Today is a stressful time and many people have a difficult time coping with stress. The world is constantly moving. Do you feel like you’re overwhelmed with all that is happening in your life? Your job, your family, the economy and all the stressful things going on in your life can add to a constant state of tension.

It is important to learn simple ways to reduce your stress and incorporate them into your day.

One of the most important things you can do is remember you are in charge of of your life. When a situation occurs that you don’t like, change it. It is important to problem solve instead of just taking a back seat to what is happening to you. If you take a step back and think the situation through you can come up with a plan to make it less stressful.

For example, let’s say you have a performance review at your job coming up and you’re worried about it. Don’t go into it without preparing. Prepare your own performance review summarizing your accomplishments from the last year and how you plan to improve for the upcoming year. Submit this to your boss ahead of time. Bosses love it when you make their job easier and this will help remind them of what you’ve done. View any criticism you get as a way to improve and make yourself better. Plan and prepare for each stressful event in your life to make them easier on you.

It‘s essential to take time to incorporate relaxation activities throughout each and every day. Pick activities that make you feel calm and take your mind off your problems.

Make it a habit of doing something to calm yourself everyday – even if it is only for a few minutes. You may feel like you don’t have time to do this, but if you feel good about yourself and your life, you will find your productivity in other areas will increase. Don’t expect too much too soon. Over time even something as simple as incorporating deep breathing activities can make a big change in how you feel.

Always remember that life is what you make it. If you choose to life a life full of stress and worry, then that is how you will feel. If you choose to enjoy life and not let yourself get down about things, you will have a much happier and healthier life. Be grateful for what you have and keep in mind that the problems stressing you out now will likely only be a distant memory a month or year from now. You will likely not even remember the little things.

Be optimistic and take action to make life what you want it to be.
