Today we all live in times that we have not seen in half a century, not just the United States but world wide. The economic meltdown has everyone on edge. People are losing their jobs, or they are worried they may lose their job, and we all know what can happen next, people can lose their homes, their cars, and on and on, this can be very stressful. If you are single it can be stressful, but if you have a wife and kids this can be very, very stressful. Stress can be very dangerous to your health, it can cause all kinds of health problems, like high blood pressure, heart problems, eating disorders, alcoholism, and so on. It also can cause a strain in your family. I will show you 3 ways I use to prevent stress related illnesses.
1. Leave your work at work. Today people are working harder for lower pay. Companies are laying off people and making the rest of the employees pick up the slack for the same pay, and that makes people a little upset, and can cause all kinds of problems in the work force. I say just go in, do your job, and punch out. Leave your work at work. If you had a bad day at work, just get it out of your head right there, just think positive things like your kids, or any happy thoughts. Just tell yourself tomorrow will be better, and keep telling yourself that.
2. Get more training. If you do not like your job, you may want to get training for a new job, its never too late. I went to school for Electronics in the early 80s, it was a good thing at the time but now all the manufacturing jobs are over seas, so I was forced to get retrained, just to make it in this new economy, that is if you want a good paying job. Having a new career with more money, and something you enjoy doing, can reduce stress a great deal. It can be very challenging if you have a family, but these days you can get an education online, and do the schooling on your own time.
3. Give yourself some alone time. This is probably the most important. Everyone needs a little time alone to just relax. We live in a world that is go, go, go, all the time, and no one takes the time to just, stop, and take a moment to just relax. People should give themselves at least a half hour, or even an hour a day, to just relax and do what ever makes you happy, like read a book, or go for a walk, or my favorite listen to music. Music is very relaxing, thats why Dentists play soft music, to help people that stress out about going to the dentist. But remember, do this alone, no kids, no distractions.
In conclusion, stress is a growing problem, and it may get worse before it gets better. These are just of few things that I use to help me prevent stress related illnesses. If you would like more information on how to reduce stress in your life see link bellow.
