Challenge Yourself to Become Better

 By Stephen Zaba

There are times when we all fall short in a task that from the onset we had nothing but great intentions to achieve. It might be that we did not realise that it was going to be that difficult, it was not exciting enough to stay motivated about or that we just wished we had not thought about attempting it in the first place. It is all too often when we do not put enough thought into something that we want to do and if we do, do we really challenge ourselves to see it right through to the end.
I am sure that you have heard someone say to you at some stage in your life, if a job is worth doing, then it is worth doing well. I think it may come from a time that seems in the past and it is something that my grandparents used to say to me and it is well worth remembering. Even though life is so much easier now and we have automation at every step, it is all too easy to let someone else do what is more often than not, your responsibility. It is this same attitude that leads to a lack of productivity and ultimately, success!
It is the worker that stays behind an extra hour without pay, the athlete that practices when all the others have gone home, the kind neighbour that checks on the elderly, to make sure everything is ok and the student that reads an extra chapter of a book, in order to get ahead. These are all examples of people who want to become better and will challenge themselves in order to do so. They are going the extra mile and it is this type of attitude that separates them from the less informed majority.
Are you ready to challenge yourself to become better? When you do, you will begin to see amazing things happen within your life and experience the joys of success. As the late great Jim Rohn said, do not wish for things to become better, wish that you become better. Once you begin to examine your life and determine how it needs to be improved, you will come to the realisation that you need to challenge yourself to become better and do better. By doing a little extra each and every day to challenge yourself, will not only build yourself a life of prosperity and success, but at the same time build self esteem.
