relax and flow with life.

"Thy will be done." At its core, "Thy will be done" means that what is happening right now is exactly what is supposed to be happening. It is God's…or the Universe's will. Isn't that the same thing as living in the now and accepting what is?

I'd like to share one of my favorite quotes: The Serenity Prayer. It says:

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
The courage to change the things I can;
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Basically, it advises us to change what we can and accept what we cannot. In other words, go with the flow. Make a copy of the Serenity Prayer and read it as often as possible to help you understand how to go with the flow, even in these troubled times.

A Healthy Approach To Stress

by xtianabad23

Everyone reacts to stress differently according to various situations. People have different level of pressure and anxiety that they can handle with different outcomes or without any negative consequences. There are outside factors that can cause stress like big sports game, office presentation, deadlines at work or a student failed his or her exam because of having a mental block while answering his exam.

Stress is a normal human reaction to challenges and tough situations. This is inevitable and always present in our activities of daily living. And as the level of pressure gets too hard, stress eventually surpasses the ability of an individual to cope with it in a positive way. So some people tend to depend on anti stress or anti-anxiety medications in order to get an immediate relief

However, there are alternative ways to cope up with stress such as by practicing stress techniques that can maintain the person's state of balance and regulation of both body and mind. Having a regular exercise, joining to sports or fitness routines are excellent ways to release stress and relieve tension and frustrations.

Another technique is to perform deep breathing exercise, which gives a feeling of relief. With proper breathing counts and rhythm, this may lead to more relaxation progress. There are also relaxation activities like Oriental arts, which have been practiced by millions of people for centuries such as Yoga or Tai chi which can eliminate stress thereby, lighten up the body and mind and also helps develop full concentration and positive body awareness.
And base on the medical research; these modes of exercise give beneficial effects. By moving slowly with deep breathing and constant contraction, there's a feeling of good concentration and relaxation to the different parts of the body thus releases stress.

Massage therapy also helps fight stress and applying suitable pressure to the different parts of the body can decrease stress in that certain part of the body.
People should consider first the different kind of stress techniques and give proper importance to it before taking anti-stress pills as the last option. However, people who need fast relief may take these medications with proper doctor's prescription.
There are healthy ways to beat stress. And at this point, it is important to find productive ways to deal with the stress and to address the person or situation that is causing the stress. So that being stress free makes a person healthy and always have a positive outlook in life.

Stress kills your beauty

by fashionhanker

Stress is increasing day by day thus disturbing our every sphere of life including our looks.

Stress can take a toll on a person physically and psychologically, it also can lead to dermatologic problems, such as acne, brittle nails or even hair loss. It's true that nothing can alter the genetic traits of our skin such as skin type, texture, color and pore size but our care and pamper can improve them. But healthy flawless and younger looking skin is a dream of every woman. Nearly every woman would like to spend a lot of dollars to achieve this aim as long as she has the equivalent economic ability.

Our skin is reflection of our inner physical and mental health. Under extreme amounts of ongoing daily stress, the hormone cortisol rises, causing an increase in oil production. Once the skin harbors excess amounts of oil, your pores can become clogged with sebum, giving way to acne.

All the beauty products are useless when you are under heavy emotional pressure. Emotional stresses disturb the body homeostasis that results in hormonal malfunctioning, impairment of body immunological functions and slows down the skin rejuvenation. Skin constantly renews itself. At young age the cell renewal process completes within 28 days but as we grow older the speed of this process slows down. When you are mental disturbance under heavy pressure, the process of cell renewal slows down, and your skin becomes more and more dry and never elastic as before. If you want to have beautiful skin, then you have to take care of your mental health, so keep far away from heavy stress.

Heightened levels of cortisol can have adverse effects on other parts of the body, too. This stress hormone affects fat metabolism, as well as fluid and salt retention, making you lose fat from areas where it's desired and store it in unwanted areas like your arms and back.

Stress also can directly lead to hair losing. Telogen effluvium is a very common hair loss problem that can occur up to three months after a stressful event. Stress affects people differently - some may lose their hair, or have a heart attack, even develop an ulcer.

When your body is stressed, it often releases histamines, which in turn can create itching, inflammation, rashes, and hives in those of us who are prone to those kinds of things. Even if stress doesn't show outward symptoms, it doesn't mean it's not lurking elsewhere in your body. Often, those who don't display stress in the form of acne, redness, excess oil production or weight gain actually produce more free radicals internally, which can lead to premature aging.

Pressure incessantly agonize your emotion, and wash out your beauty and passion for life. Stress is the first killer of women beauty. Far away from these beauty killer from now!

If you are Stressed - Learn to Relax

by authorsimms

In modern society it is becoming far more impossible to avoid stressful situations. Too much stress can be unhealthy which is why learning to relax is so important. We all cope with stress when we go to sleep at night. While we are sleeping, our bodies become very relaxed and our heart rate, blood pressure, pulse and body temperature decrease. This allows our bodies and minds a chance to recharge allowing us to face the next day with renewed energy.

In theory, relaxation does the opposite of what stress does. It gives the body a break and helps cancel out many problems that stress may cause. Relaxation can also reduce muscle tension. Learning to relax is like learning a new skill. It takes practise to become good at it. Here are a few ideas to help you achieve it.

Most of us take breathing for granted, in stressful situations our breathing can go off sync and we don't even notice. This can lead to muscle tension, headaches and anxiety. Performing deep breathing exercises on a daily basis can help relieve stressful feelings.

Relax your Muscles.
Our muscles tense when we are stressed. Learn to recognise muscle tension and then learn to relieve it.

Use Imagery.
We were all great at this when we were children, imagining things all the time. Learn to use your imagination again to relieve stress. For example, imagine you're sitting on the beach and can hear the waves crashing while feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin.

Exercise can have a calming effect that makes you feel, think and perform better. Yoga is an excellent relaxer. But even just going for a brisk walk can make you feel so much better.

Ways to reduce your stress.

Firstly, take stock of your life and what may cause you stress. Look to find a way you can eliminate or reduce some of the stress in your life. By reducing the problems you can reduce the symptoms of stress.

Take a look at your diet, certain things we eat can all contribute to stress. Caffeine, alcohol and sugar can cause stress, whereas fruit and vegetables can help reduce it.

Quit smoking. Nicotine increases nervous irritability. While quitting maybe a stressful process, in the long run you'll feel better once you've quit.

Make time for recreation and enjoy yourself. Take up some new hobbies and make sure you allow enough time for these each week.

Keep a positive attitude. Try and focus on the positive side of each situation. Looking on the bright side lightens your load. You might not like certain things in your life, but instead of letting them frustrate you, try to accept them and find a way of working around them.

Have a massage once in a while. A massage will allow your body and mind to be intouch again. In stressful situatiuations our mind and body loose touch with one another. This contact needs to be re-established again. If you cant leave the house for whatever reason or don't have a partner to give you a massage at home try relaxing by yourself in the bedroom. Climaxing is extremly relaxing. If you are alone or single, sex toys can help you along with this.

Learn to laugh. Laughing can lower your stress levels and exercises your heart and cardiovascular system. By brightening your mood you can improve your well-being.

Finally, don't be afraid to ask for help. Read a book or even see a counsellor to find out ways of making your life more manageable.

Stress can be a result of allowing daily irritations and frustrations to take control of your life. It doesn't have to be like that. You can anticipate difficulties, plan your time carefully, and be aware of how you react to problems. By attending to a particular problem you can create ways that put you in the driver's seat where you belong.

Eliminate stress and take time for yourself

Eliminate stress and take time for yourself

Work, conferences, deadlines, appointments, phone calls, groceries, walking the dog - all of these are things many people must accomplish each day. Many times, family, friends and ourselves get put on a waiting list. Sometimes, we discover too late that those on the waiting list are, in fact, the most important, and unfortunately, we often don't realize it at all and find ourselves wondering why we are unhappy.

There are books and seminars to help us find the best option for managing our time. Such sources intend to offer the best solutions.People know that time is more than money. First of all, time means life, and more than that, it means our lives. That is why we must not to give up in stressful situations and must continue to fight for the joy of living. Remember that poor time management can cause major health problems physically and mentally.

But there is good news. Time can be tamed - in a way, we can make it obey us. The first step in the process is to identify the elements that steal your time. Usually , they are in one of two groups:
" External factors (unexpected phone calls, long phone conversations, unplanned visits, open-doors policies, insufficiently trained personnel, constant meetings, interruptions by colleagues, friends and family).
" Internal factors - related to ourselves (priorities and objectives that change, lack of a daily work plan, lack of self-imposed deadlines, tendency to do too many things at once, disorder, procrastination, inability to say no, poor decision-making, fatigue).

When reading the above descriptions, you probably pictured similar situations that you have been through. Now, all you must do is find a way to get past them so you can be in charge of your time again. Here are three possible ways to do it:
" Write everything down. It is especially useful if you have a bad memory. Otherwise you might forget to attend important meetings, to make important phone calls, to answer messages you need to answer. You can also write down inspirations that occur to you at unexpected moments.
" Make a list of priorities. It takes little time, and you can do it while you're having your morning coffee. Write down what you need to do that day, in order of importance and urgency.
" Learn to say no. A common mistake that many people make is to put other people's problems ahead of ours. Nevertheless, by helping others in a difficult situation, we open the door to frustration and stress and we find ourselves unable to meet our previous responsibility.

 By Brian Vann

What would you do if you feel like giving up?
Let me tell you a story about a family that live in the southeastern part of the country. John was a self- employed contractor with a wife and two kids, he did residential renovations for the people in his town and surrounding area making a decent income paying the household bills.
One day on the way home John had a bad accident which put him in the hospital for a while, he hurt his back and had a broken leg and will be out of work for a long period of time, his wife worked, but she had to take some time off to tend to John and the kids. He had a good major medical (health) insurance plans through his wife's job that would pay the doctor and hospital bill.
After three weeks John was well enough to leave the hospital, but wasn't well enough to go back to work, most contracting jobs if you are out of work you don't get paid, he wasn't able get workman's compensation because his accident occurred away from the job. John didn't have any kind of benefit plan that would pay him if he got hurt or sick away from the job.
It was about a month and a half after the accident before he could get out of bed still recovering from the back injury and a broken leg, its was going to take a while before he can go back to work, bills started coming in and with only one income his from wife's job it was very difficult to pay all the bills on time, they had to use up all of their savings and any spare money that they had to help with the household bills.
After a while they receive the bills from the doctor and the hospital, their major medical insurance company threaten not to pay until they paid their deductibles and co-payments which was well over a thousand dollars, John still had to have doctor visits and prescriptions filled until he got well enough to go back to work.
John had to borrow money from anywhere he could to make ends meet, couldn't pay his lenders from his contracting business, he didn't know when and if he could go back to work doing renovations, after a couple of months of rehab from his injuries John didn't know which way to turn, months pass and John couldn't go back to work, he had to file for bankruptcy, he and his family loss everything they had all because of not being completely covered with a good insurance plan.

How to Be More Self Assured

 By Kikachukwu Chukwukuji

Self doubt is one of man's greatest enemies in life and has being able to manifest itself in different ways and forms. That it has aided in obstructing, stopping or even killing the dreams of many is not disputable. So what I intend discussing here is how it can be coped, managed and eventually curbed in the minds of many.
The human mind is like a fertile soil and easily can implant so many thoughts until nurtured by constant reminder of such thought through different means such as re-visiting such a thought over and over again. So also is the mind ingrained with doubt, fear and mistrust naturally that it takes a re-orientation of the mind and building it so many positivity for the ailment "doubt" to be curbed.
Thus, the question of what doubt is in terms of its denotative meaning. According to the Oxford Advance Learner's dictionary doubt is "a feeling of being uncertain about something or not believing something." From this definition we can say that to in doubt is the same as not believing. Therefore, self-doubt means not believing in oneself. And this is the same thing as having low self-esteem of oneself and this is one trait one should do away with for it leads to the death of creativity and the can-do spirit of man. It's in doubt that we fail to see that tomorrow can be better and brighter. In doubt, the teenager struggling degenerates into illegalities for he fears his will power to succeed. Self-doubt brings out the dark side of that child sitting for an examination leading the child into the use of malpractice to pass.
This negative mindset has made many people resist the state of being in love for they doubt the ability to remain happy in that condition. Therefore, it's no small thing to say that self-doubt has affected the lives of many and their relationship with others, their friends, family and God to be strained.
Can it be managed or even curbed in one's mind. YES! A sure way of doing it is reducing as much as possible doubt thoughts that questions one's abilities for it all starts from the mind and replacing them with positive thoughts. In short,be an optimist and not a pessimist. Next, whenever you're in doubt of yourself write on a sheet of paper why you think you can't do what you intend to do then write reasons why you think you can do it and whatever the outcome you'll see there is no harm going through with the action after all. For if your fears are more than your confidence then why fear again when the worst will be failure - which you had anticipated.
Also, constantly remind yourself of all your successful deeds of old so as to boost your confidence level no matter how irrelevant the venture may have been. Remember, it's only in your mind. If you believe you're no good then you'll be no good. So believe in THYSELF!

Are You A Shopaholic?

by leahita

From the people who brought you Mathematics Disorder and Disorder of Written Expression and even Caffeine Disorder, now bring you Compulsive Shopping Disorder. In other words, a shopaholic. According to the experts, if you have a strong urge to go shopping, for anything from clothes to cars, at any time of the year, that means you might have a mental illness.

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 4th Edition (DSM IV) put out by the American Psychiatric Association, there are 374 so called mental disorders. Psychiatrists literally vote on what constitutes a mental illness or disorder by raising their hands at a conference. There is no medical evidence presented, no brain scans, blood tests or any other medical criteria needed to establish a disorder in the DSM; it is 100% subjective.

So now there is Compulsive Shopping Disorder. A study was done on 23 women and one man. All of whom were allegedly suffering from this disorder. This is of course 24 people trying to represent the entire country. It stated that most of the compulsive shoppers had improved in their urge to shop with an anti-depressant, Citalopram. Of course, the urge to shop might also be reduced by taking a number of other drugs, like heroin, cocaine, or maybe even sleeping pills. But it doesn’t mean it will help the situation. Drugs very often only serve to cover up a situation without really handling anything.

Putting a label on a certain type of behavior has really never helped anybody. According to Dr. Fred Baughman, Neurologist and Child Neurologist, “Any physician saying any psychiatric condition is an actual disease, is guilty of fraud.”

“This applies to Compulsive Shopping Disorder and to all ‘diseases’ they may add to future editions of their DSM for the simple reason that diseases are objective physical abnormalities discovered in patients by observant, scientific physicians, not subjective symptom complexes, voted into existence, and, by prior agreement called ‘diseases or chemical imbalances’ of the brain. And telling someone that there is a chemical imbalance in the brain can actually make things worse, as a person will then believe that there is something wrong with him that can’t be helped.

Dr. Baughman also stated that, “Any abnormalities that have been found in the brain are due to the invariably brain-damaging drugs all of their patents get put on and kept on. None are due, as they fraudulently claim, to their ‘disease’ or ‘diseases’ for the simple reason that their was never an actual disease or objective abnormality to begin with.”

The book, Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, shows that there are two parts of the mind. One is the analytical mind, which we use to solve the problems and puzzles of everyday life. And then there is a darker, more sinister part of the mind, called the reactive mind. This is composed of all the times of upsets and moments of pain and unconsciousness, known as engrams (a moment of ‘unconsciousness’ containing physical pain or painful emotion and all perceptions, and is not available to the analytical mind as experience) that a person has experienced. These are recorded in the reactive mind and can come into action to affect the person at a later time. In the book the author states, “The reactive mind is the entire source of aberration. It can be proved and has been repeatedly proven that there is no other, for when the engram bank (the reactive mind) is discharged, all undesirable symptoms vanish and a man begins to operate on his optimum pattern.”

Instead of trying a new drug to cover up a situation or being told that there is a situation when there isn't, or simply putting a label on some kind of behavior, it's best to find the true source of the problem and handle it.

What To Get a Mate?

by jax44

Men in Western cultures (and many other cultures too) are socialised to hide their emotions, be self-reliant, and ‘act' rather than feel. These notions are embodied in the cultural stereotypes of the heroic male, so often represented in film and television. Fearless, resourceful, stoic and usually facing adversity alone, these characters tell us a lot about what our culture considers ideal male behaviour.

More powerful than film characters are the roles we see our parents playing. Many men have experienced fathers who were emotionally distant, who rarely if ever cried or expressed affection outwardly. The way we see our parents behave becomes the unconscious template on which our own behaviour as adults is built.

Women tend to talk more than men and like to express their feelings and emotions. Men on the other hand need time to think and can quickly become overwhelmed by talkative women. It is important for wives to give their husbands time to cool off and have some alone time before they bombard them with questions about their day. It is also important to recognize your differences. Since women are verbal creatures, they often expect men to understand exactly what they are saying or thinking. Men are not mind readers, so you need to effectively communicate what you are thinking or feeling, subtle hints will not work with men.

One way this comes into play is gift ideas. When men buy gifts for men, they are not sure how to show their feelings. 21st birthday gifts might be easier, as they can just buy a lot of beer, or arrange a party.

But buying good gifts for another male is sometimes not done, and sometimes men don't even tell other people when their birthday is. This might be unnecessary though, as it can be simple for men to buy gifts for other men if they just think about it and be creative.

What To Do During Unproductive Times

 by simonarich

Read here if you are usually productive but at the moment are experiencing unproductive times

Everyone experiences unproductive days, no matter how productive you consider yourself to be. This happens because of the natural cycles in our bodies and minds. If you would be productive 24/7, you would very soon break down, therefore unproductive days are necessary for us to get our balance back.

Unproductive days are very beneficial to your mind and body because they refresh and restore you. During such days you should avoid any kind of stress and seek maximum relaxation. This way you will use your unproductive days to your advantage rather than getting worried about why you experience such times.

The best way to use your unproductive days is to totally relax one or two days and then engage in something you really enjoy. Going on holidays, painting, sunbathing or improving yourself in any way are perfect activities when you don't feel like working.

The great news is, if you use your unproductive days as I described, you will be totally refreshed and full of energy when these unproductive days are over. This will enable you to be more productive than you ever were when you eventually start taking more action.

The unproductive days used beneficially will recharge you, give you excessive energy and they might even give you a new outlook on your current tasks/problems. Because of that you will be able to more creatively deal with your tasks and tackle problems in a more effective way.

Read here if productivity is not your strongest trait

If you tend to be unproductive most of the times, it means some mental block or external influence is blocking you from productivity. It's important to identify such blocks so that you would be able to eliminate them.

Here are some reasons for your lack of productivity:

Lack of focus - when you don't have any goal to work for, you will end up doing many things at the same time and failing at most of them. This will create misery, self-doubt and eventually lack of productivity. It's essential to have a goal to work and live for, otherwise you will have many ups and downs without any visible improvement in your circumstances.

Lack of clarity - it's not enough to have a goal. Your goal, in order to be effective, needs to be very clear. For example, wanting to be wealthy won't get you anywhere because such goal is too abstract. The more specific your goal is, the more it will motivate you to take action, and so your productivity will continue to increase.

Goals that aren't what you really want - many people tend to make this fatal mistake of choosing their goals with minds rather than hearts. Yes, a latest sports car might look quite tempting, but is it what you really want in your heart? If you fail to choose a goal that's a genuine one, it will be a struggle to achieve it. You know that your goal is genuine when you get emotional when thinking about it.

Unhealthy food - although very easy to miss, the type of food you eat affects your motivation and productivity. If you tend to eat unhealthy foods full of sugar and carbs, don't be surprised if you feel like taking a nap rather than working on a project. Unhealthy foods greatly affect your mood too. If you eat a lot of sugar-based foods, for example, you might notice that it causes a sudden rise in positive emotions with a long slump of energy and a rise in negative emotions.

Best foods for increased productivity are fruit and vegetables, preferably uncooked. Fish and nuts are great too.

Too much food - if you tend to eat large food portions it's very likely that you eat more than it's good for you. Too large portions of food cause your digestion system to use most of your body's energy to digest the food, therefore there's not much energy left for anything else. Naturally your productivity levels will go down at such times. So it's much better to eat food in small portions and only when you are moderately hungry.

Too little exercise - people who exercise regularly are happier and more productive than those who don't. So it's worth getting into a habit of exercising for at least 10 or 15 minutes 5 days a week or so. This will make you stronger physically and mentally and you will find it easier to accomplish tasks you now consider quite hard.

Self doubt - self doubt can hugely reduce your productivity levels. If you don't believe you can achieve your goals, for example, you will see no point in taking action. Therefore coaching the negative inner voice should be on the top of your to-do list. When you work on your voice by repeatedly telling opposite messages to what it tells you, you will be able to turn it from the failure coach to the success coach.

Chaos in your mind - people who don't meditate, easily accept all kinds of opinions and generally are not aware of the content in their minds suffer from mental chaos. This chaos prevents them from becoming productive simply because there's too much going on in their minds. To eliminate this chaos you should shut out as many external influences from your life as possible, start meditating and thinking for yourself as well as be present to get out of your mind and improve your focus. These activities will naturally eliminate many unnecessary thoughts you currently get and this will automatically increase your productivity.

Chaos/distractions in your environment - if you live in an environment full of distractions, no wonder you are not productive. It's very hard to focus on a single task when many other things/tasks beg for your attention. Every single thing in your environment takes some of your psychic energy as well as your attention, even if you don't realise that. So it's wise to eliminate as many unnecessary things as possible from your work environment.

Negative attitude - negative people are unproductive because they are pessimistic about the final outcome of whatever they do. Because of that they do everything half-way and as a result achieve average or no success. If this is the case with you, you need to start looking for a positive aspect of any situation you find yourself in. Firstly it will be very hard as you will tend to look for negative aspects of the situation, but with time you will get used to this positive outlook. Your productivity will increase because you will then positively think about the final outcome of whatever you do.

External influences - if you tend to seek for others' approval and the opinions of other people matter to you, that might make you less productive. This might happen because most people are discouraging in nature, and so if you take them seriously, you will not believe in yourself and your productivity will fall as a result. The best thing to do in such situation is to care only for your own opinion and respect the opinion of others, but only take it to heart if it's helpful and positive.

I hope that this article will help you to deal with unproductive times better than you were able in the past. If you are mostly unproductive, I hope that this article inspired you to change your current habits, actions and/or mindset for more fulfilling results.

There are varied indications for many people. The anxiety attacks can occur without proper warning.

At times the patient gets an attack that makes them think that they will either have a heart attack or going to die. Such patients are difficult to handle and needs proper and timely intervention.

The correct reason for this disease is not known. Environment as well as the physical factors can be responsible for developing anxiety symptoms. Sometimes, it is seen that certain trauma or significant event in the childhood can be the cause of developing anxiety later in life. As the kid is unable to handle the senses of fear it gets very depressed making it impossible to get over. These are supposed to be even heridetary. Set your Goals with Confidence

"Who has confidence in himself will gain the confidence of others". Looking at a successful person, we usually presume that, what had made the person to become so flourishing. The one and only answer to this question would be his self confidence. Without self confidence it is unattainable for a person to succeed in his life or career or whatever the affair it may be. Right from simple things to complicated things, if you need to achieve them, you need to have confidence. People with self confidence generally have excellent skills and are completely self-possessed.

Prior to enhance your self confidence you need to know what does an over confidence and under confidence mean. Maintaining a balanced self confidence is always good for your future. Over confidence is having excess belief in yourself and at the other end, having a least belief in yourself is called under confidence. A person who is over confident usually take too much of risks and finally witness a break down. Whereas on the other case, under confident people don't even tend to take risks, thereby not giving themselves a single try. With a right and balanced self confidence, you can set and achieve your goals in a genuine manner.

Failures come and go in everyone's life. It is fairly true that successful people are those, who had experienced the maximum number of failures. They manage to compete in every tough situation with the courage and confidence they have. Each time they face a failure, they do consider it as a challenge to overcome from that. The two major things that contribute to self confidence are self esteem and self efficacy. People with a balanced confidence are probably self esteemed persons. Having belief and respect on yourself would render others to have the same on you. Enhancing your positive thinking could obviously help you in boosting up your self confidence. Being calm and ambitious is the vital quality that one needs to have, in order to achieve his goal. Hard working is an equally important spirit, which assists you in knocking the success door. Once you achieve success, eventually you could feel a confidence building in you. Only this type of confidence leads you to withstand difficult challenges and persist in the face of setbacks.

Too many people overvalue what they are not, and undervalue what they are. This is the foremost blooper that everyone does. If you endeavor in building your confidence, then primarily know your talent and concentrate on things which you excel in. Find out your skills and start working on fabricating your talents. Self confidence builds in you right from your child hood. Parental support and acceptance play a vital role in enhancing a child's confidence. Parents who encourage and support their children, each time they experience a fall are likely to build their child's self confidence. Without self confidence nothing is possible. Hence keep in mind that, self confidence is the primary thing that shows you the way to success.

The Author focuses on working with people with low self esteem and subtly change their mental outlook to gain a positive meaning to their lives. The author has written many informative articles on how to build confidence and gain self esteem as well.

Are You Living Your Best Life?

 By: Gail Solish

One can never predict what will happen in life. You can embrace life and live each day to the fullest or you can keep waiting for the right set of circumstances, which of course rarely comes. You may experience disappointments, frustrations or set backs, but some how you need to keep moving forward. It is not what happens but what you make of it that will dictate how you manage. Consider what qualities and strategies you need to develop in order to live your best life.

Here are my 5 rules for living your best life.

1. Take care of your self first.

Self care is mandatory. So often people put themselves last on their to-do list. It is necessary to make sure that your needs, both physical and emotional, are being met consistently. If you are tired, run down or eating poorly, it impacts your functioning both at work and in your personal life. Have you ever noticed that when you don’t have enough sleep you can become short tempered and impatient? How do you take care of your emotional needs? It is important to build in time to do things that you enjoy and connect with friends and family.

2. Say "no."

It is only 2 letters, but "no" is one of the most powerful words in the English language. It is important to be able to use it. When you are able to say no it does not mean that you don’t care about others but rather that you are able to set appropriate boundaries and limits. This is another way of taking care of your self. People sometimes worry that if they say "no" that others won’t like them. It is necessary to pay attention to what you can and can’t do and not worry about the other person’s reaction. I challenge you to say "no" to some of the things that you no longer want to do. Notice what it feels like to create more space in your life.

3. Don’t Spend What You Don’t Have

Many of us have become used to living on credit or impulse buying. This is a dangerous way of navigating the world. It can create constant debt which contributes to greater anxiety and less productivity. With the present change in the economic situation, perhaps now is the time for you to re-think your spending habits and change what is no longer working. Pay attention to how you are spending your money. Write down exactly what you spend on a daily basis. You could be quite surprised.

A financial consultant suggested to a client that they pay attention to how much they were spending on specialty coffee drinks for a one month period. This person was shocked to discover that they spent between $8-$10 daily on coffee. By the end of the month they had spent $240-$300. By making coffee at home or at the office, they saved a great deal of money.

4. Give to others.

Be compassionate and charitable. This speaks to the relationships in your life and how important it is to create a balance between give and take. It is often assumed that being charitable refers to a donation of money. That is only one way of being charitable. Sometimes the giving of time, energy or compassion is far more powerful. Taking the time to listen to someone when they are going through a tough time or giving the benefit of doubt can be very giving. It is often the little acts of caring and sharing that create the positive relationships in our lives. Giving to others is often a way of giving to your self.

5. Develop resilience or consider adopting the "Bugs Bunny" Philosophy of Life

Whatever pops up, just deal with it. That is what Bugs Bunny does. Remember how he pops his head out of the ground and often encounters a challenge. He then figures out how to manage the difficulty and gets on with life. You can’t necessarily always predict what will happen or prepare for every contingency, so you need to develop strategies for managing the unexpected and challenging life situations. This requires you to develop and strengthen your resiliency.

Consider your 5 rules for living your best life. What is truly important to you and aligns with your values and vision. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Self Improvement And Motivation - Best Guidelines To Improve Ones Life

 By: Dr. Ron Daulton, Jr.

Everyone should be interested in self improvement and motivation, but most people are satisfied with the "status quo". Even people that say they are unhappy with their lives continue to repeat the same behavior patterns over and over again, throughout their lives.
All good self improvement ideas begin with one thing. That is change.

You might need to change the things that you do or the way that you think. You might need to change both. Perhaps it is the power of positive thinking that will bring about self improvement and motivation in your life. Perhaps, you can take advantage of the law of attraction.

How to take advantage of this to increase your career motivation? It is a human tendency to get bored after time, with something whether it's in a career, relationship or something else. When we start a new job or career, for the first couple of weeks we are like the peasant boy who walked into a new palace.

Every thing in the job or career is new and interesting and our interest is completely captured. We try to learn things as quickly as possible in the job and are eager to impress and prove to the world and ourselves that we are perfect for the job or career. But after a few months we get used to everything and slowly the job or career begins to lose it's charm.

Some of the most effective self improvement ideas have to do with the law of attraction. Our thoughts are like magnets that can attract good or bad things to our lives, depending on whether our thoughts are positive or negative.

People have experienced life changing events, simply by changing the way that they think. If you go through the day with a frown on your face, thinking that nothing good will happen today, then you will be right. By the same token, if you go through the day with a smile, expecting something good to happen, then you will be right. Give it a try.

The biggest obstacle that people must deal with when they are experimenting with self improvement ideas is impatience. They try thinking positively or visualizing for a few days, but when things don't change in a big way, in a short period of time, they give up.

Sometimes, you have to look for the little things that are good about your life and be grateful for those. At the beginning of every day, take a few moments to count your blessings. Being grateful for what you already have is a big part of self improvement and motivation.

As you begin to put some positive self improvement ideas into action, be aware of each kindness that someone bestows upon you. And, be sure to always react with kindness. Be ready for opportunity to knock, but remember to look carefully at the opportunity, to be sure that it fits with your long-term goals.

It can be easy to get side-tracked, unless you are careful to always think about your long-term goals. The "Secret", by Bob Proctor, is a good plan for self improvement and motivation. It includes many of the things mentioned here, as well as other secrets for being happier and more successful at everything you attempt to do.
Day by day, build your home
Don't forget to be positive
Don't forget to be happy

How Do You Deal With Conflict?

 By: Roseanna Leaton

It is interesting to note different people's reactions when dealing with situations involving conflict. Some people act tenaciously like a Jack Russell, yapping and barking loudly and refusing to back down; going on the offensive seems to be inbred in their nature. Other's respond more like a King Charles spaniel, curling up in a corner and gazing around with wide eyes, hoping against hope that peace will return before too long; they have the inbred nature of the pacifist and wait until the opportunity arises to lick your hand and hope for a gentle pat in return.

There are many variations of temperament along this scale. It is an undeniable fact that some are better equipped to deal with conflicts than others. But the dog who barks the loudest doesn't always win. Sometimes it will work of course; it will scare some more timid creatures off and send them running back to their corner. Sometimes their yapping and nipping at heels can get them into trouble. What they may think of as defensive action is more likely to be experienced by another as offensive.

The best reaction in such circumstances is most often to stand your ground and treat that other person as you would wish to be treated. By this I mean that to respond in a polite and respectful way, no matter how rude or impolite that other person is, will usually win at the end of the day. What goes round comes around, but YOU do not need to raise your voice or yap louder. This is one situation where the adage "if you cannot beat them then join them" simply does not work.

Unfortunately this is what often happens. It is all too easy to get drawn into the situation and react whilst your emotional and primitive mind is in control. When you are upset by something your emotional brain does take over. Your brain is responding to a perceived threat, and the fight or flight response immediately kicks in. Adrenalin pumps around your system poising you to lash out, fight back or run like hell. Sometimes your response gets frozen in-between the choices and you can become rooted to the spot and incapable of taking any action at all.

The human brain has been hard wired since cave man days to respond in this manner. Your brain focuses all of its attention upon this primary instinct of survival and the more logical, higher cortical regions of your brain are bypassed. You cannot think clearly at this point; it is impossible. This is why it is so easy to get drawn into responding to aggression with aggression; but to do this just results in escalating the situation.

Back in cave man days this was an essential element of survival. In the modern era, however, it is almost always inappropriate. A person has to learn how to calm their emotions and allow their logical thinking mind to take part in their internal discussion about how best to respond to circumstances. Just by breathing deeply you will experience a natural relaxation response throughout your body and this will also be mirrored by your mind.

Once your logical mind kicks back in, a good question to ask oneself is how you would feel if everything you thought was right was indeed wrong? I suppose this is another way of suggesting that you look at things from that other person's perspective and try to work out where they are coming from. Ask yourself why they were yapping and barking in an apparently offensive manner. And also you could ask yourself what you could do to calm the situation and ultimately achieve a positive outcome.

For some this means tempering their instinctive reaction of lashing out and hitting back. For others it is learning how to stand their ground and remain calm even whilst their heart is pumping loudly in their chest and they feel as if they can barely breathe. Often it involves not only the ability to change your own emotional reaction but also to help the other person to change state and shift back into a more logical pattern of thought and action as well.

We all do have the ability to change state and relax, so long as we take the time to learn how to do this. Hypnosis is a wonderful tool which is easy to learn and easy to use. Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation which sooths your mind and your body. With hypnosis you have access to your subconscious mind which is the more emotional part of your mind. Therefore as you learn to relax with hypnosis you can also access the part of your mind where those primitive emotional reactions are triggered. This means that you can, with hypnosis, train your brain to respond in a more appropriate manner to those situations of perceived conflict and stress.

Inner Peace Verses Peace of Mind - Is There a Difference?

 By Gregory Hebb

Although having inner peace has the same flavor as having piece of mind they are quite different. Having piece of mind is being free of thoughts that direct your emotions one way or another creating a push and pull that invokes creative instability in our perception of reality. Inner peace then is the place we rest when we embrace the idea that everything is always as it should be and the only thing that need be dealt with is that which is in this moment currently, to which you are the perfect emotional balance.
When a loved one is out driving on the roads in a snowstorm and you may feel worried for their safety. You will go through every possible scenario that would steal them away from you, always negative and always at a loss to you. The dead care not if they are alive, and even injury, physical or emotional, is formulated based on a personal best guess or past experience as we can only imagine within the boundaries of the totality of our awareness (conscious or sub-conscious).
Piece of mind is being free of directional thought, free of the feeling that you have no control of your thoughts or your life, that life isn't pushing you around. Having piece of mind has a context to it that suggests an increase in activity, whereas you are neutralizing the increase in thoughts as they arise (even if it is subconsciously).
Inner peace on the other hand is a decrease in activity, the absence of thoughts outside of the moment. There is nothing to resolve or neutralize as there is no conflict to bear witness to. If an emotional insurrection arises then it is met in the moment with an emotional reaction that always comes from a place of love and balance and flows in and out of you like a river over polished stones.
With inner peace there is no need to attain piece of mind for there is nothing that can be grasped, love and balance are always already the case prior to thought.
Having piece of mind often leads us to keep ourselves away from environments or activities that otherwise cause conflict in our minds but this limits our growth and actually creates another type of conflict that starts with "what if" followed by regret.
Inner peace means embracing everything in life as it arises and meeting it in the heart, this doesn't mean that you should go skydiving every time someone asks but if you feel instinctively in the moment that it will enrich your life then do not let fear stop you! It becomes effortless movement when you live in choiceless awareness, there is only the way and either resistance or openness arises as your vehicle in the going.
The Tsin Tsin Ming says "The great way is effortless for those who live in choiceless awareness, to choose without preference is to be clear"
We always know the way to go, why do we resist?
Gregory Hebb has dedicated his life to helping people pursue the only question worth asking, "who am I"
With an extensive background in Psychology as well as many forms of spiritual practice he has made groundbreaking advances in self improvement through his unique perception and practices that find their roots in Emotional Intelligence.

Study Skills

 By: Raul Mon

Study skills are approaches applied to learning. They are considered essential to success in school. They are also considered important for attaining good grades and are helpful for learning right through one's life. Good study habits are all about helping students learn how to be a more efficient learner. Successful students have excellent study habits, and they employ these habits to all of their classes.

The following are helpful study skills. They are used by many students throughout their education.

First, try not to do a great deal of studying at any given time. This is because it will make you tired, and as a result, your studying will not be very effective. The solution to this is spacing the studying you do over short periods of time. Taking short breaks will also restore your mental energy.

Second, successful students plan specific times for studying. They schedule specific times throughout the week for their study time. This establishes a routine which makes them mentally prepared for studying.

Third, set specific goals as this allows you to stay focused.

Fourth, start studying when intended. Do not procrastinate.

Fifth, work first on the subject areas that you find most difficult. This is because these subject areas will require the most effort.

Sixth, review your notes before beginning an assignment. That way you won't need to waste energy coming up with something you already did earlier.

Seventh, tell your friends not to disturb you during your study times for you to be able to concentrate on the work at hand.

Eighth, make sure to call each other when you have a difficulty with an assignment. Someone else's point of view can point you to the right direction.

Finally, review your schoolwork over the weekend so that you are ready to go on Monday morning when the school week begins.

Study skills are important in the day-to-day life of students. It is through study habits in which they learn how to organize and how to discipline themselves. It is a proven fact that without studying, students cannot succeed in school. They should employ good study habits because good study habits make good students.

Adapting to Stress

 By: Erica Eddleman

"Where do I start?"

That’s the same question I asked myself over 11 years ago.  As a sophomore in college, I anxiously questioned the direction of my life.  There are many transitional moments in the course of our lifetimes that spark similar questions. "What do I want now?" "Why am I in this situation?" "How can I change things?" From such introspective moments we can often obtain the right answers.  And sometimes those answers may lead to an inspired life, which is exactly what happened to me.

After much study and practice in holistic health and wellness, I came to believe that in order to build an ideal life we must build a solid foundation, and the foundation we must invest in is in our health. I’m referring to our whole health, or wholeness, as the origin of the word denotes. The online etymology dictionary defines health as, "wholeness, a being whole, sound or well."

( )

Whole health or wholeness is more encompassing than what’s practiced in allopathic medicine. Wholeness is even more engaging than what an acupuncturist or naturopath can treat. True whole health requires the highest level of personal responsibility. It incorporates all of the dimensions of our being: physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual. Whole health is the result of embodying whole consciousness, and that is a whole lot.

There are many systems that outline a path toward wholeness and you may already have a routine that works for you. Likely it may include exercise, meditation and a nutrition regimen, and, when followed diligently, it works.  However there are times when we are unable to apply our routine and there are times when maintaining healthful habits seem impractical.

Why? What happens then? Why are those times tougher than others? Does something get in our way?

That something is known as stress. It sounds like a mischievous goblin looking to sabotage everything that hard work builds. Think about it. When someone describes an obstacle, more often than not, stress is the culprit. Call it an invisible sidekick to adversity. Fortunately, stress isn’t a masked bandit running amuck, and we can better manage its impact on our lives.

For many of us, the word stress is somewhat ambiguous. Wikipedia states, "stress is how the body reacts to a stressor, real or imagined, a stimulus that causes stress."  According to another definition, stress relates to the pressure, pull, or other force exerted on one thing by another. The source of the tension is a stressor, and the quantity, quality and duration of the tension helps to categorize it as a specific type of stressor. To better understand stress, we need to take a closer look at the types of stressors:

  • Mental stressors—all mental illness, chronic unresolved issues, major life changes, overburdened with responsibility, self-image issues, and obsessive thinking
  • Emotional stressors—anger, rage, irritability, worry, anxiety, fear, fright, terror, depression, desire, lust, sadness, grief, and over-excitement
  • Physical stressors—too much strenuous activity such as overwork and too much exercise, physical trauma, starvation, medical issues, suffocation, alcohol and drug use, lack of sleep, illness, and child-birth
  • Environmental stressors—sudden changes in climate or exposure to severe climate conditions, electromagnetic waves (Wi-Fi networks), excessive exposure to sun, exposure to harmful microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, molds, and parasites), exposure to chemical toxins (pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, heavy metals, households and industrial chemicals); also, consumption of nutritionally deficient foods such as refined foods, irradiated foods, trans fats, caffeine and other stimulants
  • Spiritual stressors—loss of direction and life purpose
As we can see there are many kinds of stressors. Certainly, it is important to minimize our exposure to unnecessary stressors even though stressors are a part of life. Therefore our focus should be on how we process stress.  Our bodies metabolize stress in two different ways; either as helpful eustress, which is anabolic in nature (meaning it builds us up) or as destructive distress, which is catabolic (meaning it breaks us down). The old saying is true, "what doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger."

Hans Selye outlined our stress response in more detail, and earned the nickname "the father of stress research." In his General Adaptation Syndrome, Selye delineates a sequence of reactions the body goes through when responding to a given stressor. First, in the alarm stage, we experience an internal alert where the body prepares for action with adrenaline and cortisol. This is commonly known as a fight-or-flight response. Next if the stressor persists, the body goes into the resistance stage. Here the body reallocates its primary force to deal with the stressor. This is the "cope and adapt…or else" stage. If the tension persists, then the body will fall into the exhaustion phase. This is the danger zone. In the exhaustion phase we are vulnerable to illness and weakness. Selye’s research proves that the key factor to our body’s survival is its ability to adapt. Our ability to adapt depends on our adaptive energy. He coined that phrase because in situations when our adaptive energy is high, we move through stress unscathed. But when our adaptive energy is low, all things can go wrong and likely do.

Bravo Hans! Good job.

The importance of adaptive energy has been a part of ancient wisdom for centuries. Adaptive energy is the same force that mystics and scholars realized is the foundation for spiritual growth, as well as physical health and well-being. They called it prana, ki or qi (sounds like chi). Because of its vital significance, sages of antiquity sought out ways of enhancing qi.  They found help through Mother Nature. There’s an actual solution—a group of rare botanicals that enhances adaptive energy more than anything else. These plants cultivated strong adaptive power because they grow and thrive in harsh conditions. When consumed, the body absorbs their extra adaptive power. In Chinese Medicine these plants are called tonic herbs for their tonifying effects. This group of herbs is also found within Ayurveda’s rasayan formulas for spiritual alchemy.  As fate would have it, these botanicals were rediscovered in the West in the 1940’s when Russian scientists unlocked their secret and named them adaptogens.  The Russians used adaptogens to help alleviate the distress their Olympic athletes experienced from over-training and they were also used as healing aids after the nuclear accident in Chernobyl. Their modern research proves that adaptogens have a unique ability to bring the body to homeostasis and lessen the effects of stress on a person, be it physical, emotional, mental or environmental stress.

These herbs are amazing.  Just take a look at some of these herbs and their benefits!

American Ginseng

By far the most popular adaptogen, Ginseng (pronounced "gin-sing") is considered the most lucrative legal crop in the world. Ginseng has been used for thousands of years to prevent an extraordinary amount of problems, from premature aging, to low libido, low energy and cancer. It can, to a certain extent, be supported with scientific research regarding its anti-carcinogenic and antioxidant properties. American Ginseng is the best variety of the ginsengs because of its neutral healing properties.

Astragalus has been considered one of the most potent immune tonics by ancient physicians and modern researchers alike. For over 2,000 years, it has been used for lifting the mood, strengthening muscles, increasing metabolism, reducing stress, and strengthening the body as a whole.

Atractylodes is a powerful energy tonic. Also, it is well-known for balancing the digestive system. It is widely used by athletes and those interested in weight loss because of its mild diuretic action, and ability to increase metabolism and vitality.

Cordyceps is renowned as a powerful energy and endurance tonic, because, it increases oxygen capacity, battles weakness and fatigue, and boosts lung function and capacity. Also, it strengthens the immune system and improves sexual vitality. Cordyceps is a superstar among the longevity tonics!

Gynostemma is the all-time stress-fighting botanical. Gynostemma calms the mind, eases tension in the body, and increases vitality and energy; plus, it acts as an anti-inflammatory and powerful immune tonic.

Licorice root has been used for thousands of years to rid the body of unwanted toxins, increase energy, and harmonize herbal formulations. It is one of the most commonly used adaptogens.

Fo Ti

Also called Polygonum Multiflorum Root, it has incredible rejuvenative effects. It is often used to bring about mental clarity and to invigorate the brain. However, its real claim to fame is its ability to restore youth to a tired, old body! In China, it is said to help return an aged person to youthfulness.

Reishi Mushroom

Reishi is one of the most powerful, potent tonic herbs known to man. It is an immune booster as well as a mood regulator. It is widely used among meditators for calming the mind and inducing expanded states of consciousness.

Shiitake Mushroom

Shiitake mushroom, one of the most highly prized botanicals of Chinese and Japanese herbalism, is used to improve energy, blood circulation, and strengthen the body as a whole.

Ancient physicians have used ashwagandha for everything from hiccups to cancer. No doubt it has impressive adaptogenic properties. This powerful herb is one of the best adaptogenic herbs for restoring homeostasis!

It is said that Lycium will brighten the eyes, promote happiness, and strengthen vitality, plus, it is a strong sexual tonic! In essence, it restores and builds the hormones that keep us vital and youthful!

The story goes that those who regularly took Rhodiola lived to see 100 years. Science has now proven this herb to have powerful longevity attributes, and helps control stressful situations that lead to chronic diseases. Rhodiola also has been observed by researchers to have a potent detoxing effect on the body’s systems.

Gotu Kola

Gotu Kola boosts the body’s energy reserves, thus strengthening the brain. This is why it is referred to as a brain tonic. This action of boosting the brain by revitalizing the body’s energy is known as the "secret of immortality."

Siberian Ginseng

Siberian Ginseng strengthens sexual performance, builds energy and stamina, and improves mental abilities. It was given its fame by Russian Olympians who used it to expedite the recovery process from over-training.

Adaptogens are my safety net or insurance policy. They help me stay in control of my reaction to stress and with their help I avoid the desperate choices that I could make because of exhaustion. And most often they provide a boost of energy and mental clarity.

We are fortunate to have access to these herbs with the click of a mouse. In the book, Adaptogens; Herbs for Strength, Stamina, and Stress Relief, by Winston and Maimes, multi-herb formulas are recommended for the harmonizing and boosting effects. Though single herb preparations are fine, a wide array of adaptogens in a single combination prove to be more powerful and balanced. Because these herbs primarily restore balance in the body they are safe to take on a regular, long-term basis, unlike treatment-oriented formulas.

Supplementing with adaptogens is the easiest step I’ve taken to build an ideal life. Of the many choices available, my personal favorite adaptogenic product is ShenTrition. I think it is the most powerful and effective.

Do yourself a favor and take these herbs regularly! Safeguard your health and growth with adaptogens.
