Learning names and faces is not always easy for some. You have to prepare yourself to succeed at this and not make mistakes. Many people will enter different situations in their life that will require them to know names and faces. However, the memory is not always willing to cooperate with them in this matter. You need to do a few things to get yourself mentally prepared to remember a person's name and their face as well.

Getting your mind ready to remember someone's name and face is going to take a little practice. You have to think about this and prepare your mind to do the job. You want to make sure that you are getting your brain in the right mind set to mentally calm down to get in mode to remember what you need to. Once you do this, you will be ready to start preparing to learn this information.

The next thing that you have to do is observe. You have to be observant so that you are able to take notice of the things that are going to help you remember. When you are meeting new people, you have to remember to look them in the eye. Do not move around with your eyes to the floor and so forth. Look at their face and be aware of the special features that they have. This will help you memorize them for the next meeting. Sharpen up your observation powers and you will have a good step in the right direction for improving your memory.

Make sure that you are listening carefully and paying close attention to the sounds of peoples names when you are introduced. This is a critical time in the introductory process but most people forget about it all the time. Make sure that you get their name and if you do not hear it completely, ask them for it again.

You may want to ask a person how to spell their name. There are many names today that have different spellings and you do not want to misspell it if you would have to write it down. Make sure that you double check and then pronounce the name so that you are getting it correct. The only way for you to do this right way is to make sure that the person is giving you the name so that you can verify it for sure.

You want to try to think about the person as you are talking to them. You want to make sure that you are concentrating on their faces and focus in on something different about them. If you can try and remember this quality you will have a better shot at remembering them the next time that meet. Having the ability to remember something unique about their face will help a person remember them all of the time.

You may want to try to think about where you met them and keep in mind something that will help you with your memory. You should think about the circumstances that are going on and then you will be able to remember them better in the next situation that you are in. it is all about memory and what is going on. If you liked the person the first time that you met them you will probably have less of a chance of remembering them the next time. However, if you do not like a person on the first meeting, you will notice that you remember them better because you had a negative first impression. It may seem weird but it is very true. Think about it the next time that you are meeting someone and chances are if you did not like them, you will remember it for the next meeting.

  1. Thank you for the informative post. I have a horrible time remembering names. Your advice of mentally calming down, observing and listening(especially during the introduction phase) makes sense. Though subconsciously I already know this, I need to practice it more often. Your post serves as a reminder.
